I read somewhere, that the 'free trade only' that Johnson wants would mean EU member states' parliaments have to approve it, which means it can't be done overnight (or overmonth), therefore May shouldn't have initiated Article 50 before any negotiations were done to discuss how the complicated issues could be solved.
Wasn't it said that there could be no negotiations until Article 50 was invoked?

Why are we in Europe?
Are we like the French?

Leave, FFS.

Just leave.

- well, something like discussing the options, unofficially, if.
IF I understood it correctly - can't find it any more either, as usual when you start looking for something that was 'just there'.
some numbers from How much do non-EU countries give up for access to the single market? More than Brexiteers will like

"While the UK’s strategy toward access of the EU single market after Brexit is unclear, the experience of the four non-EU countries having access to it suggests that the conditions of access may involve:
Sizeable net financial contribution to the EU budget (Norway pays similar amounts to current UK payments in relative terms, though Switzerland and Liechtenstein pay surprisingly small amounts.);
Sizeable net inflow of EU workers and their families (relative to population, all four non-EU countries received about twice as many EU immigrants as the UK);
The adoption of a very large share of EU regulations – without a voice in influencing them.
None of these elements may look attractive to those who campaigned for Brexit."

And more numbers, a really nice one from the BBC (by country, per capita, % of GDP):
EU budget: Who pays most in and who gets most back?

Probably there are calculations somewhere (by researchers, not panickers) to weigh the sums not paid to the EU and to be paid as a non-member of the single market.
Otherwise agree with AK - if one wants to leave, leave.

P.S. sorry if this has been discussed before (bin bizi now and then :ymsick: ) - a link to it would do, then.

Apparently the UK right from the outset of Maybot’s “negotiations” suggested the issue of their citizens in UK and UK citizens in EU be sorted pronto with equal fair treatment.

The Krauts said “nein”, nothing will be agreed TIL everything is agreed.

Later the MSM started to blame UK intransigence for all the uncertainty and distress suffered by the various migrant groups.

Symptomatic of the lies and deceit which has dogged this project since 1918 and continues today.

Let’s just walk and they’ll beg for the trade due to the imbalance currently operating.

Will it ever end :-o
EU leaders have agreed in principle to extend Brexit until 31 January 2020 - meaning the UK will not leave as planned on Thursday.
EU Council President Donald Tusk said it was a "flextension" - meaning the UK could leave before the deadline if a deal was approved by Parliament.
It comes as MPs prepare to vote on proposals by Boris Johnson for an early general election on 12 December.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

If they did hear 'Eject Eject' they would pause and try to estimate the affect on their vote count come next election, and die!

I also despair. The country I've moved from (a) and the country I've gone to (b) are both run by idiots. Different sorts of idiots but idiots none the less.

Thinking.....to get from (a) to (b) I have to pass through country (c), which is run by an arrogant megalomaniac idiot.

Is there no end to political stupidity ?

The Labour MP Keith Vaz is facing a six month suspension as an MP for attempting to procure cocaine for hired male prostitutes. Mr Vaz, who used the alias of a washing machine salesman called Jim, entertained hired male prostitutes to his flat where he indulged himself in unspeakable abnormal practices, he later said that they visited to discuss interior decorations.

This disgusting pervert is still an MP and typifies the standards which Parliament and particularly the Labour Party find acceptable. He should be in prison, but no doubt will be elected with a large majority at the next election, no wonder we are in this state of crises with these sorts of people in Parliament.

UK HoC has just once again rejected the will of the people over Brexit.

G E motion failed in this evening’s vote so more interminable droning on by the hygienist and the chocolate boulevard.

Luckily Xmas approaching & ordinary electors too worried about being made redundant or budgeting for the festivities so the MPs are safe from the wrath of the peasants, for the moment.

#4850 - by air, a wearisome journey of commuter trains each end to Barcelona and Stansted, not to mention onerous delaying check-ins and expensive baggage on squalid LOCAs. By train we embark minutes before departure, coffee and freshly baked croissants in hand, carry two suitcases each, listen to BBC Radio 4 en-route sitting in single armchairs and arrive ten minutes from the house. But yes, there are members of one of Europe's less popular nations present.

Not really, OFSO, though 'illegal' comes close.

Really though, is this the best we can find to represent the people?
Actually, I think he's typical which is one of the reasons that

A. I don't vote, and
B. Have **** off.

God help the UK.

A **** pansies paradise.

One of the principles was that no negotiations were allowed until the exit agreement was approved.

None of those are actually illegal AFAIK but you missed out offer to supply which would be illegal if he had. However, as with a points immigration system, if you score 69 or more 😝

If the master slimeball does get suspended (there are plenty of lamp-posts in Londonistan) from Parliament, does that mean he can't stand in a GE if one is held during his period of suspension?
