Re: Chaos in Scotland.
Any chance they could revamp the Monastery of Defence? Best told in a broad NornIron accent!
I doubt if the good folks on Lindisfarne would necessarily welcome the return of the invaders?
Seeing as how some of the Northeasterners were taken away into slavery and servitude to Scandiland, is it possible the ‘woke’ white rich middle class students might march in protest against that episode of slavery?
Hell will freeze over first.

One I agree with why should BBC Scotland be inflicted on BBC England? We don't get the others represented the same way.FD2 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:39 pmBBC faces major backlash after curtailing coverage of Sturgeon press conferences

A bold move by the BBC but who will blink first?

Good kit OFSO - Inquisition with Covid additions! If I were there I'd probably go for the full body condom!!
Re: Chaos in Scotland.
The Opposition here in NZ is in a similar position to what passes for one in Scotland. Jacinda has been front and centre on TV and press conferences for months steering the country through the Covid crisis and the opposition National Party can only carp and growl from the sidelines. It does rather skew the party popularity stakes.
Only a few weeks to our General Election but with luck the referendums at the same time on End of Life Choices and Cannabis Legalisation might settle those two scores for a while.
Apologies for drift.

Thanks prospector - I've just checked the Scotsman - what a 'woke' bunch of pathetic a*se kissing fools. Words (almost) fail me to describe the actions of a University that was once the envy of the world and nurtured some of its great minds, its medical faculty likewise.
Re: Chaos in Scotland.
What the University had to say on the matter:
The University of Edinburgh's statement read: “It is important that campuses, curricula and communities reflect both the university’s contemporary and historical diversity and engage with its institutional legacy across the world.
“For this reason the university has taken the decision to rename – initially temporarily until a full review is completed – one of the buildings in the central area campus.”
It added: “The interim decision has been taken because of the sensitivities around asking students to use a building named after the 18th century philosopher whose comments on matters of race, though not uncommon at the time, rightly cause distress today.”
I think I've seen more evidence of a backbone on jellyfish on the beach. My wife's eldest uncle was MA BSc Edinburgh - there was a big age difference between five brothers - he was mown down in France in 1917 and has no known grave. I'm sure he would have been delighted to know he was dying for this woke crap cause.

Embra Uni should tear down DHT and restore those two sides of George Square to their former modest glory.prospector wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:20 pmhttps://www.rt.com/uk/500598-edinburgh- ... aign=Email

They should also have been obliged to join the Cooncil in an obligation to restore the former St James Square to its former glory too. There really ought to be a hingin' or twa atop Moultrie's Hill while they've still got the cranes up there.
The City Faithers need their airses kicked, regularly. They should be reminded that Embra is the city which gave birth to The Enlightenment. Their desecration of Princes Street, Queen Street, George Square and St James's Square is a fukking disgrace.
As Lord Braxfield once said: they'd "be nane the waur o' a guid hingin".

Oooops! Sounds like the leaders and their ‘science’ advisors have been bitten yet again by that incredibly difficult academic subject viz addition and, if needed, subtraction.

Will the same arithmetic dyslexia, if there is such a disability, be soon exposed in the other countries in the “UK”, with some rapid back-pedalling taking place before the massed banks of cameras and reporters?

Re: Chaos in Scotland.
And more on the Jockistan way, which will become the English, Taff & NornIron ways of “controlling” the plague;
Alan Cochrane in the Telegraph delivers a blistering attack on the First Minister’s callous sacrifice of Scotland’s students in apparent pursuit of one-upmanship and poll ratings.
“This is an absolute disgrace: a thousand new students have been imprisoned across Scotland – victims of Nicola Sturgeon’s preoccupation with looking good and fighting propaganda battles with London rather than taking the measures that would really beat Covid.
And now, incredibly, all of Scotland’s students have been hit with a brutal list of restrictions including a ‘stay away from pubs’ order.
The locked-down teenagers, just starting their varsity careers, are not so much prisoners as hostages – held captive until there’s an improvement in the official statistics about which Ms Sturgeon has thus far been only too pleased to boast.
No longer; Scotland’s figures are at least as bad as England’s means she has had to come up with ever-more draconian restrictions.
But the punitive rules being inflicted on all these kids puts everything else in the shade. Students have been told that they can’t do much more than stare at the four blank walls of their tiny flats, with security guards patrolling their halls of residence, they can’t mix with their fellow freshers, and can’t go home or even meet Mum and Dad.
Worse, any infraction of the draconian rules will be breaking the law. Guido summarises the restrictions.
– No parties and no socialising outside households and their accommodation.
– Increased staff presence in student accommodation
– Further engagement with private providers of student accommodation, especially those with significant numbers
– Intensified liaising with Police Scotland to ensure vigilance
– A strict ‘Yellow Card/Red Card’ approach to breaches of student discipline.”
The raw deal students are getting is unbelievable, told to go to campus they are mostly doing lectures via video conference, not allowed to socialise and being told they can’t go home at Christmas (there will be tears) and paying full fees. Guido for once thinks complaining students may have a point. It’s been pointed out that university staff are still allowed to move freely in and between halls to check compliance, then go to the pub, then go home to their family.
Stop Press: A student at Glasgow University, Harry Butcher, has written in spiked about how his university feels like a prison, while a fresher at Dundee University, Euan Lee, tells his story, “I got Covid and now 500 people in my university accommodation have to self-isolate“, in the Telegraph.
I wonder how the reporting of today’s protest in London will be skewed?

Re: Chaos in Scotland.
Does this mean a by-Election soon in her constituency;
Margaret Ferrier: Covid-positive MP faces calls to quit https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54383281
So under standard ‘rules’, all those in the HoC at the time should now be off the premises isolating, just like I would have to do if someone at the far end of the pub I’d been to had tested +vet and been traced.
But I don’t hear that the HoC has virtually closed down as a result.
And that ghastly Ian Blackhead is amongst the loudest calling for her head on a spike having committed his own lockdown infringement right at the start of the plague pan(dem)ic;
https://londonlovesbusiness.com/ian-bla ... -lockdown/
One rule for them and another for the peasants, no change there then, move along nothing to see here...

Although Princess Margaret went there by train once upon a time.
You really must get out more, north of Potters Bar? I could help with your visa application if you can pass the DBS check?
