Top radio news in UK is that Plod has been perceived as being inconsistent but heavy-handed in their policing of the recommendations and restrictions placed on movement due to Covid-19.

Within weeks of the previous criticism of Plod by a High Court judge we now have a different bewigged beak criticising the ‘boys in blue’ and using phraseology which doesn’t bode well for the maintenance of law and order.

For a senior judge to use wording like “disgraceful” and “police state” follows on from the previous comments about “Gestapo and Stasi” in the UK made by Justice Knowles in the Harry Miller case.

In the UK we have the law and we have noises made by ministers who think they can make up law ‘on the hoof’ and Plod find themselves uncertain as to what is statute. They are also sandwiched between a n untrusting public and the legislature whilst also being drastically undermanned thanks to a Tory administration’s previous obsession with austerity.

There is no doubt we are in a wartime mode of emergency handling of the plague but the actions of senior Plod will be critical in trying to maintain some form of order at a time when trust in the Establishment and it’s actions is at an all-time low.

Before certain members of this forum climb onto their soapboxes to decry my attitude, in no way do I support or defend the actions of the irresponsible hordes as depicted, all I’m saying is the method(s) of dealing with this indiscipline need to be more carefully thought out and exercised. Why are WE paying Chief Constables so much to administer their ‘manors’ and why are we wasting money on Police & Crime “Commissioners” and their costly staff if this is the end result?

Having seen pictures of plods at car windows, well inside the 2 metres, I think they need to set a better example.

Before the lock down a woman had run off the A1, the back was still in the lane. Police car was behind and plod was at her window which was open a crack.

Have you noticed how scruffy and unwashed many policemen are, with their American style lorry drivers uniform and unshaven they look like bin men. Why is it Government policy to turn a smartly turned out uniformed officer into a slob, do people join the police because they wish to look like homeless tramps, or are homeless tramps the only people who will join the police?

At least, unlike the MSM bletherers, he appears to have actually read through legislation and treaties, quoting chapter, paragraph and verse.
To me and others he is more convincing than the Remoaners who are regularly trotted out by UK MSM.

The government need a very large boot up the rear entrance. The handling of supplies of equipment and testing has been diabolical. Wheeling out mealy-mouthed politicians like Hancock in front of cameras to announce - what - 3 weeks ago? - that "150 lorries were on their way the hospitals with PPE equipment" when either they didn't arrive or were full of time-expired or useless stuff: Hancock should be tried in court if he doesn't die from the virus. Peoples' lives - people we desperately need - are being frittered away. What about the "25,000 tests on their way"? Tonight ITV said only 2000 NHS workers have been tested since THE BEGINNING of this outbreak.

When this is over, we need to get rid of the braying, baa-ing MP's in the House and get a government that can and will govern. Interesting BoJo is 'absent' from the spotlight. He is rapidly taking on the mantle of a sham and snake-oil salesman like his idol in the US.
