True enough. It’s all about the money. Always has been. And it’s left millions of adults with a lot of egg on their faces.

We are on the wrong side of history here... and I suspect about 90% of us will be dead in the next 20 years..
I aim to be in the 10%

The trouble is one can’t assume to be alive in 20 years. There’re accidents, unforeseen medical probs that one doesn’t deserve to get, being wrongly murdered, being nagged to death, shot in the back by an angry husband etc.

Sometimes I wish I knew exactly when I’m going to kark it. It would make planning out one’s remaining life time so much easier.

Absolutely. I intend to spend the kids inheritance, they're all doing very well and don't need it, ( all those years of paying school fees worked ) tho' of course they would like it.

Trouble is ....how much can I spend on an annual basis ?

But... don't forget ... you came into this World with nothing, so if you go out in debt you've made a profit !

My late father always 'paid his way' and never indulged in the 'never never' or spent what he didn't have.
He expressed his disdain for people who spent everything and then qualified or 'assistance' from the state whereas he received nothing (other than his pension) in later life.

At one time the major credit cards included life insurance to the value of your balance at the time of your death.

Is this yet another perquisite that has fallen by the wayside?

My situation is that our current income covers the monthly nut, utilities, cable/internet, nights out, trips to exotic climes, etc. My goal is to live within the means of our monthly income without dipping into savings, which I have assiduously built up to take care of my wife when I'm outa here. All I need is a jungle breeze, a white sand beach, a margarita in my hand, and good friends around me, and that doesn't cost much in Mexico.

We are currently maintaining two households in Michigan and Mexico. Our household debate is whether to cash out of Michigan and full time it in Mexico or not. I'm ready to go now but she still wants to work in Ann Arbor. For me, a lot rides on the 2020 election. If the Democrat/Socialists are successful and President Trump is replaced, I think my wisest course is to wash my hands and retreat to friendlier climes where I can laze on the beach and tell my stories. I don't think the world majority realizes how much it has riding on President Trump's re-election. Also, I don't relish the idea of being an elderly white man in a hostile society, where I'm seen by too many as inherently evil.

Morning all, just.
Blue with some high cirrus and quite a few chemtrails.

Doc won't give me a report for Traffico without a blood test so I've had to cancel the appointment on Monday and reschedule except the site won't let me.
It also asks if you want one of about six language options, once past the first page it reverts to Spanish, frustrating.

SM off to the Health Center, routine dressing change.

Me playing with traffico, going to try the assistance phone number.

Got my IDP at Upper Street Post Office, £5.50, valid for one year's worth of driving in any of the countries it covers.

Mind you in the little Catalan town of Roses, nobody has ever be known to fail their Spanish driving test. Deaf, dumb, blind, quadruple amputees, everyone passes.

Sorry wrong thread. Climate...grey and mild in London. No sign of Stinky Rebellion Protesters.

Are there still 2 versions of the IDP?

Its years since I needed one.

I got mine at the same PO in Islington as OFSO (strange, that!).

The chap went to endless trouble to ensure I got the right one for where we were going, Zambia and Botswana. Needless to say in all the years that I have kept my IDP current, I have never been asked for it. The day I go somewhere without it, I will be asked for it,

This would explain why I have your photo on my licence !

Seriously there are at least three varieties of IDP. I also have the one for France, imprinted with a white flag on the reverse for use in emergencies such as invasion by a foreign power...

Why is it warmer today in Aberdeen than in London ?
