WTF is happening in the UK?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
The interesting thing is that the prevalence of flu in the UK is less than expected and thought to be due to the modified life-style of 83% of us.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
A Covid Case is a positive result from a person with or without symptoms, where the test has detected live Covid virus or parts of a dead earlier virus, or parts of any other virus from years ago, or where the lab is overwhelmed by too many tests so they declare them all positive, or where you haven't even sent your test sample in but your name is on a 'list', or where samples got mixed up in the lab, or where the authorities wanted to make a case for stricter regulations. Or when SERCO needs more money...
Other than the last one, I've heard all the others mentioned.

Thanks for the ‘clarification’ OFSO. It’s the best definition I have seen since the start of the pan(dem)ic!
Here is some disturbing news from officialdom in the UK, indicating the traces of the awful toll in ‘collateral’ damage which may put the Covid shock horror stats into the right perspective in the not too distant future;

As also is the prevalence of gastroenteritis and food poisoning episodes as Homo sapiens has finally discovered it’s a good idea to wash one’s hands following certain activities?

The tacking of the phrase ".....and save lives" onto the end of every speech spluttering from Govenment ministers mouths is beginnning to sound very hollow and what it is....a tacky tack line. Also the use of "....and protect the NHS", can be viewed similarly.

"Shielding the economy" is another one which gets on my tits.
They intend to kill as many people as it will take to make the richest people in Britain even richer.
Bastards!

Not quite, Plum - they just intend to make Serco as rich as possible. Simples.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
My last unit was managed by Serco. The contract manager became a close friend. It, and the 3 other sites they had under contract worked well. I think it worked well as I and my fellow officers were on-site contract monitors who knew the detail of the contract and ensured it was fulfilled and more importantly managed with flexibility.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham wanted £65M to agree to Tier 3 - government only offered £60.
Does that mean the Burnham lost out for the sake of £5M?

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
As far as I can see he has 'lost out' to the tune of £43 million? Mind you, the eminently confused BoJo has not exactly been clear on this. Anyone surprised??

See how Boris's thugs and incompetents handle the boys the other side of the Pennines today. Seems to be following the same path as Manchester.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Good article by George Monbiot in Guardian today on unsupervised contracts handed out to friends of Conservatives, and on failures of Baroness Harding.
Meanwhile, doctor managed to get 15 doses of influenza vaccine, so did Mrs OFSO. None for me due to taking antibiotic medication, have to avoid mixing. Frankly I don't care anymore.

That is worth a link https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... -and-trace
How about 'no penalty clause' in Serco's contract for 'Test and Trace' (where it has failed to achieve its targets). Read the article - if true , it is disgusting, simple.

Re: MONEY TALKS, ALWAYS!
Continuing on the topic of mis-spent money, I was watching the spat ‘twixt Andy Burnham and the Downing Street Mafia and wondered at the migration and mutation of the Covid-1984 virus from a public health issue into a financial issue.
Here is a brief article which alas confirmed my worst suspicions, especially when the issue of more money to GPS and hospitals per alleged Covid patient is involved.
Meanwhile the kids’ futures and the grandkids’ futures continue to look increasingly bleak for some short-term financial gain played by interested parties directly benefiting from the current games.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Poor Bonking Boris dug his own bear trap at PMQ without ANY help from the 'Charmer'. Starmer asked him if he could tell Manchester what the criteria for coming out of Tier 3 were. 'They need to get the 'R' rate below 1" flustered BoJo.
I wonder if he has realised that the whole of the UK is currently above 1? Oh dear!

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Seeing as how Boris Johnson’s own ‘R’ rate* is well above unity, should there not be a shutdown operation performed on the mechanism?
*‘R’eproduction rate!
It would make a vas deferens to his productivity but alas too late for any benefit to the UK populace!

vas deferens
I believe it is 5 (as far as we know)?
