I didn't know about the Rome Club and its predictions in 1972 but they were not very accurate. I don't have a scientific background but I am extremely annoyed that Climate Change is seen as an opportunity of ruining people's lives for little benefit, while a lot can be done improving the situation and the daily life of citizens. There are few roads with a excellent well co-ordinated traffic lights allowing cars to drive smoothly longish distances within the city. However in most parts of the city traffic lights are completely randomly set, in most cases red turns to green as the car comes to a complete stop. Obviously fuel consumption and tax revenues are connected so what is some constant unnecessary emissions if it means increased tax revenue to a government pretending to want to fight climate change.

The same goes for solar heater. No serious tax breaks (VAT is fully charged) for a solution in saves a big amount of CO2 emissions. I paid around 850 € and about 25 of it was VAT. I offset it against a part of the rent but if I had to finance 100% out of my pocket I would be hesitant to do it. Just like properly isolating an old apartment where VAT goes to a four digit number, is a good way to save energy but government rarely allows to do it tax free. If the one paying was allowing to submit invoices and got a serious tax refund the issue of tax evasion from plumbers and electricians would be hugely diminished.

Same goes for people informing us about AGW: like the little autistic girl. She asked us not to travel while she does so in a highly carbon emitting way like when she crossed the Atlantic with this sailing boat and then a crew had to fly across the Atlantic to bring the vessel back. And not forget the nice places they go to sign declarations for the environment like Rio and Paris.

Finally we still we can cope by being more serious on landscapes constructions - like using data of 100 years to build a new road.

Obviously there are are a lot of things I don't see but that's how I feel.

Agree completely. Main electricity company in Spain makes payments to government to stop solar panel licences being granted. I heard that our local solar farm had to be disconnected from the grid after lawsuit on basis of unfair competition.

Over 40,000 new CV infections yesterday in Germany, and riots against vaccination programs in the former East Germany.

German virologist Christian Drosten has warned that a further 100,000 people will die from Covid-19 if nothing is done to halt a fourth wave spreading across the country.

If we could just point the virus to areas such as this maybe it would leave the rest of us alone. :ymdevil:

State Prosecuters are investigating "glaring incompetence and corruption" costing around €600 million in construction of the Stuttgart21 railway station, hopelessly behind schedule with the original foreseen cost of €2.5bn now at €8.2bn and rising.

Tesla has missed an EU grant of €1.1 billion for its new battery factory near Berlin due to German bureaucratic delays.
Bet there would not have been delays if VW had been building the factory.

Were talking to German friends about their new government. Bringing in laws to squeeze taxes out of landlords and make life easier for tenants. Government thinks only of super rich property owners, never considers how many small landlords bought one rental property to augment their old age pensions. New taxes wipe out that income. Many will sell their properties, putting tenants out on the street. New tax laws will have opposite effect to that intended.

Who said the Germans had neither a sense of humour nor sarcasm nor irony?

I don't speak the language, but a picture speaks a thousand words:-

Blöde Ossies! As a former West Deutsche Bürger, I think the Wall should be rebuilt, the STASI funded by Berlin, the Solidaritätszuschlag stopped and the Untermenschen on the other side all left to die of Covid, since that's what they want.

Agreed - I'll even return the bit of wall I hacked out in October '89 to help.

No doubt the Stasi still have the photographs taken of me by the Ossi border guards when I was provoking WWIII in Berlin in the '80s. Germans never throw or destroy any records.

Why couldn't/didn't/wouldn't the outbound crew sail the yacht back?

Or did they? If they did, it would deflate the CO2 gas bubble of the climate change deniers.

Oddly, it was Nazi-loving Americans who set up Volkswagen and taught them how to mass produce cars. Henry Ford was awarded Nazi Germany's highest medal for his help towards building the Third Reich's car industry. After the war, GM successfully sued the US government to compensate for the damage caused to their factories in Nazi Germany by American bombers.

It was attributed to the concierge in the Kamp? Hotel.
