With Pincher caught a second time, why lie about the PM not knowing the first time when there is a formal record of same? Nevermind that any PM will will get a briefing on someone's past before appointing them, as does any boss in the entire country before appointing someone who will be in the public eye? It's the incompetence of the lying that's the real problem, not that politicians lie, because everyone has known the latter since the beginning of time. Boris is now lying as his first option, and that means he's not living in the real world. Or does it mean he doesn't care a jot about anything except the Tory Party mechanism for removing him, which he knows currently can't touch him?

I'm guessing that most here don't follow current affairs in the land of Nog, so I'll clue you all in.
Yesterday the Norwegian offshore workers union commenced a strike for more pay. It has been predicted that by the end of this week up to 50% of Norway's gas exports to the UK will be cut. Another couple of weeks and it might all be cut off altogether.
Norway is the most significant exporter of gas to the UK, so it's a non-trivial matter. OK, it's summertime right now, but if this were to have happened next winter things would get a bit dark and cold in the UK quite quickly.

The US is forecasting field crop production to be down 1% this year. The Canadians are forecasting exports to drop by 40% (partly less planted, mostly drought and/or flooding on the Prairies)
There is considerable climatic evidence that the US is being unrealistic in its production forecasts (comparing regions either side of the Prairie border.
So, energy down, food down.
In longer term news out this week.
