Migrants
Re: Migrants
Presumably, the facilitators organising the cross-Channel trips are guilty of breaching UK law?
Can European Arrest Warrants be issued to extradite them?

Re: Migrants
Who's going to catch them?
The Gendarmarie?
The ffrench want to get rid of these criminals migrants. What better way than to escort them to the median line and do the now well-established 'handover' of each batch to the Border Farce water taxi service?

Re: Migrants
The border crossings from Spain into France are completely unstaffed. Spain want to get rid of the migrants who paddle ashore as much as France does. We have seen migrants riding the TGV north from the Spanish border. If found they are put off the train at the next stop.....where they sit on a seat and wait for the next train north. If anyone here thinks that France, or any other country on the migrant's path north, cares an iota about stopping them reaching the UK, you are deluding yourselves.

Re: Migrants
Technically and based on "Dublin" France can return them to Spain no questions asked

Re: Migrants
British and French officials have agreed to make the route across the English Channel ‘unviable’ in the coming days.
Immigration minister Chris Philp met with the French Government for talks in Paris today on tackling the issue of migrant crossings, which have surged during the heatwave. He told Sky News France and the UK are working at ‘completely cutting’ the route migrants were taking across the English Channel in small boats.
Yeah, right.
What are they going to do? A C-17 at 400'?

Re: Migrants
I've heard they are going to tow Pritti up and down the channel behind a speed boat.

Re: Migrants
Pritti lacks some elements but could provide some good visuals
Regarding Dublin regulation: if an illegal immigrant is registered in the first European country they invaded (and they have reasons to do so - paid by our €/GBP an allowance of 400 Euros per month) they need to stay in that country until their case is decided give asylum or deported (in rare cases). If they roam to another country and caught there hoping to re-apply for asylum in a country with better social security package, they are sent back (unfortunately not in their home country but at the country they first invaded.
Boac Hellenic port control (they want to add coast guard but they need to do more than just add the name) need to improve their shooting efficiency.

Well, I think a clear enough message has been sent?RiS wrote:Boac Hellenic port control (they want to add coast guard but they need to do more than just add the name) need to improve their shooting efficiency.
Can you explain what you have posted? We are paying a 'seeker' in, say, Greece? I thought we only paid our own 'seekers'?(and they have reasons to do so - paid by our €/GBP an allowance of 400 Euros per month)
Looking further into the 'Dublin' and Brexit, I found this item https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/ho ... -by-brexit which indicates how we should handle asylum post-Brexit. It is of note to look at the 2018 figures for Greece in the table
Re: Migrants
I assume it is beyond the 'wit' (yes, 'wit') of a French official to notice the influx of inflatables for sale in northern France?

Re: Migrants
Boac,
There is an allowance paid for by EU funds about 400 € monthly (in addition to meals and lodging). I think this applies to a family, a couple might get 250 € and an individual 150. I just hold the idea there are no EU funds growing on trees. They are taxes (mainly VAT) paid for consumers in Europe and instead of being used to help EU citizens in need (and UK ones until the end of the year) they are used as incentives to attract more unwanted invaders. So no you don't pay for a particular immigrant in Greece but it is what the Americans say "your tax dollars at work".
Regarding Hellenic Port Police it would have been a stronger message if the yacht didn't make it back in Turkish waters.

That's a relief then, as it should not come (partly) out of my pocket on 1 Jan

Re: Migrants
Saw a video last week of a boat loading up with illegals on a beach between Calais and Dunkirk, French guy walking past with his dog said he is there every morning and watches boats loading all the time. If he knows surely the French authorities know too.But they are doing their best on the money we already give them, aren't they??

Re: Migrants
RiS - this is the (current) UK position (subject, of course, to BoJo wobbles): From my link, My bolding. I am cautiously optimistic...........
"We want a close future partnership to tackle the shared challenges on asylum and illegal migration. Section 17 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 commits the Government to seek to negotiate an agreement with the EU which allows for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in the EU to join family members lawfully present in the UK, where it is in their best interests. This commitment stands whether we leave the EU with or without a deal. Effecting transfers relies on an agreement being in place and we endeavour to negotiate such an agreement as soon as possible.
It will still be possible for a UK asylum application to be considered inadmissible if the applicant first travelled through another EU country. This will be done through changes to the UK’s immigration rules which 'ensures continuity of approach, by widening the scope of other third country Rules to deal with these cases.’ "
I cannot see any 'NGO' requiring dosh from my pocket for 'furrin parts' under this?

Re: Migrants
Boac, I hope you are right unless some NGO decide they should make a case against returning some "furrin parts" back in the country they first invaded the EU because their lodging doesn't have an indoor pool.

It can but it needs to make special arrangement if it is to be applied backwards.

Re: Migrants
I take it that the boat people are now subject to 14 days quarantine on arrival in the UK.........at their expense.
