The Trump Hamster Wheel
Re: The Trump Hamster Wheel
It's fair enough to say that there's no great sense of loss, not getting Hillary as our next President. It's not like the feeling so many Democrats had when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated. There are still great expectations, realistic or not, of what he might have accomplished. With Hillary it was more, "Gots to be better than Donald Trump!" but that was about it; she was taken to be the less worse candidate.
It reads as a bit crazy, but part of Trump's appeal might be that he is worse than Hillary! Which would you rather: A glass of fresh-squeezed carrot juice and a plate of wheat thins while you watch a nature documentary on the sex life of the spotted owl, or a six-pack of PBR and a jumbo bag of Cheetos while you watch "Bikini Summer Goes Topless"? One is better for you than the other, mind!
It's interesting to see some people now imagining that Bernie Sanders had a better chance than Hillary Clinton. Bernie is a classical New York Jewish liberal, and literally a socialist. "Not that there's anything wrong with that!" but a socialist running for President? He would have had so many entrenched interests opposing him him from all sides of our political spectrum that he would never have had a chance.

It's just as if a soap opera has ended and morphed into real life with a new team of scriptwriters.

IJ Reilly wrote:Nobody really knows how Trump will govern. He's been a Democrat his entire life; what makes anyone think he is a true conservative? He spent the entire campaign telling people what they wanted to hear, and it worked. But who really knows what kind of Supreme Court nominees he will put forward; or what his true position is on gun control? And the wall? Fuhgetaboutit. Yet here we have conservatives pouring their hopes and dreams into such a porous and unstable vessel.
Our system is designed not to help a good President become great, but to prevent a bad President from gaining too much power. Trump will run up fast against this "governing" thing, which requires compromise and constituent building. New York real estate magnates just don't have that DNA. "Reality's a bitch" Donald, and you're now the star. So check your ego and learn how to cajole and persuade party members who didn't want you there in the first place. This should be fun.
In that way the Donald is so similar to Obama. Both men seem to be preening, petulant men-children, with little governing experience and a hyper-inflated sense of self. Obama's legacy is his complete inadequacy in governing, building coalitions, persuading others to his side. Donald seems very much the same.
But it sure is satisfying to see the end of the Clinton dynasty. Good riddance.
Ronald Reagan was also a Democrat prior to 1962. He was, obviously, anything but that after that date.

Re: The Trump Hamster Wheel
Mr Trump hasn't yet had a spare moment to call Mrs May on the telephone, it is traditional for the Present elect to call the UK PM before any other leader, but Mr Trump has been busy chatting to the PM of South Korea, Egypt, Ireland, Turkey and other countries and hasn't yet had an opportunity.
I wonder if Mrs May could be washing her hair if he does bother to call.
It will be interesting to monitor the speed with which Mr Trump backtracks on all his pre election pledges when the reality of mass deportation, immense wall building and so on are considered, still good luck to him, I'm sure the mass demonstrations and so on will peter out in due course.

Re: The Trump Hamster Wheel
I think this will cause Chuks to have a heart attack !
The New York Times is reporting that businessman and media executive Steve Bannon may be offered a top job under the Trump administration.
Bannon, the conservative provocateur and Trump's campaign chief, is now the leading candidate to be Trump's chief of staff, the Times reports.
Bannon, the executive chairman of the conservative website Breitbart News, who took a leave to help manage the final weeks of Trump's campaign, is well liked among Trump's circle of overlapping advisers, who see him as a favourable influence on the president-elect.

AA, that is pure gold.
Re: The Trump Hamster Wheel
The left have to work something out....the world is getting sick of your " we know what is best for you" ideas. Go home and get over yourselves.

...and also stuff your wealth-taxing, global warming scam pushing, huggy fluff crying, PC strangling and gay rights spruking bullsh!t far up your miserable arses and keep it there.
Re: The Trump Hamster Wheel
There will be no shock in seeing Trump filling his cabinet with a wide selection of deplorables: Bannon, Giuliani, Christie ... even Kellyanne Conway should find a place for her style, probably as Press Secretary. Try getting a straight answer out of that one with her nonstop, high-speed yammering that never gets to the point of answering the question asked. It's not lying, but just failure to answer the goddam question!
You Trump supporters are having your mean-spirited fun with all us liberals right now. Enjoy it while it lasts, about another four months.
It's been a long time since our last big romance with know-nothingism, America First and all that. Most of you have probably never heard of Huey Long and Father Coughlin, and the only thing you know Lindbergh for is being the first man to fly the Atlantic. This toxic stew cooked up from what you never heard of and what you think you know tastes pretty good right now, piping hot. See how you like it once it cools off.
