Bombing in Sri Lanka.

#1 Post by AtomKraft » Mon Apr 22, 2019 7:40 am

Attacks reported on three churches in Sri Lanka.
Many dead.
Might be revenge for the attack in New Zealand, but too early to be sure.
Dreadful.

Looking increasingly like muslim terrorists. This from facebook by a Muslim peace group (the accompanying video shows a muzz in full rant):

"This is Zahran Hashim, one of the terrorists identified responsible for at least one of the bombings in Sri Lanka. Here is him preaching with a background of Non-Muslim countries in flames, saying the following:

“Islam doesn't permit standing up for National flag. Hindus, Christians, Buddhists as are Non-believers. *Allah created this land for Muslims*; Kafirs have the right to live, only Muslims have the right to rule. Loyalty of Muslims should only be for the Nation ruled by Muslims. It's a sin to live in the West, land of disbelief. Even if a disbeliever does good things, i hate him, because he is a non-believer.”

And from The Australian:

Hence the speculation about “foreign actors”, as Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith put it — in particular Muslim extremists. Only a few dozen Sri Lankan Muslims are thought to have joined the tens of thousands of foreigners who volunteered to fight with the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. Some have worried about more radical forms of Islam being introduced to the island by contact with foreign preachers. Most alarming, in January Sri Lankan police said they uncovered a large cache of explosives at an ISIS training camp in the north of the country; it was apparently intended for use against several Buddhist monuments in the ancient city of Anuradhapura.

One reason to worry about the possible radicalisation of Muslims is that Sinhalese Buddhist extremists have sought to instigate and co-ordinate mob violence against them. A traffic incident in 2018 in which a Sinhalese truck driver was assaulted by four Muslim men (and subsequently died) resulted in days of attacks on Muslim homes and businesses and a large number of injuries. Earlier, in 2014, there was Buddhist-Muslim sectarian violence in several towns in the south fired by the racist speech by a Buddhist monk, Galagodatte Gnarasara, who is now in prison for contempt of court (on a separate matter).

After the Easter bombings, as rumours and incendiary anti-Muslim comments spread like wildfire, the government swiftly shut down all social-media platforms, including WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook and YouTube.

In Ap's case Whatsapp wasn't shut down in time. She has a friend in Sri who sent her her personal photos of the ruins not long after the detonations. They're pretty yekky with body parts and torso stumps among the rubble. Wouldn't blame Snowflakes freaking out if they saw the pics. They were covered up a short time later in sheets by the emergency services.

Just speculation but likely an islamic revenge attack for NZ.

yeah, and families having breakfast... even though it probably won't matter if you are dead. What you were doing right before you got dead, that is.
sometimes it just seems more ruthless?

One wonders where Saint Jacinta of the Blessed Tooth Fairy is? Some of the comment after the Christchurch incident would have us believe that, if not the Second Coming, she could surely save the world.

Security agencies had been watching the National Thowheed Jamath jihadist group, reports said, and had notified police about a possible attack, but the prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the cabinet were not informed, ministers said.
The prime minister was not privy to security briefings following a rift last year with President Maithripala Sirisena, cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne told a press conference.
Mr Senaratne said intelligence agencies had begun issuing warnings about the group on 4 April, after which the defence ministry sent a detailed warning to the chief of police; and on 11 April a memo was sent to the heads of several security divisions.
He said information passed to police included a warning from a foreign intelligence agency about possible attacks by the group, as well as names of members.
From (and more here):- Authorities face scrutiny over advance warnings.

The Canadian media are tripping over their collective foreskins to avoid mentioning the dreaded 'm' word. They're calling Towheed Jamath a group of militants.

Ap's mate today managed to forward a video she took shortly after the bombs went off. Last time she only sent pics before Whatsapp was closed by the Sri guvmint which I mentioned in my above post.

I've seen some pretty horrendous sh!t first hand in my time ...but christ I wasn't prepared to see this particular vid which even I winced at. Apart from being unable to upload iPhone clip format to this thread I don't think I would've posted it anyway. It's not so much the spilled guts and gore but the fact that those who were blown out of the side windows took some minutes to die. I won't go into a full description of everything I saw in the clip for obvious reasons.

The locals know exactly who did it.

A pox on fcuking islam and the apologistic cnuts who defend its murderous actions.

I doubt I have ever heard anyone, atheist, Christian or Muslim who had 'defended' any such actions.

That's just for general information as I know our resident paraphiliac will not read my post.

I don't recall seeing our pathetic Mayor of London promising to increase security around churches.

Somehow this whole Jihad thing, where a committed, even suicidal, movement whose mission is to kill, will at some point be resisted effectively. It might be disruptive to current accommodations of Islam. That's why 'populist' movements are gaining momentum. People are getting weary of this crap.

Sri Lanka illustrates the stake we civilized people have. The striking of Islamic murder is unpredictable, and we're all subject to the random risk that people who gather in groups world-wide are at risk, however small, but any of us could suddenly be caught up in it.

Sri Lankan 'bombing mastermined' named as Moulvi Zahran Hashim.
Had a pretty good idea his name wouldn't be John Smith.

Jacinda Ardern would, I hope, have given the same attention to the Christian victims if this atrocity had happened in New Zealand. I will be interested to hear what the local imams in the two mosques in Christchurch have to say about the Sri Lankan bombings. I hope the local press interview them, in the spirit of fairness.

No one but a deranged fanatic could defend the events in Sri Lanka and it is not just the far left parties who are outraged. I hope the bombers get the same treatment that the Sri Lankans gave the Tamil Tigers.

Just got this from the Whatsapp 320 expat group back in the Gulf. It's in Tamil but you'll pick up what's going on.

The guy in the yellow shirt and other guy sitting with him were overnighting Saudia cabin crew. Poor buggers didn't stand a chance.

Towards the end of the clip you'll see they caught at least one islamic terrorist bastard who was in on the plan - one of FD2's deranged fanatics.

Forwarded to me from Ap's mate:

As the investigations for the horrible Easter Sunday bombings continue, more bizarre details are beginning to emerge. Apart from the fact that the Christian-targeted attack killed over 359 people and has left over 500 people injured, the most unusual aspect of the Sunday’s terrorist attacks is that two of the suicide bombers were found to be the sons of one of Sri Lanka’s richest men, spice trader Mohammad Yusuf Ibrahim.

Mohammad Yusuf Ibrahim is one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent, successful and richest men. He is also a prominent figure in the country’s left-leaning Janatha Vimukti Peramuna Party. He is also a close friend of Sri Lanka’s minister of trade and industry Rasheeth Badruddin and has often attended parties and receptions hosted by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Mohammad Yusuf Ibrahim’s two sons, Imsath Ahmed Ibrahim(33) and Ilham Ahmed Ibrahim (31) were the two suicide bombers who had detonated explosives and blown themselves up at the breakfast buffet of the Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grand hotels, killing dozens of people along with them.

The police had closed in on the Ibrahim family when they discovered that one of the two brothers had entered the hotel with his real name.

As per a report in Firstpost, When the police entered the luxury home in Deamatagoda to conduct searches, they found it to be booby-trapped with explosives. Ilham’s wife Fathima reportedly set off another bomb killing herself, her own three children and three policemen.

Intelligence sources have reportedly stated that the family might have been an operational cell of the ISIS, from the level of expertise and the attempt to wipe out evidence by blowing up their luxury apartment by the terrorists’ wife, the police now suspect the involvement of other family members. Investigators have stated that the extended family is now being investigated into too.

The spice trader Yusuf Ibrahim and his third son Ijas are now being questioned by the police.

The most crucial link, however, can be the millionaire’s fugitive son Ismail, who is the youngest. As per reports, Ismail Ibrahim has been a fugitive after Sri Lankan forces had discovered stockpiles of explosives at a compound at Wanathawillua earlier this year, where the Easter Sunday attackers are now believed to have been trained.

Late last year, Ismail Ibrahim and his associates were allegedly involved in the attacks where they had attempted to destroy Buddhist shrines ancient monuments at Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital city. In late 2018, there were a series of anti-Buddhist hate crimes in Sri Lanka.

It has been revealed now that the bombers were acting on behalf of ISIS. In a video released by its mouthpiece AMAQ, ISIS had yesterday claimed responsibility for the Sri Lanka attacks.

In a 59-second video released yesterday by the AMAQ, ISIS’s media mouthpiece, Zahran Hashmi, the alleged mastermind of the attacks is seen taking a pledge with the alleged suicide bombers, pleading their allegiance to the Islamic Caliphate and the caliphate’s self-proclaimed leader, Abu-Bakr Al Baghdadi

As per reports, the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) had warned the Sri Lankan authorities earlier this month about a possible terrorist attack targeting places frequented by tourists and Indian nationals. The Sri Lankan government had declared that the National Thowheed Jama’ath (NTJ) was behind the attacks. But now that the ISIS has claimed responsibility, the roots and the international support system of the radical Muslim outfits in Sri Lanka seems to run a lot deeper.

The Easter Sunday attacks are being regarded as one of the most sophisticated attacks in recent years. The bombs were all highly impactful and were detonated at precise locations with impeccable timing, ensuring maximum impact and maximum casualties.

The Sri Lankan attacks also give rise to some very serious questions. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the prime minister has already admitted that their government simply failed to act on prior warnings and intelligence. The government has accepted that the attacks were a result of ‘colossal intelligence failure’ on their part. Apart from the obvious intelligence failure and security lapses in their system, the involvement of Ibrahim’s family takes it to a whole another level.

All over the world, the terrorist attacks by radical Islamists are immediately served with long and extensive excuses about how social ills, discrimination, poverty, lack of education, hardships and atrocities lead to terrorism. Even dreaded ISIS terrorists and their brides are painted by a section of media as the victims of torture and discrimination. Even in the Sri Lanka bombings, the left-liberal cabal had jumped in immediately to paint the attacks as a result of social oppression meted out by the Buddhist majority.

In India, self-proclaimed liberals and even journalists like Barkha Dutt have mirrored the Nazis in the past to sympathise with terrorists. All in the name of giving Islamic terrorism a context, the massacre of Kashmiri Hindus was painted as a result of ‘economic domination’ and social inequality as an excuse for the killings, just like the Nazis argued for killing the Jews.

The excuses of oppression, lack of education and other ‘reasoning’ the terror sympathisers often give, have been shattered by Islamic terrorists again and again. Osama Bin Laden was an engineer, Al Zawahiri is a doctor, hundreds of educated, affluent youngsters from families living in the UK, Australia, and the USA had gone to join the ISIS.

However, the involvement of the Ibrahim family shatters all those narratives. The family was rich, politically connected and lived in luxury most Sri Lankans cannot even dream of. It also raises questions on how, even after the suspected involvement of the youngest son in terrorist activities, the family escaped scrutiny and succeeded in carrying out the training, recruitment, logistics, and planning involved in such a large scale attack.

Isn't the scenario laid out above a reprise of the Bin Laden family story?

While the left wing narrative chalks Jihadism off to oppression, injustice, poverty, etc., at the core Jihadism is based on the immutable Islamic doctrine of the Koran, seen by so many Muslims as infallible and unchangeable, that dictates non-Muslims either be converted or killed. As Muslims tend overwhelmingly to vote left wing in Western democracies, the left has been willing to overlook the consequent atrocities that confront us routinely with unpredictable mass murder events, world-wide.

As I see it there is no defense against suicide bombers or explosive bombs in public venues. There are unlimited targets. I'm convinced that until Islam itself suffers unacceptable losses, like WWII Japan and Germany, this scourge is not going to go away. In fact I bet on the cost in lives of innocents increasing exponentially as Islamist murder techniques develop.

So what's the solution? My take is that the Islamic states, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, et al., be economically forced to pay dearly. The tools are economic sanctions, isolation, cutoff of aid and food supplies, and where necessary, military action. And the left needs to recognize its fundamental differences with Islam and drop its alliance with it for the purpose of votes.

That's true, AtomKraft.

The ideals of the Left at its best are pure. The problem is the Left tends to be disruptive and damaging to the culture and well-being of the people. Witness Venezuela, California and major US cities run by the Left. I think you could add the Islamic invasion of Europe as having been accommodated by the Left as well. That's the real world.

Ben, do you use the terms 'Left' and 'Socialist' interchangeably? I recall you said Afghanistan was 'Socialist' and I am sure we have heard that Venezuela is 'Socialist'.

So what is the real threat Ben? The Left? Socialists? or Islamist?
