I didn't watch the tv 'debate' last night and I won't watch it on iPlayer either, but I did enjoy the Guardian pisstake of it:

Any of them, rubbish that they might be, is better than Korbynski.

Before the Maybot left we felt there were no suitable candidates for PM. Having watched last night's debate we are sure.

One thing became obvious last night, the shower of shifty, evasive and babbling candidates have got this far because the true colours of the Tories are EU blue, they don't want to leave, this is why Dominic Rabb, who may actually have got us out, was dumped.
They will crown Boris who will not get us out, but will give an appearance of trying to do so. Job done.

I think Boris has realised that the Tory Party is dead if they don't leave at Hallowe'en. Whether he can persuade his Parliamentary colleagues of this, and/or whether they care, are other questions. Every quote or interview I can find indicates the Party membership will choose Boris. I cannot see how, at the moment, the Leavers can conspire to keep him out of the final two, though they will certainly try. I expect the final three to be two Remainers and Boris, and the Remainer vote will be carefully divided up to try to exclude him, but they don't seem to have the numbers at present to achieve this.

Raab would have been my choice, I'm sorry he's out.

Rory Stewart goes up in my estimation for taking his tie off, a symbolic gesture. I didn't see the debate.

Was that an attempt to re-invent the Goon Show last night?

The Capuchin boy's performance in that show doesn't seem to have impressed his fellow MPs. He's fallen in the water!

Boris for sure. He'll do his best for a negotiated Brexit, and fail. Untrustworthy to the end.

So Gove has been chopped, it is now between Hunt and Boris.
If the Tories elect Boris as PM they deserve everything that is coming to them, he will bluster and dissemble and then not get us out. I heard Max Hastings earlier om R4 PM do a hatchet job on Boris, he has very powerful enemies.

Boris has gone from promising to get us out on 31st October to saying that it is "eminently feasible", he is already running up the white flag.

I have a feeling that Jeremy Hunt may give Boris a run for his money, at least he is prepared to come out and put his case forward rather than hide in the broom cupboard.

Not a hope. He's more remain than May, and even more useless. More importantly, there's every evidence* that both within the Conservative party members, and the general public, the views boil down to support or opposition for Brexit. In that respect, this election is a good thing, in that it gives Conservative members a clear choice. Also, the extended process itself reduces the time available to negotiate anything. Boris has the perfect opportunity to go through the motions then leave with no deal on Hallowe'en. If he doesn't, the Conservatives are surely toast.

If either Rhyming-Slang or Boris fail to get Britain out of the EU on Oct 31, the Tory Party will be **** for at least a decade.

They'll be where Labour was under Foot and Kinnock.

After a decade or two in the wilderness, there might emerge some right-wing extremist, someone like Attila the Hen, who will bring them back to power, but that's a long way away.

Meanwhile, the ghastly LibDems (remember them?) will tuck into the slipstream suction and gain power. Those people have no principles whatsoever and will do anything they can to grab and hold power.

BBC presenters are going to have to attend intensive training sessions. It's H, not C.

It's a mistake I keep making myself, so I won't be throwing any stones ;)))
Besides, they aren't showing favour, I'm sure. I expect all BBC presenters privately refer to all Tory politicians as C, and the compliment is probably returned.
Perhaps the problem could be solved by the BBC changing their standard descriptor to, say, MF. I don't think this would cause aural confusion with any British politicians (though it might with some of their Asian-origin question-askers).

Historical note: Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane was the first person to say MF on live television. and since the opening lines apply so well to current politics
When the truth is found to be lies
And all the joy within you dies...

Unless:- Ms Symonds reportedly shouted ‘get off me’, ‘get out of my flat’ at the would-be Prime Minister.
