Whilst I am now forced to admit that Boris is a total disaster, as a PM and likely as an MP as well, no-one on this forum elected him as the former. I am sure you are well aware that the method of selecting PM's is outwith any influence of the general electorate.

You actually mean you didn't realise who was going to be PM?

Smeagol, could I ask you to not to quote so freely, in order to enhance my enjoyment of this forum I use the ignore button and quotes often bring up posts that I would prefer to remain unread.
You are right of course, even those of us that could be bothered to get out of bed and cast our vote had no say in who the Conservatives would select as leader, they seem to have followed the tradition of choosing duff leaders, (May, Cameroon), but at least they are keeping socialists out, that is the main thing.

Om, your last is true. In reality that was probably for the least bad option.

One is of the opinion that both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party are socialist. One leans more to the right while the other leans to the left but both are, in essence, socialist.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Lars, I think that you are bang on there. Much of the disillusionment about Johnson is due to his leftie ways, my guess is he will be gone early next year, we can only hope we then get to enjoy a traditional Conservative MP.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Indeed!
However, one notes that the "party of low taxation" has increased taxation to levels not seen in at least a generation.
The other party quite simply does not seem to have any plans.
Sad really. We deserve better but to get that we would need candidates, from all sides, of a certain moral fibre. Given the abysmally low esteem in which politicians in general are held, I cannot see the 'profession' attracting that many capable candidates.

It surely cannot be long before the spoof Peppa Pig videos arrive, starring Carrie Pig and Priti Pig with Uncle *Jacob Pig and all the other pigs with their noses in the trough, splashing about gleefully in muddy puddles.
Does one assume that Bonking Boris possibly did not pay full whack for his exciting day out and will be declaring such in the Register of Benefits (The cheapest family ticket to Peppa Pig World starts at over £100)?
*AKA Jacob Rees-Hogg

Remember Brezhnev:
After a speech, Brezhnev confronts his speechwriter. "I asked for a 15-minute speech, but the one you gave me lasted 45 minutes!" The speechwriter replies: "I gave you three copies..."

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
To compare the two is an insult to Brezhnev.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Boris isn't doing the job I expected, he's kicking the arse out of this buffoon thing.
Maybe he really is a buffoon.
Also, he stood as a right winger, but frankly he's more of a left-wing tree hugger than a Tory.
His lack of grip on the illegal immigrants is woeful, and all this eco-lunacy like banning ICE cars and gas boilers is incredible.
He's clearly decided that jumping heavily on the green bandwagon is going to keep him in power, and f the consequences.
I still prefer him to that loon Corbyn, but the difference has turned out to be smaller than I, and most voters expected.
Reminds me of when Labour got in, only to discover their leader- that nice Mr. Blair, was a great deal more right wing than they expected- galloping into numerous wars just like some warmongering Tory!
No wonder people lose faith in the system.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Therein lies the problem. Look around and see if you can find a politician who will do a better job; the field is sadly lacking. Corbyn might have made everyone feel good for a few years but the next generation would be paying through the nose for that good feeling.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
llondel.
I quite agree it's a problem, and I don't know what the solution is. The Pollys are crap.
But really, that's only one of the problems facing those who live in the UK.
1.Wokeness
2. Heavy Taxation
3. Limitations on free speech
4.Idiotic green measures and general eco-lunacy
5. Lack of political choice,"this nutcase or that nutcase'
6.Gov't interfering where they have no business. Leccy cars, Heat pumps, etc
7. Extreme lefty bias everywhere, BBC, schools, Civil service, Universities etc.
8. Bloody Muslims, and having to pretend there's nothing wrong with the country moving to Islam.
9. Mass immigration
!0. Obsession with gay & trans issues- ffs!
I'm sure you could add a few of your own...
Man, I'm 61 now. I don't want to waste however many years I have struggling with this Tsunami of BS. Or subject my soon-to-be-born son to it either.
So I left!

How very true UP.
What we thought was so ludicrous that we found it amusing has now become reality.
God (If there is one) help us all.
