Proves yet again that there are none so disgusting and hateful as the Left.

Re: Vile rag
A revolting newspaper, incredible that people read it, thankfully we are enjoying a phase on the forum in which we no longer have to endure a daily link.
Re: Vile rag
- quite a generalisation there, om. You should look at it as a way of acquiring a balanced view. You do not HAVE to believe everything you read in any publication, but not a bad idea to be aware of it.A revolting newspaper, incredible that people read it
Re: Vile rag
It is a revolting newspaper but Boac is right, glancing through its drivelling lefty vitriol gives a view of how the enemy thinks, and that is important. I have to admit that whilst the content and politics are bilge, the journalism is excellent.
Some of their journalists from time to time rear their nasty heads on TV, for example George Monbiot and that harridan Polly Toynbee. I'm always glad when they come on late at night as it's a signal to listen to them for 10 seconds and then turn off and go to bed, reassured that they never change their view.

It is a bad idea to completely wall off stuff with which you disagree, because it helps to know what others may be thinking. It also means you're better prepared when someone starts quoting it. It's like reading the stuff in the Daily Fail - you can admire the way they use words to enrage their readership about the topic of the day, even while rejecting their bias. With the Grauniad you can play spot the typos and mentally move reality to the right a bit (or a lot).

I have been following the Ashes on the Guardian over by over coverage, but even on a cricket page they insist on snide lefty remarks.

Re: Vile rag
I read the articles in the Guardian on gardening, book reviews and the odd non political topic, in the main these articles are not revolting.
However the demented, lefty, usually female, political contributors are revolting. They are narrow minded, insular and incapable of balanced and reasoned debate. I have no objection to people holding left wing views, but expect them to have some sort of integrity with the facts.
It is a left wing rag that fails to match the journalistic standards of the Beano.

Here's a typical bilious Guardian comment :
As a matter of (no) interest, what has happened to Kak 'n Crap? What a pleasure, ahem, not to see his pretentious verbose rubbish and links to the GuardianWhat’s not to love? A queer opera singer exuberantly waving the Pride flag in front of a cheering audience at Last Night of the Proms, broadcast to millions of people. It is the sort of thing that is guaranteed to send every pink-faced Home Counties golf-club reactionary into paroxysms of rage. But at the risk of inviting predictable groans, watching the symbol of queer liberation being dramatically brandished during a rendition of Rule, Britannia! left me somewhat queasy.
An overtly jingoistic song dating back to the mid-18th century, it became an anthem of a British empire that imposed anti-gay laws from India to Africa. Indeed, 35 of the 53 Commonwealth nations – mostly ex-British colonies – have laws criminalising homosexuality, some designed by colonisers who themselves passionately sang along to Rule, Britannia!.
