m That is a typical Anti Trump statement. You have no idea who he will select, but you have already decided whoever will be an "Absolute horror"

"Wait and see." What is happening now quite remarkable, We are being told that both Trump and Biden are to "OLD" to even be considered for President by many people, yet it would appear to be quite acceptable to have an 87 year old, who is in and out of hospital for various reasons, to be a member of the Supreme Court. To my way of thinking the tenure of a seat on the Supreme Court should surely be for a specified time or until a predetermined age is reached.

Re: Chaos in USA
That's a good point, prospector, but historically most SC justices retire before they die, even though the appointment is for life. In the more recent case of Justice Scalia, who died suddenly and unexpectedly, the vacancy was quickly filled and the court proceeded mostly unaffected, as a Republican president appointed a replacement conservative, though Scalia was a luminary and his replacement, Neil Gorsuch, has yet to make a mark.
I think the idea of life appointment of SC justices is a good one. It removes them from the political wind and allows them to apply their presumably preeminent judicial and constitutional judgments answering only to the Constitution. We might pay a price if they get old and feeble-minded, but the other eight justices generally hold the fort. The Supreme Court has an indispensable role to play in our three planked Constituitional government process.

Gun violence has surged across the US 07:00
(CNN)At least 49 people have been shot, including seven fatally, in incidents across Chicago this weekend, police said, continuing a trend of increased shootings and murders in the city.
Seven teenagers, all boys, were among those wounded in multiple shootings reported since Friday evening, police said.
One victim, a 24-year-old woman, was standing on the sidewalk in a residential area "when she heard shots (and) felt pain," police said in a statement. She went to Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left thigh and a gunshot wound to the buttocks. She is in fair condition, police said.
Hours earlier, a 35-year-old man was shot in the neck and died of his injuries at Northwestern Hospital. The man and a 25-year-old woman waved down police from a car after both had been shot around 2:35 a.m. Sunday, police said in a statement. The woman is in good condition but uncooperative with police, police said.
The violence fits a trend seen across major US cities this year: a sharp rise in shootings and murders in the past few months, even as overall crime complaints have declined. These trends coincide with the end of pandemic-related shutdowns and the mass protests against police violence and racism.

Homicides are surging in US cities. Some say defunding the police will actually make it fall
As of July 12, Chicago police reported 385 murders this year, a 48% increase from at the same point in 2019, and 1,541 shootings, a 46% increase from the same point last year.
The increase has been particularly stark in the past month. There were 116 reported murders in the 28 days before July 12, about three times the murders in the same period in 2019.
Total crime complaints are down 9% compared to last year, led by steep declines in theft and criminal sexual assault incidents, according to Chicago police.
Compared to 2016, crime complaints have declined 23%, with 10% more murders so far this year but 11% fewer shooting incidents. Historically, this year's murders and shootings are well below the heights of the 1990s, when crime peaked in US cities.
Crime experts believe this year's increase in murders and shootings relates to the heightened distrust between police and the communities they serve, exemplified by Black Lives Matter protests across the country.
Richard Rosenfeld, a criminologist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, said it's highly likely that widespread social unrest in response to George Floyd's death and other police violence is contributing to an increase in violent crime. When people don't trust the police, he said, they're more likely to take matters in their own hands.

I'm pleased the about to be defunded police could help but the "uncooperative" tells you exactly why police in Chicago can't stifle crime. 35 year old man, 25 year old woman, 2.35 am, probably prostitution which is why she's not talking.Hours earlier, a 35-year-old man was shot in the neck and died of his injuries at Northwestern Hospital. Unless they want help. Why the heck should distrust of police cause more blacks to kill each other?Crime experts believe this year's increase in murders and shootings relates to the heightened distrust between police and the communities they serve, exemplified by Black Lives Matter protests across the country.
Unless your white of course because that would be illegal. When people don't trust the police, he said, they're more likely to take matters in their own hands.

He was the second ‘easterner’ to discover the continent of America. The Icelanders did it first centuries before, they hung around for about 10 years, fell out with the locals and pi55ed off back to Iceland.
Chris C and the other Europeans followed later, so the ‘cream’ of England, France and Spain colonised the place and as a result we’ve got the mess we see today.

And still the dumb **** think that the answer is to have more guns.

Plum:
The problem is not the number of guns overall, but the number of illegal guns.
I am willing to bet that not a single gun used in any of the shootings was legally possessed. Furthermore, I will also bet that almost all, if not all, of the shooters would not be able to legally possess one.
I would guess that most all of the shooters have had numerous interactions with the authorities and are well known to law enforcement.

Re: Chaos in USA
As long as the gangs are taking care of each other nobody else needs more guns, just leave the criminals to take care of each other.
And before you criticize and talk about all the youngsters etc. being killed remember this is because rival gang members don't give a darn about collateral injuries as long as they eventually hit their target. I suspect they think that family members are fair game because it drives the message home that nobody should go against them.
You really have no idea about how callous these people can be.

Re: Chaos in USA
I dunno if this is 'Fake News'. Or whatever, but I was sent it from a rather right wing Republican that I know.
BILLY GRAHAM’S SON IS TELLING THE SAD TRUTH - NEVER SAID BETTER
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Franklin Graham was speaking at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville , Florida , when he said America will not come back. He wrote:
“The American dream ended on November 6th, 2012. The second term of Barack Obama has been the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest republic in the history of mankind. A coalition of blacks, Latinos, feminists, gays, government workers, union members, environmental extremists, the media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America.
You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take zealots, not moderates and shy, not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.
People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will probably never again be able to legally comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired. The Cocker spaniel is off the front porch, the pit bull is in the back yard, the American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and the likes of Chicago shyster David Axelrod along with international socialist George Soros have been pulling the strings on their beige puppet and have brought us Act 2 of the New World Order.
The curtain will come down but the damage has been done, the story has been told.
Those who come after us will once again have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness..”
Got the guts to pass it on? You bet I do and just did....

Some of these people are really showing their lack of respect for their own laws now. It must be that this attorney gets overruled by more senior people, and how did she ever get the job with the degree of bias shown. Just goes to show what the world can expect if these protestors get their way.

It is likely why the Dems and the far left are prepared to destroy the country, at all costs and any means possible ,to get Trump out of office as they know that if Trump gets a second term that he will get two if not three more Supreme Court appointments.llondel wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:19 pmAccording to the precedent laid down by Moscow Mitch, a vacancy now should be left vacant for whoever wins in November to fill.Undried Plum wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:45 pmRuth Bader Ginsburg is seriously ill with a recurring lung cancer.
