See, if I had said that MA would have linked to a YouTube of Black Sabbath doing War Pigs, with a death threat against me and my pet dog. How do you avoid the "spirited" responses?

I have pictures! Right, MA?

I looked this one up. She's named Brittany M. Hughes and she's just perfect! A ranter, a flag-waver, and a bit of a gun nut too! Too young for me, but for Donald Trump, just right. I can hear those Tic Tacs rattling already.

Watch out, Melania! A hot 32 year-old is bidding to take your place!

What is the term for the syndrome/affliction characterized by the inclination that all questions of life's matters can be resolved by referring to an adolescent video?

Is it cerebral video atrophy?

So, MA, I see you find some admiration for the glory of the 3rd Reich. Interesting...

While I allow you your beliefs, I still find the 3rd Reich 'deplorable'.

Ben:

All the left are drawn towards the control the National Socialists had... It's their wet dream... To have no-one question their intellect, integrity and honesty...

I think my mention of MA elsewhere brought him back with a vengeance...

I hope he doesn't become as pitiful as Chuks... I always saw MA as the smart one of the two...

Boring facts: Preussens Gloria (Glory of Prussia) was written in 1871 by Johann Gottfried Piefke, a very famous German composer of military music. The visuals there refer to the Nazi period, but not the march itself.

Alte Kameraden was written around 1890 by a man named Carl Teike. That is the "Iron Cross" on the screen, not the swastika. It's a very old German symbol, one that goes back to the 13th century.

Both of these marches are popular world-wide. The first one is often played by modern German military bands on important occasions. They both are militaristic, since, odd as that might seem, most military music is militaristic, Lili Marleen excepted, but not fascistic or Nazistisch. If it were then it would be banned here, as the Horst Wessel Lied is. (The tune of the Horst Wessel LIed is reportedly taken from a Swedish hymn, How Great Thou Art!)

There's a lot of stuff to do with German militarism that many people associate with the Nazis, when that is not a complete mistake. The mistake is to conflate German militarism with Nazi militarism. The goose step, for instance, is often taken to be an exclusively Nazi thing, when any view of a Russian military parade will show how mistaken that is. It goes back to the time of the build-up of the Prussian military, and it's another thing that is popular world-wide.

AA, you do like to throw this nonsense around, don't you? I guess you missed the way that the American far-Right is drawn to Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton. Where do you see the Nazis appealing to our Left? It's people on my side of that divide who like to tromp around the woods in cammies playing soldier, thinking that the Waffen SS must have been a group of pretty good guys? No, Sunshine, those are your people, not mine. I think you missed something obvious there.

It would add a lot of credibility to your judging people for their intelligence if you were to join Mensa, AA. If that's too extreme, perhaps even impossible due to your own low intelligence, how about learning the rules of grammar, along with how to spell reliably? Once you have got past those things, then come back to tell me how stupid I am.

I went to the Mensa website to join but the first hurdle seemed a step too far. I mean, to climb up one's own as$hole, how is that even possible? The instructions on the website were in German, so how is the average genius supposed to read that? Best I can tell, it involves a ladder, mirror, and crumpled up college transcripts inserted first to widen the orifice. Well, no time like the present!

Then, they want you to take this test. A very, very difficult test. Pronouns, commas, even infinitive clauses. Gosh, does that stuff even matter anymore? Everybody who is anybody is on Twitter, there're no geniuses on 1990's bulletin boards. C'mon people, make it an easy test, so anyone can join!

It must be worth all the trouble, though. Imagine the thrill, logging into a forum as an anonymous user, and telling everyone I'm a Mensa member! Now, about that $49.95 membership fee. Where did I put that Walmart gift card, the one I got last year that still has $37 left on it? It's here somewhere, let me check this drawer.

"Helga! Open ze door! I'm a genius!"
