Climate Disruption.
Re: Climate Disruption.
is all you need.
I would still agrue that we should reduce the pollutants we are putting into the atmosphere, however. Air quality is a major problem in many places and that is not a natural phenomenon.

Re: Climate Disruption.
True Boac - but not by voting in radical left-wing greenies or AGW ratbags to do it. That would be like wanting capital punishment to be restored and voting in the Taliban or Daesh.
Re: Climate Disruption.
NB I did not mention radical left-wing greenies or AGW ratbags - just people!

Re: Climate Disruption.
It is 30 years since James Hansen gave testimony to Congress about the rise in global temperatures, during which he banged on about the 0.4 degree rise in the previous 30 years.
The rise in the intervening 30 years has been......0.1 degrees.
It is also noteworthy that the Senator who arranged Hansen's testimony, by his own admission, phoned up the met service and arranged the testimony for what they said would likely be the hottest day of the year, and he also went round the night before and opened all the windows so the air con wouldn't be effective.

Oh yes they could and would. Some of those promoting the coal and oil industry for starters. It is largely their pollutants that are causing the problems.

Interestingly, though, the leading burners of coal and oil, like the US, have the cleanest environments on earth. Great strides, that were needed, have been made in reducing effluents in those countries. If you really want to reduce atmospheric pollution, focus on Chine, Russia, and Africa, and any other jurisdiction enslaved by Socialism.

Re: Climate Disruption.
The AGW scam is a clever mix of some true stuff and some lies. Like most big lies, It needs a little truth to sound authentic.
Conservation of resources is clearly 'a good thing'. That's one of the scams ingredients, and it's true. But measures to actually increase efficiency seem to be largely absent, as that would result in loss of profit!
Reduction of pollution is another ingredient, and no one would argue that it's a good thing.
The big fib though, is the 'we're all going to die if we don't cut carbon emissions because it's going to get dreadfully hot'. This isn't true.
Neither was 'The new ice-age is coming' as we were told c.1975.
Cutting pollution is a great idea. Crack on with it.
Managing to do with one barrel of oil, what we need two barrels for today? Excellent.
Leave the AGW bit for the hard of thinking.....

Re: Climate Disruption.
I think you made that up Ben as there are several countries with cleaner atmosphere than the USA.
It is not all to do with Socialism Ben when the world's largest democracy is one of the very worst air polluters.
Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.

- that would not be surprising, John - he is merely following the Trumpet's track record of making things up, as a loyal acolyte should.JH wrote:I think you made that up Ben
A glance at the image in my last post in the 'Hamster Wheel' will show the 'infestation' and 'Millions' of illegal immigrants at present, but we must not let facts cloud our judgement.

So why don't you bang on India, then, and lighten up on your obsession with the USA?It is not all to do with Socialism Ben when the world's largest democracy is one of the very worst air polluters.
Re: Climate Disruption.
Are there any Indians here on this forum preaching alternative facts?

As far as I know there aren't. But you invoked discussion of the world's biggest democracy, which is India, being one of the very worst air polluters, which is true. Hence my question, why don't you bang on India, opposed to air pollution as you are, a while and let your US animus rest a bit?Are there any Indians here on this forum preaching alternative facts?

Re: Climate Disruption.
I'll give an example:
A few years ago, it became clear that Anglesay was growing and it looked likely that demand for electricity would outstrip supply. In other words, the link to the mainland could not carry the required load.
Two solutions were proposed.
1. Build a new undersea cable with much greater capacity, at enormous cost.
2. Reduce the consumption on Anglesay by changing old inefficient appliances, for more efficient ones. 10% of the cost.
What do you think happened?

Re: Climate Disruption.
I have no idea what ultimately transpired at Anglesay, but I suspect the benefits of exchanging old, inefficient appliances were oversold, electrical service declined, cost increased, supply remained inadequate, and consumers are grumbling. That's the pattern everywhere Green zealots get a grip on the populace for a while.

No. The pattern is just keep supplying.
If we were REALLY interested in cutting energy usage, there are other ways to go about it.
Using a bit less of the stuff, would be a start.

Nobody makes money out of people spending less, especially the Government.
