Boris is perfectly within his rights to recommend to the Queen that she not give Royal Assent.
This is not what the courts are for, and the judges know it. The media is desperate to stop Brexit and is clutching at straws.

Well, our Boris was desperate for the job, and now he's got it- it's about time he did it.

He has manoevered himself into a position where he can either show the leadership the country needs, or just ***** the bed.

He's got the chance to show that he is as brave as his hero.

Let's see.

The danger for a minority party in messing around with any Parliamentary rules because they may be inconvenient for them at this time is that the changes will turn around and bite you when the power positions are eventually reversed.

I doubt if he's that bothered by her departure at this point. Either he's going to come through with a stunning success that will leave his detractors wiping egg from their faces for weeks, or he's already so deep in the brown and smelly stuff that a couple of extra droplets won't make the slightest difference.

There must be an abundance of ditches in the path of the new London Heathrow airport 3rd runway construction site.

2 birds with the one stone?

And an honourable departure to boot?

IF (big if) the Benn bill DOES gain 'Royal Assent' and Bo-bo refuses to honour it, is he committing some sort of offence (treason?) against HM and could she therefore put him in the Tower and 'Off wiv' 'is 'ed'?

His body could still go into a ditch, BM.

The talk is of the bill becoming law on Monday if HM signs it. Surely the players know which way this is going to move by now. Although HM signs it is on the advice of the PM.

And if he advises NOT, and she follows his advice? Will Cromwell be turning in his grave.

My guess as to proceedings is that he will have another attempt at a general election vote on Monday, see if enough of them have been paying attention to the full procedure for getting a Bill into law. If he wins then he'll go full speed ahead on trying to get back into power with a decent majority and repeal it. If he loses, he'll prorogue Parliament, and part of the procedure is in the Lords where they go through all the Bills which have passed parliament and have yet to gain Royal Assent. Each one is read out in turn and someone on behalf of the Queen indicates her assent. So he'll leave it off the list and then it'll be too late for anyone to do anything about it. The Bill will be lost, won't become law and then he'll wait for 1st November for the formal opening of Parliament. He will counter any suggestions of being undemocratic by pointing out that he twice offered the opportunity for an election but it was declined, so who's undemocratic?

I've just watched a replay of Thursday night's 'Question Time'.

Krystonabike(forgive me Reverend Jim) it was an absolute disgrace with Emily Fourbellies and Ian Tw@tford persistently talking over the other panellists and Fiona Bruce failing to keep control whilst interrupting the other panellists as they tried to get a word in. As for the Limpdem Layla Moron she was 'allteethandnotits' and about as much use. Someone farted toward the end the programme - an action which admirably summed up the quality of the programme. Wonder if it was Fiona?
It's always my fault - SWMBO

I reckon Boris is a bit more determined than some people realise.

Still on for 31 October in my view. He has the majority on his side, after all.

How do you calculate the 'majority'?

Blessed Margaret was the subject of a Mekon lookalike and behaviour sketch whilst in power but I think William Hague was also a rather genial version when in the public spotlight.

Boac.
How about the majority of people who voted in the referendum to remain, or leave the EU?

Can you imagine all this palaver had 'remain' won?

If what J T says is true the is this self-confessed treason?

The Treason act of 1351 is still in force but alas the penalty for same is not the chop.

Now where did I file away those guillotine engineering drawings? :-\

Why no names in the video? Does UKIP not know them? They should be published so the facts can be established rather than a 'random' UKIP video. What he claims is a serious breach.

Some VERY pertinent points made there!

The Treason act of 1351 is still in force but alas the penalty for same is not the chop. You may need to post the appropriate picture on one of these

Rather suspicious that it’s difficult to find out who the potential traitors are.
