Ah - the pitfalls of leadership. One is the toast of the town until one fcuks extremely up and is then on universally reviled by all.

She did have balls though. She took a huge risk but fell in a heap.

Oh well...c'est la guerre.

Would that be the same Hard Left who have had an outgoing protest outside Rotherham City Hall these last 7 years, crying for justice about the mass rapes?
Total number of Labour Councillors so far prosecuted...zero.

I am now firmly of the opinion that May is over. I once again state that I would support Davis for interim leader/PM. I cannot see Damian Green (erstwhile 'Deputy PM') being a good choice.

I think she has made so many 'mistakes' now that she has to be replaced. We cannot launch into next week's Brexit negotiations with a PM who 'may' have to step down in the middle.

The history shows a 'Presidential' style (heaven help us, no wonder she likes the Trumpet) which was present throughout the election campaign and it looks as if it went part of the way to the loss of seats. Her several 'U-turns' on manifesto policy were bad, and the story goes that she did not involve her cabinet fully (qv 'Presidential'). Her choice of 'advisor/s' would appear to be very suspect. Now Barwell must surely be badly 'wounded' and will probably have to go too. Her 'empathy' over the recent fire has been torn at by the media and the survivors/bereaved families - be it actually right or not, it appears wrong. Again, I believe a mis-judgement (qv 'Advisors').

Let's get it over with quickly so we can launch into Brexit in better shape - right now it looks like a potential disaster.

The trouble is she does not answer questions, she stays on a robotic script. It makes her seem very out of touch, actually she probably is out of touch, along with the rest of them.

She was exactly the same as Home Sec.
Why anyone expected an incapable control freak to "get better" when given even more power and responsibility is beyond me.

And you won't find anyone to replace her who can do a better job, in any party.
The entire political system is not fit for purpose. Party politics, and the ways parties select candidates and promote MPs, is completely f#cked. Completely.
To run a country properly, you need the same mix as you do for living. You need people who have been doctors and engineers, road repair men and dinner ladies. You need to select those who are intelligent, modest, worldly wise and pragmatic. Those aren't the people parties are selecting. They pick people with no real world experience and precious little interest in listening to anyone who has.

With one proviso, do away with Parliament and let the Monarchy run the country. It's worked in the past.

The one proviso is: ban Charles from ever becoming King.

Well, that's the problem with monarchy; you get Charles's. One spat with a cousin and it's 17 million dead like WW1.
No thanks.

Wouldn't 'appen with a dictator, like 'itler, Stalin or Mao.

I'd be far too soft for the job.

As much as I like Cape his genius is that he is wrong about everything he writes or thinks about!

In the late 60's-early 70's, I used to go to Brussels quite a lot for training courses, and I got to enjoy it.

It was a very good place to eat, with the qualification that one had a decent expense allowance, which I did.

Oh goody - a competition ! My entries for cities (not necessarily capitals) are Luxembourg and Strasbourg. Oh, and Zurich.

Stayed at the Hilton in Bruxels at time of Hearald of Free Enterprise disaster. Got food poisoning on first night there.
Had a MacDonalds following night, which I brought in to eat in my room.
French President was staying there. Hairy garlic armpit security searched my quarter pounder with cheese....actually opened the carton.

Strassburg (spelled that way to piss off the Frogs) is a great city, and so is ZRH, anything but boring.
Brussels gets my vote for boringest major city in Europe.
