Absolutely om., all these British students saying they can't study and eventually work in EU Member states after Brexit and that their future has been 'stolen' from them. Absolute rubbish. Plenty of students and workers from every other country working in the EU. The staff member in Paris responsible for my pension group is Australian, for example.

Looking at this YouGov link https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/ar ... tons-stand it appears that any preconceived argument that you may care to put forward on any aspect can be supported. I have read it and am no nearer understanding exactly what people think, other than it appears rather overwhelmingly that the majority do not believe a second referendum would be democratic.

Yeah. Even if they did, it's still more or less 50:50, meaning about half of the population would be unhappy. :(

Having a second referendum is so EU. Any time they don't get the result they want, there's pressure to do it over and get the 'correct' result second time. If there was to be a second referendum it should have been between "Leave with the deal on offer" and "Leave with no deal". However, Parliament appears to have ditched the deal on offer and saved the hassle associated with a second referendum.

Interesting point of view :(
Pointless talking to May as she listens to no one. She won`t listen to her own party what hope do the others have, May will never give anything to Corbyn because the headbangers in the ERG would split the party if she did, they are still determined to have a hard Brexit so they can sell our NHS to the Americans, that's their goal, the total destruction of the welfare state, and you voted for it.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Earlier in this thread the dreadful Poly Toynbee was mentioned, for those fortunate not to have been exposed to her ghastly articles, drab, repetitive dirge like ramblings from the 1970s, she is a shrill and unbalanced advocate for Corbyn and the Remain campaign. Here she is with yet more of what passes for journalism in the Guardian.
BREXIT fury has erupted after a Remainer journalist said Britain will “turn” to the Remain camp this weekend because “old Leave voters have died”.
Polly Toynbee, 72, has faced calls to resign after she claimed the UK would have a change in heart as early as this Saturday because “new, young Remain voters would tip the balance of old dead leavers”. As she launched her outrageous case for second Brexit referendum, the Guardian journalist said the “true ‘will of the people’” could turn out to be the “will of the dead people”. She wrote: “You could call it swing Saturday or crossover day, for this Saturday, January 19, marks an important moment.
“This is the day, in theory, when the country turns remain. Even if not a single person has changed their mind since the referendum, the demographic shift alone will have done the heavy lifting.
“Enough old leavers will have died and enough young Remainers will have come on to the electoral register to turn the dial on what the country thinks about Brexit.”
She suggested Britain had seen a “predominant movement in the pro-Remain direction” as she accused leading Brexiteers of “toxic lies”.

Her remarks rapidly sparked fury on Twitter, with users describing her comments as an “absolute disgrace”.

I had the misfortune to see that vile Toynbee woman on TV last night, I am not sure why any media except the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation or the Guardian would give the bitch airtime. Fortunately I have the ability to 'tune out' unwanted noise. Empty vessels make the most sound, as they say.

First, thanks for that ringing endorsement of her talents and skills as a journalist. It's refreshing to read such a, well, candid opinion because it proves the veracity of her comments beyond any reasonable doubt.

Actually, it's hard to disagree , in principle, with the views you quote above because the demographic she describes were prominent in the vote to leave, from whence cometh the quote by the way ?.....just out of interest although several rags spring to mind as potential sources.

Well clearly your viewing and indeed knowledge would have been greatly enhance by watching and listening to her......and such self awareness at the end of your comment is truly commendable I have to say.

The source of that information is the Guardian, her own disgusting tweet apparatus, and all mainstream media publications.
This hideous old woman, a former CND activist, has overlooked one rather obvious fact, not all young people have been submerged by the failing socialist education system, many have emerged able to think for themselves, last week that other leftie Trot Jon Snow was shocked when many young people he was interviewing were keen leave supporters.
One could argue that once all the 1970s failing old Trots have died off the up and coming young people, benefiting from an education as opposed to leftie propaganda, will embrace right wing politics and bring in an era of people thinking for themselves.

Actually, both parties have contributed to the current state of the UK Education system over the last 30 years and the results have not been entirely beneficial regarding the level of education children deserve. One easy example.....I used to ask baby engineers to convert from Lbs ins to Lbs ft for torque loading...980 to be precise, without a calc and by hand or mental arithmetic......those who chose the hand written option were amazed when, after filling up a side of A4,I showed them some very basic division maths.

Anyway, given the level of expertise on here regarding Brexit, some of you may well be traumatised by the interview with a gentleman last night on C4 who, inconveniently I know, just happens to be involved in food distribution logistics and therefore understands the reality and factual consequences of Brexit.

Thankfully, the Army are getting involved, thus ensuring work for sign writers adding to the Regimental Battle Honours Board ! ... there again, in case of food shortages, their bellowed horses should be safe, but I would be concerned about any goats chances of survival.....

Let’s all unite behind Boris =)) =))
Boris Johnson is set to say that now is the time to "use Brexit to unite the country" in a major speech which will likely be seen as his latest manoeuvre for the Tory leadership.

The former foreign secretary’s pointed intervention comes as Theresa May scrambles to try and get the Brexit agenda back on track after her deal was rejected by MPs.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Sorry...bit way off topic but I've noticed for a while the discourse between Cape and K&C on a couple of Ops-N threads, and in every case I can't help being reminded of this old clip if the two should ever meet! =))

Cape's the one with the newspaper.

Yes, the poor state of education is the fault of the Government, not any particular party. There's a Daily Mail article from some years ago with example of O-level chemistry questions over the past few decades and it's obvious from them that the quality has gone down.

As for the torque thing, I assume that's just a divide by 12.

Headline on my phone, "Top Germans plead with Great Britain to stay in the European Union". Next headline will be "Top Germans plead with France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Portugal to leave the European Union".

Loved it ! Brilliant series, dark humour and satire combined perfectly.....Hadfield isn't that bad actually...when the sun shines.

" As for the torque thing, I assume that's just a divide by 12 "

Yep, but so many couldn't perform this simple calculation.

One little darling, bless him, thoughtfully pointed out to me we had "done this last week ! " when asked about how an accumulator worked and what it's purpose was.....alas, he was then invited to answer the question. The point being, the modular concept of " learn, pass, forget" was rather too deeply ingrained in him along with many others.

Britain will “turn” to the Remain camp this weekend because “old Leave voters have died”.
Polly Toynbee, 72
Well if she and I drop out that will negate two from the 'right' camp.
