I thought Bradshaw was on the lookout for a slightly soiled high spec campervan at a mate's rate until I saw when the article was written. As a fanatical 'Krankie' worshipper I expect he's still a fan of hers eight years later.

'English journalism' shows something slightly biased about him - no 'right thinking' Scot would enjoy that joke eh?

At last Humza Youseless has found something to fall back on - the nuclear business. It appeals to those who think they will be safe from radiation if England and Wales are turned to glass. 8-}

Humza Yousaf vows to rid independent Scotland of nuclear weapons

First Minister wants to enshrine a nuclear-free Scotland in a post-independence constitution
By Mark Macaskill 19 June 2023 • 7:00am

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/20 ... rd-journey

The removal of nuclear weapons from Scottish soil will be enshrined in a post-independence constitution, Humza Yousaf, the first minister, has said.

The plan is contained in the SNP’s latest blueprint to help the country meet future challenges in the event that the union is dismantled.

The nuclear pledge revives a call made almost a decade ago by Mr Yousaf’s predecessor, Nicola Sturgeon, who questioned why Scottish taxpayers were funding “one of the largest concentrations of nuclear weapons in Europe on our doorsteps”.

“Our proposals would provide an opportunity for people in Scotland to shape the newly independent country and create a permanent, modern, written constitution to describe the type of country Scotland would be and how it would be governed,” Mr Yousaf said.

“Successive UK governments have taken Scotland in the wrong direction and with independence we would radically shift where power lies and put it back in the hands of the people who live in Scotland.

“What we will not see under these proposals, are nuclear weapons on the Clyde. This proposed constitution would ban nuclear weapons from an Independent Scotland.”

The drafting of a new constitution is outlined in a new strategy paper, Building a New Scotland.

Previous papers have set out evidence showing independent countries comparable to Scotland are wealthier and fairer than the UK; how Scottish democracy can be renewed with independence; and the macroeconomic framework, including currency arrangements, for an independent Scotland.

Mr Yousaf said the latest paper would enable people in Scotland to shape the new country and “take on the challenges of the future”.

The blueprint includes recognition of the NHS in Scotland, giving the right to access a system of health care, available free at the point of need; stronger protections for human rights and equality, including upholding and fulfilling the right to an adequate standard of living as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and the right for workers to take industrial action.

In 2014, Ms Sturgeon, who at the time was deputy first minister, said that embedding a legal obligation to work for nuclear disarmament in a Scottish constitution would place a duty on Holyrood to strive for the removal of submarine-based Trident nuclear weapons.

In 2021, the Ministry of Defence reversed a 10-year-old disarmament plan by announcing the “ceiling” on the UK’s nuclear weapons stockpile would increase from 225 to 260 because of “technological and doctrinal threats”.

The same year, Nukewatch, which monitors the transport of nuclear weapons, claimed that the UK government had quietly boosted the number of Trident nuclear warheads stored on the Clyde in the previous five years. It estimated that 37 new warheads were delivered from England to Scotland between 2015 and 2020. Nine were added in 2019 and 13 in 2020.

Your fatuous comment about 'Undried Plum'' has been removed.

So here is our own wild-eyed hairy-faced fundamentalist to fill us in on how the “women and children first” disembarkation might be proceeding;

As usual I’m surprised the item is still up on some form of YouTruebe, but give them and their algorithms enough time to twig that not only is he talking about Jockland and their brand of guvvment idiots but he also strays into the awful Climate Emergency minefield!

From the STV News website, quoting Humza Yousaf and Independence:
He insisted the SNP winning a majority of seats at the next election would mean Holyrood begins negotiations with Westminster.

However, his comments were made as recent polling by PanelBase predicted the SNP will take 21 of the available 59 Scottish seats at the next election – down from their current 45.

Scottish Labour are predicted to win 26 seats.
The Boundary Commission for Scotland began its 2023 Review of UK Parliament constituencies in Scotland in 2021 and is due to report before 1 July 2023. Their recommendation is that the number of Scottish seats at Westminser be reduced by two to 57.

Our constituency has mainly been Conservative for much longer than the 43 years I've been north of the border, although the Lib Dems held it for a few years. It's Conservative at present but has never been as good as the period when Alick Buchanan-Smith was our Conservative MP from 1964 until his death at the age of 59 in 1991. A good MP and gentleman in every sense of the word.

That quote above makes me wonder whether this time around the C16s will tactically vote Labour as the Conservatives don't have a hope in hell of stopping the SNP. Talking to folk it seems we won't be the only ones thinking like this......

Neil Oliver seems to have moved on considerably from his days of 'Coast' (a UK TV programme which was very informative and interesting).

The problem everywhere is not the Sturgeons of this world, who have always attempted to gain power for the celebrity and corruption opportunities it brings, but the average voter.
These clowns are in office because the average voter will pick Clown A over Clown B, rather than consider voting for Independent non-clown C.
I think it's an inherent trait of human nature. Vote for the Clown from the big group rather than pick anyone on their own.
It's a generalisation, of course, but it's true the vast majority of the time, which is why independents rarely even consider standing as candidates.

Meanwhile, north of Berwick-on-Tweed, another problem looms for Humza Youseless with the Orkneys angling to snuggle under the wing of the wealthy Norwegians.

But adjusting to the prices of alcohol under a Norse administration might be a bridge too far for some;

Charles being invested in Scotland today, the Kirk service could be interesting 🤔

We took the children to see Rikki Fulton in panto at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen - it was just as funny for the adults as it was for the kids. Also touched on some contentious matters:

Well Humza Youseless, good luck with that idea?!

Have you twigged that there will be a General Election in the UK in 2024 or sooner and you’ll have to be involved in that bunfight despite your impression Jockland is already independant on the rest of the voters on that fateful day?

https://www.gbnews.com/politics/snp-gas ... mza-yousaf

Perhaps he oughtha get back to inspecting steam loco chimneys and leave the fate of the Jocks to someone else more empathetic with the unfortunates currently trapped north of the much hated Border?

Yoga classes, Gleneagles stays, wellies and a driving test: Nicola Sturgeon's government hits Scottish taxpayers with £14million credit card bill over three years - including £10,000 for her 'royal' travel perks (and heelstoppers)

I just don't know what people are moaning about. This is just chicken feed in the table of expense claims for important, high profile world leaders like Sturgeon. She thoroughly deserves to be recompensed after all she's done for her country. :ymdevil: :)) =))

The vast majority of the 58,000 entries were for everyday purchases needed by civil servants but more than 3,000 entries in the list of purchases have no description against them.

Dozens of transactions had entries with purchases for what are described as "away days".

This included a £375 bill at Brewhemia in Edinburgh - one of Scotland's largest pubs - in September 2019, as well as trips to upmarket bowling alleys.

There are also entries for team building events in Escape Rooms, where a group of people are locked in a room and have to solve a series of puzzles to get out, and crazy golf contest.
Civil servants used the procurement cards for an away day event at Edinburgh Zoo costing over £2,000.

A £1,693 "away day discussion" at the Seamill Hydro hotel in Ayrshire last year is also listed.
