The SNP have always disliked Orkney & Shetland because we have voted Lib or LibDem for decades. The Western Isles have always voted SNP. See the differences

So vote SNP, simples!

This is why my little Island votes Liberal Federally (all 4 MPs), so we get more Federal money.
Latest Provincial election is 22 Conservative, 3 Liberal, 2 Green. So the money we do get is spent more wisely* ;)))

And all the Liberal Federal laws and initiatives? We ignore them :))

Last year's Fed money meant the Province made a profit. The Con Premier handed 95% of that profit back to the population as a one-off tax rebate. Provincial Property tax increases have been rebated back for the last two years, which is why, and only why, he got voted back in.
The politicians are only in it for the money, so we play them at their own game.

And we ignore the Provincial laws we don't like as well.

*more wisely wrt politicians = slightly less stupidly, obvs.

Police Scotland officers ordered to shave off beards!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65482560

The world is getting more idiotic with every passing day. Having a beard didn't stop Butch Barnard, the CO of 849 Squadron, Gannets, from using an oxygen mask back in 1964......t'was the days of the two piece goon suit with the roll up top and bottom secured with buttons!

The same McPlod logic regarding O2 masks was employed by the RAF to prevent us all from resembling wild-eyed hairy-faced fundamentalists as their airships deemed the face fuzz would degrade the seal between the skin and the O2 masks in use at the time.

So we were treated to the sight of the occasional visiting Sea Harrier Jockey sporting the fuzz whilst using apparently identical ‘P’ masks to those used by the ‘crabs’.

Sometimes rare RAF crew were permitted face-fuzz if they were able to persuade the MO that shaving caused their face to disintegrate or fall off but they were indeed rare specimens.

As usual, nil stocks of fact, logic and reasoning in the MoD HQs.

I was once forced to shave off my beard and trim my somewhat luxuriant 'handlebar' moustache before being allowed on a helicopter to visit an oil production platform in the Arabian Gulf because it contained sour gas (H2S) and I might be required to don a BA set in the event of a gas escape.
Fortunately facial hair regrows !

As Health Secretary back in January, Humza Yousaf announced an £8m package to relieve bed blocking in Scotland's hospitals. He promised to deliver 300 interim care home beds with health and social care partnerships able to procure additional interim beds, with the funding allowing boards to pay 25% over the normal care home rate.

So when it emerges that since then only 42 people per week on average were helped with interim care placements under the scheme, the SNP Government puts out a statement saying:
“The £8m announced by the Health Secretary was intended to provide support for around 300 people, and was exceeded with almost 500 people being supported, helping to ensure patients were cared for in a more appropriate setting.”
:)) :-o

It seems the SNP Government are unable to tell the difference between people and beds.

Nicola Sturgeon "absolutely failed" to deliver for young people, Scotland's children's commissioner has said. Bruce Adamson said the former first minister had let families down over child poverty and mental health.
Does anything surprise us north of the border when it comes anything that the SNP Government fails to achieve! Total shower of incompetents. Sturgeon out, Yousaf in....but Bruce Adamson doesn't hold out much hope for improvement....
Mr Adamson said he was not confident that Ms Sturgeon's successor Humza Yousaf would do better for young people. He said: "I think the new first minister may have made some big promises, but we've not seen anything on delivering those."

Good to see McPlod taking firm action against a dangerous atmed villain;

https://www.scotsman.com/news/crime/boy ... on-4143303

He must have been a big strong wee boy, probably suckled on Irn-Bru since being weaned off the tit?

The subsequent investigation would make interesting reading but we’ll never see it.

However, those McPlod remaining can now get back to stalking Wee Krankie with a view to gathering enough evidence to justify her arrest, which will make good MSM viewing and print acres! 8-}

Seeing mention in the Bomber Harris thread about popping in to a local public library, one in eight, that's 83 public libraries, have permanently closed in Scotland since 2010, 6 since April in Aberdeen itself - Woodside, Ferryhill, Cults, Cornhill, Kaimhill and Northfield. It's not as though there isn't the demand, the number of annual visits to public libraries in Scotland is 45 million. Yet another example of SNP ineptitude.

Great news for the UK Labour Party's hopes of stealing votes from Krankie's lot come the next general election;

"Keir Starmer will announce plans shortly to block all new North Sea oil and gas developments and limit borrowing to green investment only as part of a Labour blueprint to make Britain a “clean energy superpower”. The Sunday Times has more.

The Labour leader is expected to set out his net zero energy policy when he launches his latest “national mission” in Scotland next month. It will include a pledge to ban all new North Sea oil and gas licences, signalling a seismic shift in decades of U.K. energy policy.

It will be one of Starmer’s five key pledges to the electorate and opens up a clear dividing line with the Conservative Party over a critical issue facing the U.K. as next year’s general election approaches. Rishi Sunak has backed further oil and gas exploration in the country’s energy security strategy.

Starmer will also announce that a Labour government would only borrow to invest in green enterprises, another dramatic departure from policies enacted by successive U.K. governments. The Labour source added: “We’ll set out our fiscal plans in full at the election, showing how we will invest in jobs and industries of the future while meeting our fiscal rules.”

The party expects the plan to create up to half a million jobs in the renewables industry, including at least 50,000 in Scotland. The move is expected to offset developments in the dwindling North Sea oil and gas fields that directly employ more than 20,000 workers and provide an estimated further 200,000 jobs onshore.

Under the “green prosperity” plan, Labour is aiming to double onshore wind, triple solar and more than quadruple offshore wind power*. The party has committed to creating a publicly owned renewable energy company whose aim is to achieve a zero-carbon power system by 2030.

However, Starmer’s decision to turn off the taps in the North Sea is not expected to come without challenges amid fears it could force the U.K. to place more reliance on energy imported from countries such as Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Currently, the UK meets about 45% of its gas needs from domestic energy generation, reducing its dependence on overseas vendors with higher emissions. Despite the continued rise in renewables, however, 85% of British homes still rely on gas boilers for heat and 42% of the U.K.’s electricity comes from gas".

* Presumably this miraculous increase in wind and solar will not be due to increased emissions of hot air from the UK Parliament?

What could possibly misfire with this cheerful pledge to sort energy usage with one wave of his wand? #-o

Can it get any worse in the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Jockistan?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/ ... sktop_home

Maybe the former steelworkers, miners and shipbuilders could exercise their skills in sorting out the signs and ANPR cameras to the best effect for the peasants?

Hamza Youseless faces yet another confidence crisis in the progress of Jockland towards the bright sunlit uplands of ‘independence’ and accelerated net-zero, wotever that means?

Was rebuked, I seem to remember, for using oaths and curses, took offence, and retired to his vast estates North of the Border, never to be heard from again.
