Greta Thunberg's father has said that she is happy. I know a number of young children whom she has made very unhappy as they believe the rubbish she spouts. One member of our family asked if he would live long enough to grow up and have children, after repeated exposure to her rantings.

OFSO - I haven't, like you presumably have, followed the young lady's rantings, but has she actually said we will all be dead in 20 years or so? If so Ofso I maybe should pay attention.

This was a normal and perfectly valid question throughout the Cold War, with the threat of global thermonuclear annihilation ever-present. And that's a point worth making also, that we have been through this too. I always see questions like this as a good opportunity to address both the question and how the apocalyptics come to their beliefs, rather than to avoid the rantings. One might also include how and why the media select their news items. The best result is that one's children decide for themselves who much they wish to expose themselves to it. It's remarkable how young children can make these decisions for themselves when well informed.

What the saintly Thunberg said is that it's not worth going to school as she wouldn't live long enough to enjoy her education. Had she been mine I would have disabused her of the idea that a child can make such a decision. She'd already been skipping classes for the prior three years, thus missing a fundamental period when ideas are formulated. Her father said she had been depressed, but after she found something to occupy her, i.e. preaching doom and gloom, she became much happier. (Today's 'Times').

Yup, quit school early before you learn enough reasoning to question your beliefs ;)))

Correction, it was the BBC newsfeed today on my phone, not the "Times".

General comment, and not related to Snotberg Tuna, is that perhaps in Sweden they teach kids so much self-righteous left-wing drivel that not going to school might be a better option.

- maybe she saw another reason why she might not live that long?

We might be forgiven for not immediately understanding the complexities of global warming, here is another short educational video to assist us.

Viewers Shocked By Rosie Jones' 'Disgusting' Greta Thunberg Joke On The Last Leg

Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long for the conversation to move onto Greta Thunberg, who had a big year at the forefront of environmental activism.

Jones began: "Greta's amazing and what she's doing is brilliant. But don't do it now. She needs to live a little, she's only 16."

She then quipped: "She should be doing two things - drinking Lambrini and getting fingered."

Leave the children alone and deal with the real issues men!

The aviation industry is set to launch a campaign to combat the growing flight shaming movement led by Greta Thunberg. The campaign comes as weakened demand has been reported in Europe.
Sweden sees fall in air passengers.

That's an unfortunate headline. If I'm an air passenger then falling is not what I want.

I dunno what type of idiot would be ‘shamed’ into not flying, but then we are forced to share the world with gullible morons.

I hope the campaign works without our already fragile industry having to pay off Turdburg’s parents et al to STFU.

I fly reasonably regularly with Quaintarse and have great pleasure ticking the “No, I don’t want to pay extra to offset my carbon footprint” each time I make a booking. Feckin shysters!
