RiS, now that was stretching it. I mentioned Azerbaijan as supporting your post.

More on Male Genital Mutilation.

Circumcision and phimosis stories: 'I'm scared of my own penis' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-48057183

Acceptable to operate if a clear medical need identified.
UNacceptable for any other reason, especially when inflicted on innocent babies & youngsters for religious and/or "cultural" reasons.

"Honour Killings" are tolerated as part of certain cultures but that hardly makes them acceptable in 21st century.

The Jews are always complaining, and with some justification, that nobody likes them.

Why don't they try changing the way they behave?

They are God's chosen people and asking them to change would be sacrilegious.

Because they want to play the martyr. Hence the Jewish mother jokes, which are pretty close to reality.

In reality Israel generates major advances in science, medicine, defense and other technologies. It's not a boil, it's a blessing.
...for example, the WhatsApp hack developed by NSO, and used on human rights lawyers.

I wouldnt label all Jews as such or indeed any other religon , but it is true that all fundamentalists are a pain in the arse and Israel, together with most Arab states do seem to beat even the USA in having rather a lot of these nasty types onboard
I hereby declare the U.S.A. a Pariah state.

I have said it before: Israel follows on the provocation of the Palestinians where few bad guys tend to ruin it for everybody.

Perhaps they are just pissed off about uninvited migrants landing in their country and refusing to assimilate.

General election 2019: Chief Rabbi attacks Labour anti-Semitism record https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50552068

Hardly the stuff of Election Manifesto time is it?

J C’s acknowledged support for the Palestinian cause is acceptable but some of his dining partners over the years haven’t impressed world opinion.

I trust the lack of enthusiasm for the Zionist cause has not been confused with this thread’s title?

Alas any criticism of the Israeli regime seems to attract howls of outrage and cries of ‘foul’ despite the obvious difference in casualty numbers and engagement methods in the current war.

And now, in the other corner, we present;

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-englan ... er-to-them

And Muslim Council for Britain have risen up to say their piece.

Interesting figures quoted for the London seats?!

Question is, should religion interfere or influence the electoral process?

If that kicks off with lots of comments then maybe transfer to a new thread? :-o

We need to keep religion out of politics for a number of reasons. Mainly we need to make decisions based on modern principles and not by a set of old rules

And something more: religion leaders are uncontrolled in a formal, known way. In Western Parliamentary democracies (with all the issues they face) a minimum of control over the leaders is applied. If only people understood what they vote for and could read properly the parties' manifesto.

Your point, once again is well made. Politics like religion sometimes seem synonymous! They are both only so in their villainy.

Said by GG, my Jewish Grandfather who was forced to flee a Russian pogrom, who thereafter in another country married a Christian Irish girl called Kathleen and the rest is GG history!

Rwy in Sight, I suspect you are Greek (I may be be totally wrong) but if I am not wrong bring us the the wisdom of Demos and the Hellenic ancients! We need them!

I have decided (in my arrogant cups) that you are a good bloke and that hereafter I will listen to you as I listen to blokes like Captain Slasher, not always in agreement, but always in friendship and with huge respect to you all here.

Thanks for the kind words. Slasher is the leader. As I am getting older I have a small stock of experience to draw upon. Take care TGG.

Regarding Democracy I am afraid it only works in smallish groups: in Athens with a democracy renowned to our days only male Athenians voted.

Elements of the Tory party perceived as disliking Moslems.
Elements of Labour party perceived as disliking Jews.
Not a lot of perceived dislike of BAMEs, Irish or any of the other traditionally disliked “furriners”.
All this is being waved again in the frenetic atmosphere of a UK General Election.
Is someone somewhere stirring it with nefarious intent or are the outward trappings of 2 religions at permanent (shooting) wars with each other not being well received in Western Europe which considers itself to have outgrown and matured beyond such traditional tribal conflict?
Just a little musing over the muesli......
