I've always used that exact phrasing, but have no idea where it originated. Anyone?
I first heard it from an Australian, Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson, back in the 1980's.

Always thought it was an RAF phrase dating from before the Dead Sea first reported sick.

OK for kids to take a day off school on a half-arsed protest, but if a parent takes a child on holiday they get fined. Why is every parent of those attending said protests not fined for not ensuring their offspring are at school? Double standards?
Short answer the school can't trust (justifiably so) that the educational holiday is adding something on the kid's education. Now for those extra-curricular activities....

I suspect it has its origin in 'the military' - more specifically the RAF - probably wartime.

You're all wrong:- BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (1706-90) said it first and he said it best:
So what will change with potentially smaller, fragmented, PNG autonomous regions?
Three fifths of five eighths of nothing!

Jan van Riebeeck's fault again?

Cyclone Idai, a tropical cyclone that hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, is not a natural disaster but a direct consequence of the white, Western system of ecological assault for profits, Black First Land First (BLF) said in a statement on Friday.

It was only a Cat 2 system FFS. We’ve just had two Cat 4 systems within a day of each other. How many deaths? Zero. How many destroyed buildings? Zero. But that’s probably because Australia is not corrupt and has good infrastructure and systems.

White people caused Cyclone Idai, says BLF

Us white buggers are a smart specie aren't we? Just this year it invented cyclones hurricanes and typhoons.

Of course, three fifths of five eighths is three eighths.

I humbly request critique on the following from those who utilise the scientific method of reasoning:

To me it appears to be a hypothesis supported by relevant facts but can it therefore be termed a theory? I don't know if the guy is only using selective data to support his 172 year hypothesis.

Thanks.

Well, logically, if it can be determined that we are in a period of cooling, I expect we'll soon be urged to increase our usage of fossil fuels to try and heat the place up....

I agree with you on this one AtomKraft, but as you regard me as an idiot, I can see how it cretes a conundrum for you. Perhaps a session of introspection with a professional would do you good. PM me if you'd like my guidance.

Ben.
It's not my fault that I regard you as an idiot. That's your fault.

Still, on this issue we seem to have common ground. It's because our viewpoint is based on science here, rather than your idiot politics, which are just as 'cut and paste' as the typical indoctrinated leftie.

Don't expect a pm pleading for advice, anytime soon old boy.😉

In reality, it's your fault. You seem to be unable to accept that others might have a point of view different than yours. It doesn't make either you or me an idiot. By the way, I don't often cut and paste but I do express my opinions, which is why we're all here, isn't it?

My political views are not yours. I accept that, but won't call you an idiot for holding yours.

Allright Ben. Let's call a truce.

You start thinking. Not everything the democrats do is wicked.

And in my own turn, I'll try to think positively about Republicans, like yourself

Btw, I don't support the democrats any more than you do.

Deal?

Look you blokes. We all (except JH) accept thread drift as a natural function of Ops-normal - it's what makes certain threads interesting and diverse. But please stop the public mud-slinging. Both of you should know better anyway.

Atom stop calling Ben an idiot.

Ben stop baiting Atomcraft.

Okay? Settled.

Back on topic. Logic doesn't necessarily follow on in scientific reasoning Atom. Take QP for example - the most illogical science discipline there is. However after some digging around elsewhere I conclude his hypothesis does qualify as a valid theory that can be flung in the faces of these Warming nutcases - and 'listen' to the night-cricket noises accompanying their silent stares and empty jaw gapes.

Deal?
Deal, AtomKraft. I don't like personal friction any more than you do. I'm much more comfortable engaging in the thoughtful and mutually respectful dialogue that adults do at their best. Let's be friends who see things differently from time to time but are able to assert our differences intellectually rather than resort to antics that demean each other. I believe that if we can both stick to that ethic our participation and communication here will be much more fruitful for us both. Slasher, nice job mediating.
