The UK Conservative party is still mostly to the left of the US Democratic Party. They'd like to move to the right but they're smart enough to know that this wouldn't work in the UK.Seenenough wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 7:46 pmWe don't have Tories here in the US Gob.We have Republicans not all of whom are conservative.TheGreenGoblin wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 7:13 pmThey have discovered the Tories' magical money tree, and I paid for a fibre of a leaf on that...Seenenough wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 8:08 pmNo flies on Pelosi ,are there. She wants to spend $3 Trillion.

What's his plan? A Russian doesn't take a dump without a plan.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Maybe there is hope for CA, after all, although I think anything outside SF and LA is R anyway.
Because they stand on the wall and say "nothing's gonna hurt you tonight, not on my watch".
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
It was a low turnout though, I saw a report that said there are 30k more registered Dem voters than GOP voters in the district and that they'd be more likely to turn out in November. This is why the GOP attempts voter suppression in some areas, because they know they'd lose if there was a significant voter turnout. Even Moscow Mitch could be in danger of losing his job if there was a decent turnout because he doesn't have a very large majority and it's traditionally a lower turnout in Kentucky.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Has anyone calculated the percentage swing required to rid the White House of the loony? It cannot be big.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
The gap is getting wider now that we are finding out just what Obama, Biden and others did to Trump during his campaign and after his election win during the transition period.
The Congressional seat turned in California was a seat held by the Democrats for 25 years.Maybe it is an indication of what might happen in November.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
So the answer is no?
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
This might help you, Bo
"A CNN poll published Wednesday shows President Trump with a seven-point lead over Joe Biden in several battleground states but the network was accused of burying its own findings.
A review of transcripts found that only one CNN program on Wednesday mentioned the poll of registered voters that indicating 52 percent favor Trump, as opposed to 45 percent for Biden, in key battleground states."

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
This might help you, Seen - the question was 'swing'. I gather the actual vote margin in 2016 was quite small.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Around these parts Bo, the battleground States are the same as "swing" States. The CNN poll indicates that the margins are against Biden in the "swing" States.A seven percent difference is a sizable margin.
Popular votes ,as you know, is not how Presidential Elections are won.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Michigan, where I live, is a 50-50 battleground state. Our current regime is headed by a Democrat governor who has issued fairly severe lockdown decrees that have been met with resistance reminiscent of the Tea Party protests during the Obama years. My take is that if the election were held today, President Trump would walk away with it with a much larger margin than he took the State in 2016 by around 10,000 votes. It seems Wisconsin and Ohio are trending the same.
It's way too early to call the November election, but I like the way things are trending. The big if is how our stumbling economy affects voters and who they blame for it. It seems the Democrat strategy is to make the economy as bad as possible. Is that good?

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
So you would like to see our conditions deteriorate so as to unseat President Trump?
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
CNN must have choked on their Perrier when they read the results of their own Polling!
The background is very recently the polling data had it the other way around....Biden trumping Trump.
So it is not just a seven point deficit...but actually a 14 point or more downturn for Biden.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Sen Richard Burr, RINO from NC, stepped down from his chairmanship of the Senate Intel Committee while he's under FBI investigation for insider trading. He sold massive amounts of stocks, as did family members, immediately following his receiving a China virus briefing early in the year.
Good. Hope he's indicted and convicted.
Both for the crime, taking advantage of his position while we peons operate in the blind.
And because he's a RINO and has helped the Democrats and neverTrumpers more than he's helped his own President.
Same for appointed Senator from Georgia Kelly Loeffler. She and her husband sold lots of stocks immediately following that briefing. She's also a nominal Republican.
A pox on both of them.
And Romney.

Don’t you dare walk around parts of Britain using language like that or you’ll be locked up by the hate police!
But thanks for introducing a new, if rather strong, noun into my vocabulary. Though it may be some time before I use it for real in public...
