It seems the Chump has adopted what was said to be Obama's re-election strategy. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

No, President Trump doesn't work that way, tending to make his moves, damning the politics. So far it's worked well for him. From any angle I don't see him imitating President Obama in any way - he is the anti-Obama that we needed in 2016.

Trump claimed (Nov30 2011 Tweet) that
In order to get elected Barack Obama will start a war with Iran

President Trump has asserted that the current actions have been to prevent a war with Iran. We'll see how this works out, very shortly I think. I was surprised the US attacked another Iranian convoy in Iraq with purportedly senior Iranian assets on board today. This signals a strategy of an offensive to decapitate Iranian leadership and commanders. I like that.

Isn't it about time the Iranians danced to the same music they have forced on others? The attack by the US on Iranian assets today seems like a 'double tap'. My inclination is to think if Iran tries to attack the US again the response will be awesome. If the Theocracy has any sense they will consider their next move very carefully. Incidentally, it seems, most Iranians would like to see their ruling government go away and long for Freedom.

Trump claimed (Nov30 2011 Tweet) that
- and a few more times, up to 2013, but Ben will not understand that, John and will 'conveniently' ignore it.

I await the response of his big mate Vlad - therein lies the 'big picture'.

It is always the way Ben, we are always told it is for the good of the people, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq et al. :(

Circumstances change, somebody dealt another hand of cards, perhaps the ones you were hiding under the table don't help anymore. I would much rather have a leader who can change his mind if need be rather than one wearing blinkers.

Seems they have something in common with many Americans then, who'd like their ruling government to do one.

How is the US going to feel when it is thrown out of Iraq?

I suspect a lot will be quite pleased. Official response from DC might not match that though.

Massive relief, should never have been there in the first place.
Bush Senior was well advised not to continue up the road to Baghdad in GulfWar1 but his son insisted on demonstrating the size of his willy by pretending to complete what his dad had “failed” to do. The plans for the invasion of Iraq had been drawn up long before they used the excuse of 9/11 as cover for this failed project. Now the country is a wreck and drifting into the control of the Iranian mullahs which is the original reason for Bush Snr staying out of it. “When will they ever learn?”..........

So, do we all think the assassination was double-bluff to ensure they get chucked out?

Works whether they get chucked out or not, judged by Trump's stated objectives. Looks win-win to me, especially in an election year.
Stand by for more stuff that matches Trump's stated goals from 2016. Wouldn't be surprised if something happened on the Mexican border that advanced the Wall project a bit. It'll happen just when the Dems finally think they've got people listening to them, maybe just before their candidate selection.

I don't think the Chump would be very good at chess.

Au contraire, Boac. President Trump has proven himself in every instance as a player of 3D chess while his adversaries can only mange checkers. Since he came down the escalator in 2015, announcing his candidacy, he has mastered the art, facing an unprecedented onslaught by news media, entertainment, academics trying to mock and discredit him, like you.

Somehow he manages to stay on his feet, punch back and emerge victorious. I know it bugs you, Boac, but there it is. In the current instance, not only did he take out a serious threat and menace to peace, but created a scenario where his political opponents, Democrats, have totally embarrassed themselves to the majority of voters.

There is a long way to go before November's election, but I don't see how he can lose now, and I think the odds favor Republicans taking back the House and ending this impeachment insanity.

As for getting out of Iraq, I'd suggest most Americans would be overjoyed. I'd also be happy to see Europeans and Chinese protect the free flow of sea traffic through Hormuz. The whole Middle East can fester on its own so far as I care, except for Israel, she's worth protecting.

I think you’re right Ben, but Trump must never underestimate the enemy even if the battlefield looks assured. The Dems could pull something surprising out of their socialist asses at the last minute in early Nov. That’s basic Sun Tzu Art of War stuff.

I’m sure he’ll be well prepared and with a few well laid landmines for them between now and then.

I see the Mirror and the Mail are reporting that Iran has put an $80m bounty on Trump. I guess he did manage to piss them off bigtime then.

80 million bucks huh? Dead or alive?

In the latter case* I’m sure ol’ Boac might try to coax Trump into visiting his humble abode, alone, using all resources available to him for that kind of loot, but he’ll need a MAGA hat first. :p

* I doubt he would kill Donald outright. He’ll likely point the gun but not pull the trigger. Assassination of a dignitary is still a crime in England last time I checked, and he may get caught if someone ratted him out. Five million in non-negotiable bearer bonds would certainly buy my silence! ;)))

A price on his head? Well, that's a declaration of war from Iran no matter how you dress it up.

Fox - check mate? So the Chump has thus declared war on Iran?

Slasher - I'd need more than $80M to have him near me. :))
