WTF is happening in the UK?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Based on what I know from public sources I think that Johnson has faced the most challenging times since WW2, coupled with the fact that he appears to still be suffering from his serious illness only a few months ago and was unable to take a few days holiday in peace I think that he is coping remarkably well.
From what we know he is appearing to be holding his nerve on the Brexit negotiations and is doing what he promised to do, the Covid pandemic has given every opportunity for the remainer/leftie critics to carp about his every move, but he seems to be balancing the economy, the medical decisions and supporting families financially in about a reasonable way as possible, no doubt he has made mistakes, but who wouldn't, I certainly can't think that Swinson or Corbyn would have made a better job of it.
Whilst you may disagree with my opinion, I hope that you find it more constructive than simple childish and unpleasant insults, but I doubt if you will.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
With ‘Sir’ Ed Davey possibly sparring with ‘Sir’ Kier Starmer in the HoC next week, will we be treated to the sight of Knights jousting after all these years?
Q. Can one catch Covid-1984 from being poked in the face with a lance? Postage stamp not supplied.

Why the 'Sir'? Do you not acknowledge the Queen's bestowing of a knighthood?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
I doubt that HM leafs through the redtops and then decides who to knight.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
It’s all total bollocks as per the entire current honours system (no capital letters deserved).
boac, can you tell me from your encyclopaedic memory what have those 2 ‘sirs’ done to deserve the title?
Extra paper can be provided beyond the standard answer sheet postage stamp.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
No. However, I did not knight them? Your Monarch did.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Well done G-CPTN, sir - you are correct!

Better check on that opinion with BM. I don't think he agrees.

“Matt Hancock in Christmas Warning. Health Secretary offers sobering warning as he outlines fears of a second wave of Coronavirus. ‘A very serious threat’ “.
I must add him to my Xmas card list as he’ll probably end up feeling unwanted by year’s end.

Not really sure he'll last that long. How about a Halloween card?
Complaining about your MP
Anyone know how to complain about your MP? Mine, Andrew Griffith, has failed to respond properly to 3 queries I have raised. Two have not even been acknowledged, one on the poor state of broadband in his constituency and one on his 'position' on the south coast illegal immigrants. The first one was 'answered' after several weeks by forwarding my query to a government department (which I could have done) from which I received a totally anaemic and predictable response.
Next step - contact the Conservative party (on-line). No response to initial contact and a follow-up. The problem is the guy is a 'shoe-in' mate of BoJo's moved into a very safe seat for the last election following the standing down of Nick Herbert, who was good.
What next?

Keep your right hand in your pocket.
The wancker doesn't need your help and you cannot provide him with any.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Very helpful since I did not vote for him last time. Do you know what "a very safe seat" means?

How about printing off some flyers with the offender’s photograph and the message “Has anyone seen this man? If so, please contact (his office contact details)”
Attached to lamp posts, particularly within sight of his local constituency office, might just produce a reaction, but don’t get Bill Stickers of prosecution fame to distribute the flyers.
That might shame him into responding to his constituents before the next G E looms large?
My MP actually suggested coming to my house to discuss a particularly thorny issue and even had a date/time pinned down but mysteriously cried off at a late stage. I am now mentally composing a dry response to the sudden cancellation, a new appointment not having been mentioned since.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
I complained to my MP about having to pay the BBC £157.50 so that I can own a TV set. I received a reply from one of her staff the next day asking for my address and postcode so that she could give me a reply.(I used e mail why couldn't she?). Still waiting for the reply but it has only been two weeks.

The MP wants to check that you are a constituent (resident within their constituency).1DC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 10:31 amI complained to my MP about having to pay the BBC £157.50 so that I can own a TV set. You are developing a very proprietorial air with this site, anyone would think that you wished that you were a moderator or something. Ask admin whether I have offered to fund the site. So, have you helped fund the site?
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
I have your PM. Thank you.
The nice thing about this site is that we do not need moderators.
