...have managed to synthesise a complete replica of our universe which is now stored on some multi-terabyte hard drive ?
Then it is true that inside our Earth there is another one, much bigger at that? :)

Came on a quote in a book last night: "If the BBC had been around in Biblical Times, they would have allowed equal screen time to Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot in the interest of fairness."

I tried to watch "The War of the Worlds" on BBC last night, since it's based on one of my favourite books. Very inaccurate. Depicts spreading of news of the Martian invasion at a speed impossible at the time, verbal expressions not in common use, plot modified to 'widen appeal' and so on. But the two worse things were the universally dark gloomy filming (hey, BBC, the sun does shine occasionally in England) and the ghastly mumbling of the actors. Turned it off after twenty minutes as unwatchable.

Oh, my...

Btw,

- bin hunting me for decades - we had a tape of 'interesting quality', but somehow this "The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one...Still they come." was so impressive.

I am the same age as OFSO, and I vividly remember listening to War of the Worlds on the BBC wireless - probably 1955 . . .

Ooooh dear, another blooper. This time the excuse is timing.

BBC acknowledges 'mistake' in Boris Johnson editing https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50546115

Even in their own rag, the “Radio Times” there’s a recent article criticising radio interviews being cut short before they “crash” the hourly time pips. The reason quoted for this is too many stories being crammed into the limited time space allocated to each programme.

Soon we’ll have the festive season of “Guest Editors” on the Radio4 current affairs programme. A couple of years ago a very striking human interest story and interview was terminated 12 minutes before the scheduled end so’s the interviewer could chat to the guest editor about their normal job, which turned out to be female boxer!! ‘Nuff’ said.

Thank you so much! And why is it so mesmerizing??
Also, I've always been puzzled by the need of humanity to create monsters - some of them very real, too, as it is.

This dreadful WoW series has just finished and I regret wasting 3 hours of my life. How to ruin a brilliant story by an equally brilliant author.
Meanwhile, back in the current century, this is an old clip but posted it LEST WE FORGET!

Now a BBC diversity member manages to crash & burn at a charity event;

Fulfils the selection criteria for Broadcasting House, he’s a BAME, Muslim, left-winger, anti-Brexit and insensitive to feedback!

What the heck’s a BAME? I can’t keep up with all these fandangled new English acronyms. 🙄

Being a left wing anti-Brexit moozy is enough to kick the (Paki?) bastard out on his ear without him even uttering a word.

BAME - Black, Asian, Muslim, Ethnic! It’s got so bad that at RAF Wittering (used to be the main UK Harrier Base when I was there) has, in addition to an officially sanctioned Gay Club, a dedicated BAME organisation sucking up precious staff resources! The previous Station Commander was a declared “in your face” gay, so no surprises as to why the base took that direction (he got promoted to Air Commodore so he’s now, presumably, wreaking his havoc on a wider field).

It’s not the RAF that I belonged to!

Before you answer that one, m’learned friends wearing silly wigs might take too much interest in naming and shaming?

“officially sanctioned Gay Club.....sucking up precious staff resources” ! ! !

An image which has just ruined my lunch. A double entendre perhaps? And would that be a LARGE one, sir? :))

Of course, should (unlikely) Sise be concerned about the bewigged gentlemen, he could just tell me when he was 'Wittering'.

There was some erroneous information in my post and I’ve asked Alison to take it down. My bad. I apologise.
