The US Hamster Wheel
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
I see President Chump says he has 'finished writing answers' to Müllers enquiry. Have to hope he tidied his crayons away afterwards or Flotus will be angry (again).
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
All it has brought about is that a set of procedures will be drawn up as to how to ensure that White House press conferences (which are not obligatory) are conducted and are not all about Acosta (or others ) trying to get into gotcha debates -No one is obliged to take questions from Acosta nor are they obliged to answer them if when shouts them out-We are prabably going to see a lot of Acosta shouting out but getting ignored.Jetex Jim wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 5:52 pmhttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... costa-pass
A federal judge has ruled in favor of CNN and temporarily restored White House press access for reporter Jim Acosta, in a blow to the Trump administration.
CNN sued the White House this week to demand the immediate return of Acosta’s press credentials after his media pass was revoked following a high-profile press conference standoff with Donald Trump.

The fukkwit really is an ass-hat
Donald Trump’s weekend visit to fire-ravaged California has prompted a withering barrage of ridicule and anger after he suggested the state should copy Finland in raking forest floors to prevent a repeat of wildfires that have killed at least 76 people.
He claimed he had received the tip from the president of Finland, who promptly said he could not remember offering such advice.
“You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important,” said Mr Trump during his trip.
“I was with the president of Finland and he called it a forest nation, and they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don’t have any problem.”

Have you ever seen the state of the ground in the vast US forrests?John Hill wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 1:14 amIt is called "On The Spot Guidance!"Undried Plum wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 12:35 am“You gotta take care of the floors. Mock all you wish. The fact is that build up of leaf litter and detritus on the ground over 8 tonnes an acre (that’s a relatively thin covering) is lethal. That’s why in Western Australia (and presumably in other Australian States) prescribed burning to get rid of this fuel load is viewed with great importance.

When all else fails, read the instructions.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
If Nature lays down 8 tons per acre then that is natural so why mess with it?

Does it not rain in Australia?

John, I have neither the time nor the patience to discuss bush fire management with you. I know a lot, you apparently know 3/5ths of bugger all.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
You want to control Nature? Best wishes on that meanwhile I will continue working on this tide management scheme I have in mind.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
California fires are natural events almost every year. This is quite normal whether caused by lightning, summer heat or a discarded cigarette. It's Nature''s regeneration of the forest with the ashes being returned to the soil and new growth is then possible, so I learnt in school.
With the advent of talking monkeys and locating their cages in forest areas then it's encumbent on said specie to intervene to prevent such fires starting and damaging their monkeyvilles. If this isn't done then Nature will do what she's been doing for aeons.
“You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important,”. Damn right.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
The forests of Spain are largely in private ownership by wealthy old aristocratic families who do bugger-all to maintain them. No clearing of deadwood, no cutting of fire breaks. So when a French truck driver chucks a cigarette end out of the window at La Jonguera, hundreds of square miles go up in flames. (That's the cause of the last huge fire we had here, four dead.)

So - it is true - President Chump cannot see the woods for the trees.
"He said he remembered telling the president that "we take care of our forests", but has no recollection of the subject of raking being brought up.
Mr Niinisto said: "I mentioned to him that Finland is a land covered by forests and we also have a good monitoring system and network."
The president's comments have inspired Finns to post pictures of themselves raking on social media." Boy, have you guys got yourself one there! Still, Ben's shares are doing just fine and the balance of payments and national debt looking GREAT. Yee Ha!

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
I had not seen McRaven's rebuke of Trump in August, but it really sums it all up neatly.
Trump has "embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation."
McRaven - yet another 'failed' person - would you believe it? According to the Chump it appears he delayed the Bin Laden operation due to his supposed support for the Democrats. What is this idiot smoking?

Sise-It is exactly what the politically unresolvable problem is that is causing the extreamly large and uncontrollable fires that break out in the US forrests. Some will be left to burn out of control until the winter comes and the snow falls and low temperatures then extinguish them.Sisemen wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 6:10 amMock all you wish. Majority of these forests are either Federal or State owned.I went through Yellowstone this summer and could not help but ask myself what the outcome would be if a fire breaks out there as there is so much debis lying about.
The US has much more wood that it needs for itself but yet it imports large quantities of its lumber needs in from Canada. When I first got here I found it strange that freight train after freight train rolled through our town with lumbar that was produced in Canada.
Essentially what has happened to cause this is that the US Environment "Police" have made it almost impossible for logging to operate viably, after much political lobbying from the "green"interest groups.Naturally much of the lobbying that goes on is funded by Canadian financial interest groups who benefit from the fact that the US imports wood from Canada in terms of the old NAFTA arrangements.
The result is the fuel debris has accumulated for years and years and now when fires start they quickly become uncontrolable as they have so much fuel to burn.Add a little hot wind and a spark source and then chaos ensues invariably ending up in the people blaming the Feds and States for not doing enough to fight the fires.
