We had a terrace and patios laid last month. The company that made the slabs initially gave a 3 months waiting list for the slabs and offered a limited range. In the event they met the order in 4 weeks through rushing the work.
Timber product prices have soared through Covid induced reduction in capacity and Covid induced demand.
There will be losers but also winners.

Having announced that CO2 is needed to stun pigs before slaughter, farmers have said that without supplies of CO2 they will be forced to slaughter their pigs.

The idea is that if they are to enter the human food chain, they have to be slaughtered in a certain way. If the farmers do them, it means they can only boil them down for meal.

He's half-right, but not for the reason he thinks.

It's neither the furlough nor its discontinuance which is going to bring the edifice crashing down.

It is the insane level of 'money' "printing" which will reach that tipping point to which he refers.

Something like 30% of all Dollars ever brought into existence were created either last year or this. Note that not one of those Trillions of Dollars represent new wealth. It's all totally fake 'money' which is brought into existence at the push of a few keyboard buttons which create those Trillions in the form of Debt. That 'money', which is created by the creation of yet more debt, is only as good as the expectation that one day somebody somewhere is going to do free work to pay off those debts.

That repayment is never going to happen. They'll just roll the debt over by creating more debt and thus creating ever more of that ersatz 'money' which has no work behind it.

I mention the Dollar, but the Pound and the Euro and several other currencies are all valued in terms of the Dollar so they are practically synonymous.

If you look at the recent prices of something tangible, such as natural gas prices, you can see how the balance of 'money' to real value is going.

The US company which makes most of the food grade CO2 does so as a byproduct of the manufacture of fertiliser from natural gas. Gas prices have gone nuts, as have prices of so many other commodities in the past coupla years, because there's a vast surplus of Dollars/Pounds/Euros sloshing around the system. The price went so high that they can't make a profit on the sale of fertiliser, so they shut the two main production facilities down.

Now HMG has had to do a deal with the bastards, funded by the issuance of yet more debt, ie moneyprinting, to persuade them to restart production. And so the cycle goes on.

The moneyprinting cycle is unstoppable. You can't taper a Ponzi scheme. When it eventually reaches the end of the road it crashes.

Eventually, of course, there will come that catastrophic crash. Fiat currency will revert to its true value -- which is zero.

Boris Johnson admits he has six children (That he knows of)

London (CNN)Boris Johnson has finally admitted that he has six children, a question he has previously dodged in numerous interviews and press conferences.

The British Prime Minister, speaking to NBC's Today show on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, was asked by an interviewer if he had six children, to which he replied "yes."
The number of children sired by Johnson has been a talking point in British politics for many years, after an English court discharged an injunction banning news organizations from reporting the existence of a daughter as the result of an extra-marital affair.
Johnson has four children with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler, one daughter from the affair, and a son with his wife Carrie Johnson, who he married earlier this year.
Johnson told NBC it was "fantastic" having a baby in 10 Downing Street, but that it was also "a lot of work."
"But I absolutely love it," he added. "I change a lot of nappies."
In August, Carrie Johnson announced on Instagram that the couple were expecting a second child and revealed she had suffered a miscarriage earlier in the year.
The couple's son, Wilfred, was born in April 2020, shortly after Mr Johnson had been hospitalized with Covid-19 symptoms so severe that he was admitted to an intensive care unit.
Wilfred, the couple have since said, was given the middle name of Nicholas in tribute to the doctors that the Prime Minister said had saved his life following his Covid-19 illness.
It's unclear why Johnson decided now to confirm the existence of a child he has avoided talking about.

Looks like there’s a u-turn in Boris’s tunnel

Plans for a tunnel to Northern Ireland have been shelved by Boris Johnson after Chancellor Rishi Sunak ruled it was too expensive.

The Prime Minister has spoken repeatedly of his dream of a bridge or tunnel linking the province to the rest of the UK.

But speaking to reporters while in the United States, he said it would not be included in forthcoming plans to improve Britain's creaking infrastructure.

Asking people not to panic buy petrol is totally counterproductive. It actually causes people to go to their nearest petrol station and top up the car's tank 'just in case'.

The total volume of car tankage is vastly greater than the total volume of the tanks under the forecourts, so if everybody tops up on the same day the stations will all run out of stock on that day.

It's a bit like a run on a bank. If customers think that the bank is about to run out of money they all queue to pull as much of their deposits as they can. No bank can withstand a run as they lend vastly more than they take in deposits. Remember Northern Rock? As soon as BBC News broadcast the fact the the bank was having difficulty getting funds from fellow banks there was immediately a massive queue outside every branch of that bank in the country.

It should be drilled into every cabinet minister's head that you should never ever tell the public not to panic buy. If they tell people not to buy something, such as bog-roll, it's totally predictable what will happen.

We are governed by morons. Absolute chaos here on the high street. Long traffic jams, people beset with an aura of panic with scuffles nearly breaking out where people were adjudged to have jumped the queues.

Unbelievable! This morning I was stuck behind the queue of cars trying to get into the local Co-op petrol station. Couldn't overtake them as there was a queue for fuel on the other side of the road as well and of course nobody in the nearside queue would let anyone in from that side. Chaos! I don't think I have ever been so disallusioned with our inept politicians - even when Labour was in power.
