Re: Chaos in USA
Does anyone think this is a trumped up affair and an appalling way for the USA to behave?
I think it will bring the Republicans solidly behind him.

If the radical left hasn't been so hell bent on stealing the 2020 election they'd now be 17 moths away from never having to deal with Trump again.
Instead they are now 17 months away form 4 more years of Trump presidency. Well played...

Re: Chaos in USA
Which could be worse: Trump, Trump, who? or Trump, Biden, Trump?
For a nation of over 300 millions they are split between two septuagenarians.

One embarrassing, the other extremely embarrassing.
Re: Chaos in USA
But surely, in a Constitutional Federal Republic, arguably the greatest the World has ever seen, the idea of 'stealing' an election would involve so many players it would be impossible to pull off. A conspiracy up there with 911 being an inside job, just too many people required to pull it off.If the radical left hasn't been so hell bent on stealing the 2020 election
Doesn't pass the 'Pub test'. I may be wrong but I would have thought the checks and balances in the USA would make it impossible. If it is possible, than its an admission that something is very wrong in the system.

When an electronic voting system is introduced that can be accessed by the manufacturer on-line, ie iit is hackable, you have to be concerned. There is at least one proven case of "excess" voters.

Re: Chaos in USA
Trump is slowly falling from favour. He's being prosecuted because there's a lot of evidence that he committed crimes, and a lot of that evidence is coming from those who were around him at the time. If he's innocent then he should just push for speedy trials to get them out of the way before he goes properly on the campaign trail.
Re: Chaos in USA
He is one more indictment away from sealing his Republican nomination on the way to 1600.

Re: Chaos in USA
Apparently his mug shot has already raised 7 million dollars for the campaign. Very odd.
Re: Chaos in USA
The t-shirts that are being hawked with his mug shot have the caption: "Never Surrender".
Surrender is the legal term for what he did by turning himself in rather than being arrested if he did not turn himself in.
Irony is strong with this one!

https://www.the-independent.com/news/wo ... 00593.htmlFormer president Donald Trump’s trial for conspiring to overturn his 2020 election defeat will begin on 4 March 2024, the federal judge overseeing the case has said.
Judge Tanya Chutkan on Monday said she understood “all too well” the need for Mr Trump’s counsel to prepare for trial, but said the government’s efforts to organise evidence turned over in pre-trial discovery would aid those efforts.
“I take seriously the defence’s request that Mr Trump be treated like any other defendant ... but I also want to point out that most defendants do not receive this level of ... organised and summarised discovery,” she said

Re: Chaos in USA
Oh sweet revenge after all the Trump cards have been played by those saintly holier-than-thou “Democrats”;

So is the USA legislature fit for purpose or should it be subjected to the Nth Amendment?
Before the pedants pile on, yes I acknowledge thread drift but this does not belong in the US Hamsterwheel pigeon hole!

Re: Chaos in USA
It shows that McCarthy is weak - if he doesn't do it then the extreme wing of his party will kick him out, and being Speaker is more important to him than good government. I seem to remember him promising a vote of the full House before taking this step, but he knows he wasn't got the votes for it to pass, which will irritate the extremists, so he's decided to skip the vote.
It will be interesting to see what evidence they can manufactureuncover, and even more interesting to see if they get enough votes to pass any articles.

Hasn’t there been questions over who owns the copyright of the photo?

Further to that, https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/1 ... e-00115393 suggests that the probe is invalid.
Joe Biden has a literal Trump card to play against the House’s new impeachment inquiry.
In January 2020, the Donald Trump-led Justice Department formally declared that impeachment inquiries by the House are invalid unless the chamber takes formal votes to authorize them.
That opinion — issued by the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel — came in response to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry into Trump without initially holding a vote for it. Not only is it still on the books, it is binding on the current administration as it responds to Tuesday’s announcement by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to authorize an impeachment inquiry into Biden, again without a vote.
