..........and to think they could have offered to warm it up for you.
Indeed... there used to be some cracking looking ladies, mostly in the buff, on that beach, despite the fact that nudism or naturalism was illegal and the beach used to be raided by the prurient police from time to time. South Africa was such a verkrampte Calvinist state in those days! ;)))

Cue for a tune by the Springbok Nude Girls... Little, the cold water certainly made me feel a little small! =))

Our friends in Empuriabrava tried to get their dad vaccinated. Were told Roses town about three miles away was doing it. Had a date but in Empuriabrava, told Roses team was doing it there. Went to Empuriabrava medical centre on the date, locked up. Empuriabrava refused to let Roses team vaccinate on their premises and locked them out when they arrived. Roses team finally used meeting room on third floor of adjacent building. No lift. Elderly father can't walk more than a few feet on the level, no chance with three flights of stairs. Finally nurse came out carrying a concealed needle and vaccinated him in the car. Said "please don't tell anyone I did this." Did a flu jab at same time. Scurried back inside building.

The Spanish government has set a maximum price the pharmacies can charge for Covid tests of €2.94 each. However the pharmacies still have to pay the wholesale price of €3.50 when they order them, hence a loss of 56 cents a packet which the pharmacies have to cover themselves. Our friendly local owner, Marta, has put up notices pointing this out. No doubt her regulars will pay the extra so at least shell cover her purchase price.

OFSO, Is this good news for you and yours and locals?

https://www.thelocal.es/20220119/spains ... effective/

“Health authorities in the northern Spanish region are the first not to request an extension of the Covid health pass requirement for daily affairs in their region, considering the measure to have “not been effective” in helping to reduce Omicron infections during Spain’s sixth wave.
From Wednesday January 19th it will no longer be necessary for people in the northern region of Cantabria to show a Covid health pass to access hospitality and nightlife venues, cultural and sporting venues, and mass events.
Cantabrian health authorities reached the decision on Tuesday, justifying that “it no longer meets its objective” of preventing Covid-19 infections in indoor spaces where food and drink is consumed.”

I don't even know where Cantabria is, let alone know anyone there. I suspect it's in Spain, which for most Catalans is a foreign Monarchist country with its own government.

Catalunia has a different set of Covid rules and regs. which are far more stringent than those of Spain.

In the western US, 200 miles is just down the road. Not so true in the crowded eastern states though. :)

Spain is going to help defend the Ukraine. I bet Putin's having sleepless nights over that.

Rumour here is that the law that's been in force for two years mandating the wearing of masks in shops and on public transport will be cancelled before Easter to further the tourist trade. Once more one will have to hold ones breath when standing next to French people in the supermarket checkout.

An interestinging announcement from the Supreme Court in Madrid yesterday. It appears that during the pandemic the Catalan health authorities put the Spanish Guardia Civil at the back of the queue for handing out covid vaccinations, giving the Catalan police and local police first go on the needle. Outrage!

I understand from the media today that France gave the UK 12 points! Presumably a mis-understanding, as the Micron had told the French jury to 'give the UK one too"

Newspapers here report "the fugative former king Juan Carlos returned to Spain aboard a Gulfstream jet yesterday after fleeing to the Middle East two years ago, as if nothing had ever happened... "

Note to the above: the former king will return to the Emirates on Monday where he has his permanent residence. He'd better have his escape from Spain planned: he is still a fugative...

Can any of our Iberian correspondent’s confirm this?
Spain has just introduced free rail travel for all local journeys from Sept-March paid for by taxing wealth of big energy & finance corporations.

Long distance fares are also being cut by 50%.

Try this.

Sánchez has announced that all Renfe multi-journey tickets will be free of charge from 1 September to 31 December this year. The government will offer a 100% discount on all multi-journey tickets for Cercanías, Rodalies and medium distance, after a 50% discount was already approved in the last decree on anti-crisis measures, which also included a 30% discount for season tickets for other urban and metropolitan transport, which the autonomous communities can top up to 50% or 60%. Last paragraph, Spanish: https://www.malagahoy.es/espana/medida- ... 30688.html

I dunno if "Resdeincia" is needed for this or if it applies to all. *Ibbie* might know as the railway goes his way not mine.

You don't need a Residencia to get a Spanish old folks travel card or a Patronomia, we got ours with a UK passport, so I doubt there will be any formalities. I don't t know whether one still needs tickets, they seem a bit pointless.

Numerous other measures are proposed, and in a country which has been tottering on bankruptcy for a number of years, kept afloat by EU taxpayers from the north, this is perhaps the first step to abolishing money. Nobody gets paid but everything is free.
