No mention on the international news, except Catalan news, of the insurrection in Corsica. Macron has his hands full there as the majority of Corsicans are demanding separation from France.

France ready to discuss 'autonomy' for Corsica, minister says

Maybe maybe Corsica would like to be freed from the shackles of a corrupt and bent administration (Paris) seeing as how they’re rumoured to be well acquainted with such deviant behaviour.

Meanwhile, back on the mainland Micron and cronies are aping the behaviour of third-world country election procedures and conduct;

What a shame the ‘good guys’ of democracy viz the US, the EU and all those other bastions of probity were not there to supervise the electoral process in the same way as they love to do with said 3rd world ‘banana republics’... :-?

Obviously Mini Micron’s plan to inoculate everyone in France against the English disease has signally failed;

“Continent Cut Off From Britain, Shortages of Fruit & Veg To Follow” will be the headlines in the red top papers?

Oh, wait how a minute, that’s old news... ~X(

Interestingly the complete and utter paralysis of France which commenced today was only the fourth item on F-24 News this morning. Macron has probably given instructions not to mention it.

Remember, it's known as the "Trusted News Initiative", exported to the World a bit like the Industrial Revolution for which those Perfidious Albionese must be called to account ! ! !

Pay attention at the back of the class, otherwise it's detention for you all ? ! X(

King Charles and Macron doing something ceremonial at the Arc de Triumph on Monday. Macron will have to get the army in to collect the tons of garbage littering the Champs de E. Our friends are driving up from the South to Quiberon today. Have expressed trepidation: lack of fuel, demonstrations blocking roads. Nantes is a centre for anti-Macron sentiment. I do have sympathies for his predicament. I think he should drop the reforms and when the money runs out in a few years, give a gallic shrug and say "well, it was your choice."

Bordeaux town hall set ablaze. Shocking sight.

My understanding has always been that Charlie doesn't like travelling very much anyway, so I doubt he'll be too bothered. He'll probably go and talk to his plants instead.

Macron had expressed the view somewhat earlier that he wanted to show King Charles everything that was wonderful about France. Reminds me of Dr Samuel Johnson's remark about the finest view of Scotland:

"The noblest prospect which a Scotchman ever sees, is the high road that leads him to England!"

(OFSO doesn't agree, by the way, regarding Scotland. France is another matter....)

What Sassenach wrote that?

Scotsman FFS!
In current usage, Scotsman (or Scot) is preferred over Scotchman.

I am saddened that our friend, recently departed, Capetonian is not here to tell us what his opinion of the situation in France is.

I know what he'd say. Couldnt happen to a more appropriate country. Cossetted and living in luxury and now running out of money and refusing to pay for it.

Last night I checked the return train fares from our local Spanish station via Paris to London for May. Used to be under €500 first class for two. Current price is €1100 second class for two. (Air fare €299 for two plus €60 train to Barcelona). If you examine the benefits staff on the French railways get - free travel, also for families, early retirement, etc. - you can see why. And why they are frightened of losing it.

Correction to the above: return air fare for two to UK was €322. Add parking and taxis to the French rail fare and that is almost four times the price of flying BA.

Macron said today he's going to push the pension reforms through no matter what. Going to be a bad summer for the Froggy Substances.

Police have raided the Paris HQ of the committee organising the 2024 Olympics. Odd, I thought they usually waited until afterwards....

La Belle France won’t be an attractive holiday destination if this keeps up?

From the Trusted News Initiative “Verify” folks’ website;

“At least 150 people are arrested across France in a second night of violence triggered by the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old driver
The teenager, named as Nahel M, was shot at point-blank range as he refused a traffic stop and drove away
In Nanterre, where Nahel was shot, vehicles were set on fire and police fired tear gas
In the Mons-en-Barœul suburb of Lille, people broke into the town hall and started fires
The French interior minister calls it "a night of unbearable violence against symbols of the republic"
French President Emmanuel Macron holds a crisis meeting and calls the violence "unjustifiable"
Nahel came from a French-Algerian family, a neighbour told Reuters news agency. Their tally found that most of those killed by police in traffic stops since 2017 were black or Arab”.

Let’s hope those perfidious Brits don’t lose their collective cool as the climate warms up... =))
