Irrespective of whether it will be good or bad, I also think Boris will be the next PM.

PN, we might do, I have a feeling that the Tories will faff about, go for a middle of the road PM in order to "reach out" to all members of the Party, (remember the needs of the Party come before the Country at all times), he/she will try to accommodate all the various views (unsuccessfully), Farage will be gearing for a General Election, and if present performance is anything to go by, very professionally, Parliament will be unworkable due to numbers and Corbyn forces a vote of no confidence and an election is forced at the end of this year.

One thing for sure is that the Tories won't elect or support a hardliner, so nothing will change. I think that the fun is only just beginning, May leaving solves nothing and the Tories will still fail to meet peoples expectations and their usual modus operandi of lying won't do in the future.

This might become quite a long thread.
"Reaching out " to the standard Clarence and Clarissa Tory supporter is relatively easy. The problem comes with the entrenched hard right who are a very powerful faction in the party and therein lies but one of the party problems because until their influence is negated, the internecine warfare will continue.

Nige can posture as much as he likes, because, thus far there's nothing called a manifesto in place, although we have been promised one now the vote has taken place. Manifesto's are usually seen as being important because they do at least offer some idea as to what the party concerned intends to do and how these actions can entice voters. Nige, however, is wholly reliant his charisma and the current dissatisfied voters to gain him support.

I have underlined the above because the Tories have been doing both, with a great deal of success, for many years so I commend your astute observation here.

Boris?...no surprise he's rather popular with some of the chaps on here. After all, it's probably not a good idea to look at his political track record too closely..just concentrate on the cosmetic "Brand Boris ", a brand that has been carefully orchestrated over the years to maintain the ego in the public eye.

"Irrespective of whether it will be good or bad, I also think Boris will be the next PM "

That's positive indecision for you !...do you have any preference as to how sit on, or straddle, a fence ?....and any preference to the type ?

I don't think Boris will be elected, too obviously a schemer ditto Gove, I think it might be an outsider with no baggage, Andrea Leadsom maybe, possibly they might insist on a bloke after Mrs May, either way they are likely to be ineffective because of the refusal of so many in the Tory Party to accept the referendum result, no leader can overcome that, same problem in the Labour Party.

I suggest the cowardice factor will kick in again and prevent Boris standing for PM, or if he does, he'll pull out prematurely (for once) if it looks like he's got a chance.

I think he's the perfect chap for the job.

Eccentric? No doubt about it.
Entitled? Positively.
A nutcase? Definitely.
Likeable? Yes, enormously.
A Conservative? Without doubt.
A shagger? It appears so.

Really, who do you want?

Alice in Wonderland, Joan of Arc?

It will be Boris, and in time, I hope to sort out the giant mess.

The Parliamentary Party will conclude, from the debacle of the EU elections, that they can no longer ignore the party membership. They want Boris, so Boris it will be.
Boris will either deliver a no deal Brexit, or they are all history at the next election.
His merits, or otherwise, as PM are irrelevant to his election. Surveys seem to show that Labour most fears Boris, which will be why the Remainers in the Parliamentary Party will reluctantly accept him.
Whether Brexit will actually be delivered remains to be seen, But Boris will want in done in Autumn.

Czech leader Andrej Babis said he hoped Britain might hold a second referendum and vote to remain in the EU after all.
Says it all, doesn't it?

Just like Ireland, repeat until they vote the way they are told!

I could see that working, especially if he's tasked with revoking Article 50.

Adopt the Spanish solution: throw dissenting politicians in prison. Problem solved.

OFSO.
Things are grim, but don't measure the British alongside the Spanish.

The Spanish are like the Mexicans, but with less suntan.

Nobody cares what happens in Spain, and the Spanish care less than any of us.
