The US Hamster Wheel
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
FD,all I have tried to do is to show that there is a large part of the US population, who are eligible to vote, who feel that what Trump offers them is more beneficial to their lives and that they will continue to vote accordingly.
So how much have wages risen by for these people since the inauguration? These figures might show how much extra pay they take home each week or month. The economy was doing well until Covid but now? I'm talking about the blue collar workers, who thought Trump was going to make a big difference to their lives and turned to him in despair after having had their standard of living stagnate for many years. Was it all in vain or has he really helped them?
I have just watched Brett Baier's interview with John Bolton.Bolton's arrogance is beyond frightening. Thank God the 'model of a modern stable genius' is above such arrogance.

Some of it rings true. Trump probably did think Finland was part of Russia or “kind of a satellite” of Russia. He probably did ask Theresa May, “Oh, are you a nuclear power?” He probably did confuse Ashraf Ghani, the current Afghan president, with his predecessor Hamid Karzai. When Barack Obama was running for office in 2008, he said he’d visited “all 57 states”. Joe Biden is nothing but gaffes and dribbles.
Trump probably did do Recep Tayyip Erdogan a favour by ensuring that the DoJ dropped its inquiry into a Turkish bank accused of violating sanctions on Iran. And it’s already clear that Trump doesn’t care at all about China’s abuse of the Uighur Muslims. The Obama administration connived at breaking sanctions on Iran, and sent a planeload of cash to Tehran as a sweetener. Nor did the Obama-Biden administration let the Uighurs get in the way of keeping Xi Jinping happy while it “pivoted to Asia”. All of this makes Trump look like 'business as usual', moral bankruptcy and all.
Bolton’s book is a typical Washington memoir, the revenge of an ambitious man who never made it to top banana. But he’s not a serious threat to Trump. He’ll be on the cable shows and the bestseller lists for a few days, and then he’ll subside back into a think tank while his book heads to the dollar bin.
The DoJ’s attempt to stifle Bolton’s book isn’t just pettier than most of the scores that Bolton settles in its pages. It’s the stuff of a banana republic – of governments so unsure of their legitimacy that any threat, any dissent, must be treated as if the colonels have come out of their barracks, and are rolling their tanks towards the scorched earth that used to be Michelle Obama’s organic vegetable patch.
So far that is the gist of what I've read in Bolton's book. The question remains, has Trump 'drained the swamp', or is it business much as usual - snake oil sales from a 'politician'?

Cordens peak viewership is about 1.3 million per week.
As always there is another view of the same situation.
"Fox News Channel finish as the most-watched network in all of television during primetime for the week of June 15-21, as President Trump’s rally with record-setting viewership helped the network surpass primetime averages of even CBS, NBC and ABC.
Trump’s Tulsa rally – his first since the coronavirus pandemic brought large public gatherings to a halt – helped Fox News land its largest Saturday night primetime audience in the history of the network.
Fox News’ broadcast of Trump’s rally was also the top-rated, non-entertainment telecast in all of primetime television for the week, earning 6.7 million total viewers and 1.4 million in the key demographic of adults age 25-54. It even beat ABC News’ heavily promoted interview with former national security adviser John Bolton and CBS' "60 Minutes."
Trump’s speech averaged 8.2 million total viewers during the 9 p.m. ET hour, topping major 2020 events such as ESPN’s coverage of the NFL Draft’s opening night, TNT’s NBA All-Star Game and multiple Democratic presidential primary debates
A study by NewsBusters determined on Monday that MSNBC showed its viewers only 3 minutes and 45 seconds of the president's remarks, or 3.7 percent of the 101-minute speech. CNN showed even less, clocking in only 3 minutes and 25 seconds, or 3.4 percent. Fox News, in contrast, aired the remarks in full.
“The Greg Gutfeld Show” attracted 4.6 million viewers following Trump’s speech, making it the most-watched episode of the show ever, averaging more viewers than broadcast powerhouses such as NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “Evening News” in the process."
In as far as the Talk Radio Hosts go Limbaugh and Hannity have about 15 million listeners each per week but that is not anything CNN and the Guardian will report.

Students for Trump Pack Arizona Event After TikTok Teens' Tulsa Rally Mischief
BY ELIZABETH CRISP ON 6/23/20 AT 7:15 PM EDT
"A raucous crowd of students greeted President Donald Trump in Arizona—frequently bursting out into cheer and applause—Tuesday evening, just days after a disappointing turnout in Oklahoma for the president's first campaign rally since pausing for the coronavirus pandemic."
Just a bit more that CNN won't want to tell you.

Sure, he can raise a glass. He just can't put it down. That's all.
And still, the crowd goes wild.

Well, UP, not surprising since he is going to stop the spread of COVID-19 (whatever 19, means...)

Trump has this thing about water. He claimed that the US have hydrosonic missiles (whatever they are)! Given that sound moves through water at over 3000 miles per hour I am apt to think he is deluded!

I thought it was an appellation issued in sequence to the variable corona viruses identified as time goes by. Point me to a source that states the '19' comes from the year of designation.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Your wish etc.
The name was selected based on letters from the words — “co” for corona, “vi” for virus and “d” for disease — and because the outbreak began in 2019. To ensure compliance with guidelines designated by WHO, the World Organization for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization, the name does not refer directly to a geographic location, an animal, an individual or a group of people, and is pronounceable and related to the disease, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PhD, MSc, said at a news conference.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I've been informed I can't trust that guy, but whatever. The truth, empirical evidence, logical deduction, induction and the scientific method are terra incognita to Trump's flunkies here! You'd be better of debating with a troop of baboons!
