I can understand that, after all some do say that ignorance is bliss.

Take a look at the facebook page of james gary dennison who today posted photographs and comments related to a project we did in North Korea about 20 years ago.

Might be more useful were you to copy photographs and text and re-post on here. Like most people I’m not minded to go trawling through Facebook. I’m happy to remain in ignorance if the stuff isn’t re-posted.

I think for you ignorance is the best choice.

Is it the same project you posted a riveting narrative you posted here few months ago?

Yes, but this is someone else's account of the project and includes comments on how the project came to be and what was the eventual outcome. It also includes several photographs.

I did go look and didn't see anything, so I assume it's friends-only stuff. So no one else need waste their time.

And really, what does DPRK airspace have anything to do in the big scheme of things? When and if the time comes to take out NK's military assets, airspace sovereignty flies out the window. Same holds true regarding Iran.

What's going on now is a try-corner diplomatic dance between the US, China, and NK. As of today, I think President Trump is holding 3 Kings, Xi is holding 3 Jacks and Kim is holding a pair of 3s. Deal.

I understand that DPRK airspace is critical for flights to China from America

Looking at the great circle paths, it wouldn't be that hard to fly either side of NK. Assuming China would allow passage to the north of the NK border for flights to Beijing, and I know that coming into Shanghai they go south.

I retired from flying in 2016 so I'm not up to speed on the latest, but I flew commercial routes to Shanghai, Incheon and Beijing from LA, Seattle and Detroit and routes from Hong Kong to Anchorage, probably 500 times over the years. I never flew into NK airspace once. I only observed the darkness of that benighted land as I flew astride it.

Good for the environment - more countries should adopt it . . .

Argentina recently tried out the concept.

As any amateur astronomer in the UK, and many other countries, will tell you, light pollution is a menace.

Maybe so, Plum. My observation, though, correlates more with people being well-fed, living in a vibrant economy, and as such able to experience interesting lives with culture, cuisine, and to create innovations that benefit us all. While their light pollution may be a menace to some I think the lack of it is more a menace to those enduring under that absence of light.
