Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Tony the Islington flower seller was stabbed to death last week as he walked to a friends for dinner. We are alarmed. This was not the usual black-on-black drug dealer gang member killing which happens daily and we don't care about. This was a nice guy. Nobody know why he was killed, whether it was premed or random. My informants are baffled.
Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
I saw mention that there had been some 'altercation' and that the suspect was known to him.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
It's a strange business. His predecessors who ran the flower stall, and this was many years ago, were Up To No Good. Of course that might be said of many of the older generation in Islington. Including a former Prime Minister. But I never heard anything bad about Tony. My contact who gets around, and her Baker Street Irregulars, well, Essex Road Irregulars, have heard nothing so far. I spent six months walking the streets there last year, usually around midnight, during lock down. Black adults in parked cars, driver's window open and engine running, and black youths on push bikes carrying blue plastic ***** bags in one hand, and black guys standing in entrances on street corners all ignored me.

Isn't it unusual for the plod to name the accused, before he has appeared in court?

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
Tony the flower seller's girlfriend committed suicide a couple of months ago after several attempts at taking her own life, which Tony stopped. Although he was really caring, sadly the last attempt was successful. She had a 21 year old son who blamed Tony for her death. On Friday, stalking him, he ran up and stabbed Tony in the back on the street. Terrible.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
An old-fashioned crime. Revenge for a supposed ommission of care. Completely unjustified from what my informant told me.
Monday nights vigil held outside the flower stall was very well attended.
Oddly enough on my nightime walks last year on many nights I walked past the house where the murderer lived.
Makes me think "you never know what's going on behind those shut front doors.. "

Is it the manager who does not get the political message behind BLM, or the fans who do, that are "Understanding", or not?

OFSO - Either the son should be locked up in Broadmoor, if it's still in use, or if sane he seems to typify an increasing trend amongst some parts of society that you can behave just as you please - stabbing, cowards' sucker punches, kicking someone's head in and it is just a sign of your tough masculinity. I expect the useless Mayor is 'learning lessons' almost on a daily basis and come on Ms Dick - show some gumption!
Cops turn up at a reported stabbing and get pelted with bricks etc by a mob of knuckle draggers. WTF? The riot squad had to turn up to subdue them - I hope the cops cracked a few of their thick ugly heads open.

Sussex police raided a reported 'gathering' in a garden which appeared to exceed the guideline numbers of bodies. When they entered the garden they found lots of their (off-duty) mates there celebrating 'something'.
A bit of head-scratching (or is it arse-scratching) going on at HQ?

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
So it would appear that Portugal has been downgraded to amber as punishment for Michael Gove and son coming into contact with a Covided person whilst in the Country to watch the Champions League Final last week and now having to isolate.
None of the other ***** reasons from UKG are believable for the downgrade.
UKG is also putting too much emphisis on the infection rate above other factors in making decisions.

They were perfectly happy for thousands to fly to Portugal and allegedly spread the virus amongst the supporters, but wouldn’t let UEFA hold the final in the UKIbbie wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:30 amSo it would appear that Portugal has been downgraded to amber as punishment for Michael Gove and son coming into contact with a Covided person whilst in the Country to watch the Champions League Final last week and now having to isolate.

Even better news would be "Michael Gove has evaporated"!

Michael Gove isn't going to self isolate.
Why should he?
He's Michael Gove!

He's Michael Gove!

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?
This might not be happening in the UK, I think it more likely Airstrip One.
Amid the gnashing of teeth and wailing about historic tweets made by sportsmen, we now have Rio Ferdinand chipping in about those England spectators who booed when the players took a knee at the weekend. According to the saintly Rio, these people are "ignorant" and need, in true 1984 style, "educating." People who have posted unacceptable tweets must be shown "the wrongs they have done." Not a word on who decides what is wrong or what education is required (probably Room 101) but this language is unsettling. Let's face it, 50 years ago these type of tweets would not have been seen as "wrong", so who knows what will be acceptable in another 20 years. Perhaps Rio's opinions will be deemed as "wrong" then and he will need to be educated.
We also had the ex-England opener, Michael Carberry, opine at the weekend that Ollie Robinson should be banned from cricket as this type of person cannot be rehabilitated. So he has just condemned anyone who makes a mistake as a lost cause. We rehabilitate people who have committed far worse crimes but, according to Carberry, once you have made a racist comment you are irredeemably bad. I am sure he has never made a mistake in his life.
I despair, I really do.
