Not to mention bespoke dinghies.

Where are these dinghies kept before use?

We need to strike a deal with another country, like Iceland, and locate the camps there.
That way it wont really matter if the deportation takes a long time- they'll be in a hurry to leave.

As long as we host them inside the UK, we'll never get rid of the poor bastards.

Had to look that up Pontious, but yes it looks perfect if a little sparse.

I imagine that after about half an hour, they'd be pining for the slums of Aleppo.

I suspect, PN, the inhabitants would not be very happy.

Why, what inhabitants? No even penguins or polar bears. Easier to get to than South Georgia. I suppose if you think the climate too severe somewhere nearer home such as St Kilda?

Migrants are just punishment for all the destruction and upheaval dished out to third world countries by the countries of the 'Free World'.

What goes around comes around.

Yes. A small No Army unit on detachment is not a permanent population.

I see the Government is threatening to charge RNLI and yachtsmen if they land migrants in UK. They are supposed to stand off and report.

What happens is the boat sinks or a migrant 'falls over board'? Could they be charged with manslaughter if they do nothing?
Article 98(1) of UNCLOS provides that every state "shall require the master of a ship flying its flag, in so far as he can do so without serious danger to the ship, the crew, or the passengers" to do any of the following: Render assistance to any person found at sea in danger of being lost.19 Jun 2019
The quote below brings to mind a rescue my father was involved in in the Indian Ocean.
The duty to provide assistance to anyone in Distress is an obligation and not a choice. The Master can turn down a request for rescue in only the following circumstances: He has insufficient bunkers to aid in the rescue effort.21 Nov 2019
His ship was an 8,000 ton tramp with about 100 crew. They rescued just over 1,000. Not only was fresh water limited they had to use tin cans as drinking vessels. This was in the 50s.

Amazing resource the Internet. It was probably this incident :

They seem to be making it up as they go along. Immigration will finish Johnson, and possibly even the Conservatives, what on earth are they thinking?
Neither the Government nor the Opposition seem to be able to manage this situation. If we can send soldiers to protect the borders of Poland legally, why can't we do so here, it is a simple enough question.

At least 27 migrants reported dead after boat sinks off French coast

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/24/europe/f ... index.html

(CNN)At least 27 migrants are dead after a boat capsized in the English Channel, off the coast of Calais, northern France on Wednesday, police sources told CNN affiliate BFMTV.

France's regional maritime prefecture said in a statement that a search-and-rescue operation for survivors was still ongoing in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex described the incident as a "tragedy." "My thoughts are with the many missing and injured, victims of criminal smugglers who exploit their distress and misery," Castex said in a tweet on Wednesday.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin is heading to Calais. He expressed "strong emotions facing the tragedy of the deaths of many migrants after a boat capsized in the English Channel."
"We can never say enough about the criminal nature of the smugglers who organize these crossings," he added in a tweet.

victims of criminal smugglers who exploit their distress and misery,
That is bollocks, they are not victims, they are illegal immigrants who have the funds to pay for illegal passages supplied by people with an eye for profit. There will be more official condemnation of people smugglers and still no official condemnation of the people deliberately destroying their paperwork before entering the UK illegally.

I can understand that living in France would make anyone distressed and miserable, but that doesn't give them the right to paddle over here.

I read that and thought "Capetonian lives!"

Stop dodging around the issue and avoid the problem rather than blame the victims.

Immigrants want to go to the Soggy Island of Pomgolia because conditions in their own countries are so bad. So now that you know the problem why not work on that?

As the weather here is so bad and the natives so unwelcoming in our overcrowded island, maybe we could give them passage to a more equable country.

There must be plenty of capacity in some Commonwealth country.

Stay in your country and work to make it better. Might take time but worth the effort you would think. No different to what many other people have done.
