The disgraceful BBC
Re: The disgraceful BBC
Today's 1300 news was the worst example of editorial incompetence I have ever seen on TV. In progress was an interesting bit on the war in Ukraine with their 'security' man, when 'WHAM', 'Breaking news' - cut him off in mid-sentence to rush out the findings of the court on the Letby court trial. It just could not wait another minute or so to wrap up the other item. Then we had several minutes showing the same pictures over and over, and repeating the same news. The editor need sacking.

Barking. To my surprise it is no longer the BBC Licence fee.
'Watch and record programmes as they're being shown on TV or live on an online TV service, including programmes streamed over the Internet and satellite programmes from outside the UK and
Watch and download bbc programmes on iplayer
Do I really need a licence for Sky or Virgin?

Re: The disgraceful BBC
Hasn't been for ages! It is a 'licence fee' to allow the reception of TV 'signals' and it just so conveniently happens that the revenue goes to.......... the BBCit is no longer the BBC Licence fee
Re: The disgraceful BBC
Just watched the awful spectacle of the BBC trying to stretch a 3 minute news item on the arrest of the escaped prisoner into a 30 minute broadcast. Writhingly embarrassing.

Re: The disgraceful BBC
The bloke was on a bicycle when he was apprehended, apparently, tackled by the cops. There is a sense of the Keystone cops about this whole affair! I wonder if he is the "terrorist" they are making him out to be? Probably just a very naughty boy, who needed a Sergeant Major's boot up his arse, early on in his training!

Last night of the Proms was OK. We could almost hear the grinding of teeth in rage from top echelons of BBC management at the expressions of patriotism.

Re: The disgraceful BBC
That infuriating holier-than-thou Chris Packham has finally attracted negative vibes from Cruella Braverperson, so how will this one play out?

They certainly do employ good headline writers:
"Valuable doll collection set to go under the hammer" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cv2 ... =editorial
It does sound rather drastic..................

imho, this is one of the best programmes the BBC has ever broadcast.
Re: The disgraceful BBC
Indeed it is - I just wallow in admiration at the skills all the team there display. They are all fantastic.

Well, you'd both have to climb over me...
I think I read somewhere that she was a heavy smoker, which may account for this to some extent.

Just the change in her appearance over the series. I said 'fear', not 'know'.

Re: The disgraceful BBC
Ah, OK.
I "read" that she did have weight problems in the past and lost a lot of weight very quickly. She's looking good for someone who must be in her '60s. And she has sometimes a wicked glint in her eyes.
However comma "the" voice of the radio is the blessed Kirsty Young. She has an hour podcast talking to all sorts of folk with incisive but gentle questioning. I could listen to her voice all day, sigh.
A similar voice to enchant is the Greek lady Maria Farantouri, even as a young woman (I first heard her in 1966). Her voice strikes right to my heart with its resonance. Sigh again.

Re: The disgraceful BBC
Talking of voices - I was employed by a German company and I communicated mostly by telephone.
One regular contact had the most sexy voice and I eagerly looked forward to our frequent phonecalls.
Her name was Angelika.
I was warned by others not to get my expectations up for when I eventually got to meet her face to face.
Indeed she wasn't 'beautiful' but was definitely attractive in a homely sort of way.
And oh - that voice!
