Never thought that the loss of taste and smell would be so notable. Gambas with chillis - nothing. Not even like cardboard. Nothing. Came back a week later. Mrs OFSO didn't lose her senses.

Yes the English are totally forgot*kin insane. Article in the "Guardian" today says how British i.e. English are terrified of the forthcoming Freedom Day when from then on nobody will be wearing masks, everyone will be in each other's faces down the pub, and everyone will catch Covid. Do the English actually have to be told that if they are worried they can go on taking whatever precautions they see fit? Evidently, yes.

Perhaps the idiots believe HMG? Poor fools.

From 'The I':
"A vaccination site in Brighton has been forced to postpone jabs after being obstructed by anti-lockdown demonstrators.
Pictures on social media suggest that anti-lockdown protestors were pictured swarmed around a vaccination bus on the seafront on Saturday."
One has to hope that these brainless vermin do not hold any responsibilites in life.

I see Piers Corbyn was there leading from the front.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
The last word in your post, above, rhymes with a word describing Piers Corbyn. Can this be a Coincidence..
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
I heard a brief news item today that I understand to mean that it is proposed that only people who speak the Welsh language can apply for Government jobs in Wales. Over 80% of the people who live in Wales can't/won't speak the Welsh language, so this in effect excludes four fifths of the population applying for positions, this will obviously lead to people being employed who speak Welsh rather than applicants suited to the job by experience or qualifications.
At first glance this appears to be just another example of leftie/woke/nationalist nonsense, however it occurs to me that the Welsh government have very cleverly put in place an unarguable system to prevent the incoming boat people from living and working in Wales.
Although the viet taff are not as vocal and unpleasant as the SNP it is obvious that trouble is brewing, perhaps we should stop going there on holiday until they behave themselves.

Now that is something our local council could try: applicants to be fluent in ENGLISH and Polish or Portuguese.

I recollect I think that my father who died at the age of 92 in 1997 at some point in his career as Chief Librarian applied for a job in Wales and was told he had to speak Welsh. He learned some foreign languages when he started his working life - it was mandatory then - but not Welsh so we never went there.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Welsh is not a foreign language . . .

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Yup.
The pubs will be open all day and half the night, though for some reason they will have to close at midnight because the virus wears a wristwatch set to timezone Alpha and gets horny when twelve bells toll.
The haphazard different levels for different counties will continue until Boris says they don't on the 19th of this month.
Does any of it make any sense to anyone? Not to me, it doesn't.
The Embra Festival Fringe is set to go ahead as if the virus never happened. 200,000 visitors from almost 200 hundred different countries, all cheek by jowl for three weeks at the peak of the worst global pandemic since since 1918. What is so predictable about the outcome of this madness?

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Can't beat Catalunia earlier this year when we could drink coffee sitting down in a café until 09:30 and then could continue to drink it but standing up. Obviously Corona virus only attacks seated people after 09:30. Or something.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
TFL are apparently 'mandating' masks on their system. Enforcement will be interesting.

Had a beautiful coffee in an hotel at 9.20 am, just popped in for the toilet - only £2.50. Will certainly go there again.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Actually saved £2. The cafe up the street looked more attractive but the hotel was far more comfortable, settle in a bay window and a paper to read too.
