HMS Scotland makes defending the UK a lot easier. However, to answer your question - after independence, yes, they may have to fight the EU.

There's a thought. They could become neutral.

It seems that about a third of Scots living in Scotland support the SNP drive for independence, albeit at the price of abysmal and dishonest governance and corrupt incompetence, about a third wish to remain in the UK and the remaining third couldn't be bothered getting out of bed.

We will now have to endure more aggressive and shrill falsehoods from Sturgeon and bumbling bribes from Boris. The only way out of this is to give the Scots an immediate referendum, stand back and let them decide what to do and then let them get on with it.

During my researches into the SNP luminaries I read this article and found it quite typical of the situation , https://wingsoverscotland.com/dawn-of-the-imbeciles/ in particular this comment from one correspondent.

Roddick is going to be toxic. She was sacked from her staffer job at Holyrood before for being lazy, sleeping at her desk, lying on her CV, stinking after doing all nighters and coming straight into work, fabricating stories then briefing them to the whips, hacking an MSPs personal messages then giving them to the press and having a ‘close’ relationship with a married journalist. All in the space of three months. She has never held down a job for more than 3 months in her life but now she has been handed a 5 year job at £65k a year which she cannot be sacked from. You are right, she will burn the place to the ground in a week.

Good luck Scotland, you will need it with what you are creating for yourselves.

Agree completely. Allow referendum now. Providing: everyone sticks with the result.

We've already had a once in a generation referendum - the result was NO to independence. In 2014 Sturgeon supported Salmond when he said the referendum was a once in a generation issue - she should stick with the result rather than keep wanting referendums until she gets the result she wants. I can quite see why anyone south of the border would want rid of Scotland. This pain Sturgeon winds everyone up.

A referendum is about the people who vote, not about seats in Holyrood. Those who can't be bothered to vote are an irrelevance to the independence issue. Sir John Curtice puts the result of the election admirably when he relates the votes cast in relation to the independence question:
Overall, the election revealed how evenly divided Scotland is politically.

On the constituency vote, the three main parties that were backing Scotland staying in the UK won 50.4% of the vote. But on the list vote it was the three main parties that were supporting independence that were narrowly ahead with 50.1%.
The helicopter pilots' mantra: If it hasn't gone wrong then it's just about to...

OTOH, those agitating for a change would be expected to be more active than those content with the status quo, ergo those for Independence would be expected to be more vocal than those against (IMO).

A referendum therefore, could expect to be in favour (against the true wishes of the population) unless voting was mandatory.

Any comment on the most obvious results of independence will be shrilly labeled project fear, best thing is to let people work things out for themselves, then when the banks, MOD jobs, government jobs, shipbuilding jobs and Faslane jobs all head south it will have already been considered.

It seems that the promise of a free bicycle for the electorate worked, very third world African.

47.7% of the vote apparently means a mandate.

Maybe UP has been abducted by the dark forces of the SNP for treading too close the real story of the blessed Nicola. Should we all be afraid?

UP has been working his fukkn airse off digging and laying 3.6km linear kilometres of pathway with unmptyump thousand tonnes of very expensive Type 1 and almost a third that much tonnage of whin dust to be vibrorolled in, plus thousands of linear metres of path-edging small timber.

Plus dealing with a valiant but worn-out and knackered labourer who ought to be put forward for an OBM or somesuch gong. My encouragement to him: that he'll be mentioned in Despatches and the last to be shot, didn't go down quite as well as I'd hoped that my quip had intended.

Plus: four styles over the deer fences and as many doggie flappy hingwes through the deer fences.

Plus, placating sumbdy indoors who thinks that I ought to get out less.

I'm still here, though, both in body and spirit. Well, 43.5% in spirit, anyway.

Woss'appened since I had a bath?

WJK won a whole seat back from the majority that she inherited from Pudgy. She's still in a minority, in so many ways.

Nah. I just wiggle the controls of the machinery. And write cheques. That's my equivalent of doing hard labour.

Following a Westminster election, HM the Queen 'invites' the winning party to form a government.

What happens in Scotland?

Craig Murray has been sentenced to eight months in prison.

A classic political showtrial and conviction of an innocent man.

Some interesting comments about this case even in the DM. Such as the one below.
If you want to find out what's going on in Scotland -- and may very possibly be coming to a town near you soon, - I strongly urge readers to familiarize themselves with the history of this case.

I can't believe they put Craig Murray in the Clink....although he'll have to wait three weeks and lose his appeal before he goes in.

Vindictive bastards.

In the case of our Nicola- lie your arse off and keep your swanky job.
In the case of Craig Murray-tell the truth/ blow the whistle and get locked up.

Gotta hand it to the SNP.....
