WTF is happening in the UK?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Beach-goer spokesman and his mate:
The man told the BBC that he was not concerned about social distancing despite the beach being a 'bit hectic', saying: 'We're going to have a couple of drinks, enjoy the sun.
'It's the closest we're gonna get to a holiday this year, so got to enjoy it really.'
His friend responded 'we've had two (holidays) cancelled already', before he added: 'I still don't know anyone that's even had it [Covid-19] so in my eyes, it doesn't really matter.
'But yeah, as long as everyone's safe, but it's getting a bit hectic down here now isn't it? It's probably going to cause a second wave, people are just doing what they want aren't they?'

That's alright then innit?

The 'spokesman' was probably the more articulate of the two. The other could probably only communicate in grunts.
I sat on a train once and there were two young females behind me whose entire coversation for an hour consisted of :
"Oh that's so lovely, innit?" with the occasional change to : "Oh that's so sweet innit", or "Oh 'e looks 'ot". They were looking at one of those inane 'celebrity' picture magazines.

This fiasco (completely predictable) orchestrated by this government who have now just allocated £500 million to prop up an American Satellite company that went bankrupt recently and tout them as an alternative to GPS, Gallileo and the Chinese BeiDou!

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
+1 ! Is this the first gurgle of the UK draining the swamp? Listening to the steam wireless this morning one could sense the gagging in the throats of the presenters in case the phrase “Brexit foulup” accidentally slipped outa their mouths.
It’s quite a few years since we in the UK were shown exactly how the misnamed Civil Service worked via the medium of the TV series ‘Yes Minister’ and later ‘Yes Prime Minister’. And now in 2020 have those chickens finally come home to roost but are discovering the Cummings fox inside the coop?
Edit: The latest from ‘Buy a Mug’ Jeff Taylor manages to weave into the plot the awesome task of reforming the UK education system and seizing control of that empire back from the Looney Left who’ve presided over it for too long with the damaging effects we’re all observing today. Good luck with that one!

Oh! I wish!
At least in Westminster the Applebys and Bernards are mostly a bit neutral, politically, in their shenanigans.
The denizens of the Leith Numptorium and Bute House and St Andrew's House in Embra are rabid Nazionalists, self-selectedly so.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Alas the only party who has put their money where their mouth is regarding 'swamp draining' is dear Nigel's lot as per this menu;
"The way the political Establishment has conspired to frustrate democracy over Brexit has highlighted the need for fundamental political reform. The Brexit Party can deliver real democratic change because we are not part of the Westminster status quo. It is now time for a debate on a written constitution. We pledge to:
• Reform the voting system to make it more representative.
• Abolish the unelected House of Lords.
• Make MPs who switch parties subject to recall petitions.
• Overhaul the postal voting system to combat fraud and abuse.
• Reform the Supreme Court – judges who play a role in politics must be subject to political scrutiny. Ensure political balance by broadening participation in the Selection Commission or conduct interviews by Parliamentary Committee.
• Make the Civil Service more accountable to the public – we would require civil servants to sign an oath to act with political neutrality.
• Phase out the BBC licence fee.
• Require Universities to incorporate an obligation to protect legal free speech.
• Introduce Citizens’ Initiatives to allow people to call referendums, subject to a 5m threshold of registered voter signatures and time limitations on repeat votes."
I do wonder how much of this 'meal' is being consumed in the back room at # 10 Downing Street as several items on the 'menu' seem to crop up more regularly now than in previous decades.

What voting system would be more 'representative'?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Is the £1bn Dominic is promising for 'education' the same £1bn that Gove cut from the Education budget when he was MInister for Education? I hope it has been invested somewhere at a good interest rate.............
Are the rumoured "40 new hospitals" the same 40 we were promised last year? More snake oil please.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Is the move of David Frost into Sedwill's National Security office in late August of concern for the Brexit negotiations? Who is replacing Frost?
The new 'Cabinet Secretary' will, it seems, continue to be from the Civil Service and has to be a current or former permanent secretary

BOAC, you were never an accountant?
They use double entry and politicians do too.
Do you remember the Grigg Committee pay rises? "Forces get 7% pay rise spread over 2 years, 3% this year..."

By modern standards it should be taken down and smashed.
After all the Romans enslaved us Britons and from what I've read, those used as working slaves were the lucky ones.
Then wasn't there a thing where the Vikings also did a bit of enslaving?
