Re: Fallout in the political parties
Half of labour shadow cabinet to resign. Vote of no confidence in Corbyn.
Re: Fallout in the political parties
Sorry, I'm not really into politics and haven't followed the campaigns etc. - what has Corbyn actually done (besides being somewhat 'interesting')?
Re: Fallout in the political parties
Probes, the position of the Labour Party was to support the Remain campaign, however a significant proportion of the Leave support, particularly in the north of England, derived from the traditional Labour voter, (in what used to be known as the "working class"), therefore it is felt that Corbyn failed to perform his duties as Leader of the Labour Party due to a lucklustre support of Remain.
The root cause of discontent with Corbyn is that he is a career politician that has never had a job or lived outside London, he has no idea of the social problems facing the traditional Labour supporter, he has never demonstrated any practical political ability and he has retained a 1960 political philosophy in the face of reality.

He didn't do enough, his opponents believe him ineffectual.

Re: Fallout in the political parties
..and absolutely all of this was well known to all wings of the Labour Party before they elected him Leader, and yet they still did so. I think this was because he was the last honest, principled man left in the Party - which is true. Unfortunately, he is an honest wet blanket with, as om15 says, principles stuck in the 1960s which are not connected to reality. He doesn't inspire anyone to follow him. The most likely thought during one of his speeches is "Hmmm, did I put the cat out?"

Re: Fallout in the political parties
One of the big factors was that after the ignominious defeat of whasisname at the last election Labour sold votes at 3 quid a pop to all takers in order to have a say who should be the next leader. And if you don't believe that that was gamed by the opposite side then you also probably believe that fairies exist.

Re: Fallout in the political parties
All wings of the Party supported Jeremy - Party Members, Registered Supporters ("£3 members") and Affliated Supporters . So, it was good 'insurance' to spend £3 and vote for the Village Idiot, but unnecessary, as it turned out. The full-on Labour members didn't need the 'help'

Re: Fallout in the political parties
..and now to our man, live on scene...
"I'm getting reports that Jeremy Corbyn has gone in the Coup. Jeremy has gone..........................
...I'm sorry, apparently he's gone in the Co-op; needed a pint of milk and a loaf. Now, back to the studio"
"Thanks. Do we have any indication, any idea at all, what kind of loaf?"
'There are rumours it was a White Sliced, but sources close to the Leader are telling me he's a Wholemeal man, though he occasionally indulges in a 12-Grain"
"OK. We have reports coming in of a nuclear war between Russia and China, but of course we'll be back with you as soon as you can confirm either the loaf, or the kind of milk."

Always suspected that you wrote for the Daily Mail Fox, you have a way with unbridled speculation.

All this while living in a permanent trance, and appearing not to possess even a single clue.

Re: Fallout in the political parties
Just seen an interview with Ken Livingstone where he was actually speaking sense. Bob Dylan was really really right.

Ken speaking sense????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I think your wine's off, OFSO. I'd open a fresh bottle. Did you have magic mushrooms for lunch?
p.s. Which bit of Bob's mental meanderings were really, really right - The bit where his conscience explodes whilst the fish truck loads?

Re: Fallout in the political parties
Dianne Abbott is the new Shadow Health Secretary ...
Cat Smith, currently under investigation for election fraud (with some pretty clear evidence), has the Voter Engagement post
How much more ridiculous can this get?

This is the destruction of the Labour party under the dinosaur Corbyn. Good.

Re: Fallout in the political parties
Corbyn chose the wrong side, He should have stuck with his principles and joined the Leave side. This may have been at odds with many of his shadow cabinet (who he no longers has) and top Labour advisers (because they thought Remain would win) but he would have been on the right side of so many Labour voters(probably the only time). Just goes to show how screwed up Labour are, the party want one thing but the voters actually want something else and now they have a Shadow cabinet of maniacs and idots.
I hate Signatures!

Re: Fallout in the political parties
I think Labour are just about done.
1 Sacking, 19 resignations, 2 Lords who technically can't resign but won't attend the Shadow Cabinet. That leaves Rosie Winterton and Jon Ashworth who haven't acted one way or the other yet. Tom Watson also hasn't, but everybody seems to think he's the instigator (or one of). Corbyn is left with, I think, 6 of his original team who have declared for him, every one of whom is a total @rse who couldn't hold down a job at Maccy D's (even though the Abbottapotamus eats every item on the menu...daily).
