Re: Scotish stuff
Enjoyed that AK! It's interesting that Robert the Bruce's statue at Bannockburn perpetuates the theory that the position of the horse's front legs on a monument relate to how the person died.
Both front legs in the air means that the rider died in battle. One leg in the air means he died subsequent to a battle but due to wounds received there. A horse with all four legs on the ground means the rider's death was not due to a battle.
Robert the Bruce died of leprosy or syphilis or perhaps from other illnesses - many theories - but he did not die in or because of a battle. His horse's legs on the Bannockburn monument are all firmly on the ground.
Obviously there are exceptions but it's amazing how many statues 'comply' with the theory! However, in London only 9 out of 15 equestrian statues match the theory.

See Ruth Davidson is thinking of packing in the political life. Nothing to do with Brexit although I am sure the Grauniad will put that slant on it.

I don't think the views of the scenery in the second video were taken in Aden.

- and may well be right! She was 'rumoured' to be less than enamoured with Boriski and I guess the prorogue was the icing on the cake. She appears to be going to 'spend more time with her family' in the time-honoured fashion.Nothing to do with Brexit although I am sure the Grauniad will put that slant on it.

Re: Scotish stuff
I worked for a small aviation outfit many years ago and at Christmas we had a habit of swapping small presents with the girls in Ops. One year I opened my present from one of the girls and it was a colourful willy warmer that she had knitted. I took the present to be a hint....

Re: Scotish stuff
I think I have one kicking around somewhere - given to me by my wife one winter - just before beginning a month-long contract with a Beaver on skis, based out in the boonies. Spent four weeks there, it rarely went above -20F, one morning it was -46.CharlieOneSix wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 10:57 amI worked for a small aviation outfit many years ago and at Christmas we had a habit of swapping small presents with the girls in Ops. Gentler stuff.
Re: Scotish stuff
Willy warmers formed the majority of my 40th birthday pressies - mostly from the girls ladies in the typing pool. Unfortunately, apart from one, they were either old, fat and/or gopping! And yes, I did. The rest were lovely ladies though.
