It'll be great fun if Shetland Islands Council holds a referendum on Independence for Shetland on the same day in May as the elections for the Pygmy Parliament.

Even more fun if the Indies win that Referendum and the Snumpties win a majority in the pygmy parliament.

For the Shetlanders there is the role model of the Faroes. They are technically still a colonial possession of Denmark, but they have full political and economic independence and are prospering hugely. Shetland's income from their oil and fish would make them immensely rich and an Indy Scotland would be a basket case without those revenues. They'd be begging Burundi and Malawi for international aid.

Krankie is going to look bloody stupid if she demands Independence for Scotland but refuses it for Shetland. She will inevitably be shown to be the power-crazed bitchcunt that she is. If she had an ounce of moral fibre she would be welcoming and encouraging SIC in its Indy endeavours.

UP, so, seriously, what of the Orkney or Fair Isle? If the one became independent like the Channel Islands it would seem natural that the whole archipelago should be treated as one with each being autonomous.

Then of course the Western Isles are not wholly enamoured of mainland Scots either.

The Western Isles cannot economically break away from Scotland or the UK. Their infrastructure is totally ****. Their capacity to absorb tourists is massively oversaturated by demand. The single track with passing places roads are totally gridlocked in summer and the laybys are covered in human shite because there aren't enough toilets on the islands.

They could make a wee bawbee by distilling Whisky, but taxing exports is a bit of a no-no.

I used to have Fair Isle jumper and thought I might get a new one 70 years on. Mortified to discover that Fair Isle is now a global pattern rather than true place of origin. A true Fair Isle is beyond my pocket and probably much too warm too.
