Indeed. RIS - the thought of Boris and his gang running unchecked is alarming. Since there is no other credible 'opposition' at present, they need to sort themselves out and fast.

Pilots drink.
Who needs a gargle more than we?
My routine at home is to watch the news, surf the net on my laptop, then lie back on our comfortable couch and sleep. I wake up at around 2 AM, visit the head, then trundle off to the bedroom. My wife says it's from too much scotch, but I think it's from too little.

the Head
Thanks CPTN. He means the dunny.

What I couldn’t fathom was when my F/Os got out of their seats they’d say they’re going to the bathroom. I told ‘em I had 14 years on the A320 and if they do find a bath in this thing please tell me where it is because I’m buggered if I can find it.

WTF is wrong with calling it a toilet? :-\

In US military jargon, which carries over to the airlines, the 'head' refers to the on-board faciility for private elimination of the bodily fluids and solids that accumulate throughout the day. I think most of us visit one daily if we are healthy, even the womenfolk.

As I age I find the vists to the 'head' more often and more demanding as in 'If I don't get there quick I'm going to have an accident'. Such an incident can destroy your whole personna. So far, I've avoided that, but watched my Dad do it towards the end of his life. Incontinence is a given in old age, so we have to cope with it.

On a sad note, my wife and I dispatched our beloved pooch to heaven yesterday. Nearly 16 years old, she could no longer eliminate, and as well she had gone deaf, her legs were no longer supporting her. She was sweet to the last minute and I don't know if she knew what we had planned for her. I think we did the right thing but I puzzle as how humanity, at least in the Western world, preserves life at great expense, when it is no longer a viable existence while at the same time we exterminate our pets out of mercy. We took her to our trusted veterinarian for an assessment and she said it would be best to avoid the imminent suffering by ending her life. My wife was in favor of it, but I resisted until our vet made the call. I thought she might have a few years left. She lived with us nearly 16 years, guarding the house, responsive and always wanting to be near us. It's so hard that our faithful companions don't live as long as we do.

Tonight was when we started clearing the house of her bed. feeding dishes, and other things. It was so emotional that we wouldn't be hearing her paws on our hardwood floors when she woke up in the middle of the night. In the last year or two she slept most of the day but got restless in the wee hours, wanting to go outside. If you're a dog lover, like me, you can understand the grief I feel today.

Yes, whatever you might think of the "other lot", they do need to be credible and be able to hold the government to account. That's sort of what happened with Maggie when she was up against Foot and Kinnock, Labour was so busy sorting itself out that it didn't have time for the day job. Ironically, Maggie might have a better reputation amongst those left of centre had their lot done a decent job.

As an Aussie you should be well aware it's out the back, short walk across the paddock. And watch out for redbacks and occasional funnelweb.

Never realised the guys up front ( and the ladies also) needed to visit the WC while flying the big silver birds.. I assumed you'd had surgery, like Phil the Greek and Brenda, or at the very least had a fartectomy like Princess Anne.

There was discussion on TOP about a single pilot case on the flight deck - think that German suicide and even perhaps the Malaysian. One pilot left the flight deck and became locked out.

I suggested in R&N that they could have the same facility as we had on the V-Force. For some reason Woblin Wobin took exception and I was given a week in the cooler only he never lifted the ban. I just had to return with my alter ego 😀

Ben.

The closeness with our pets gets most of us. On one flight I sat next to a very pleasant man in First, turns out he was the head of a major US company though he showed no egotism. We sat drinking scotch and chatting and eventually the subject of our dogs came up. It transpired that his dog was aging and did not have much time left. He had to turn away and look out of the window with a handkerchief until he recomposed himself.

A man who could order, hire, fire, buy a hundred dogs but still his best friend in the World was that one special dog who would break his heart when it left.

“Glideslope!” “Glideslope!” Interesting thread drift alert!

Meanwhile, back on topic, this guy sums up very well what most of us on O-N seem to think regarding the UK GE;

https://www.spiked-online.com/2019/12/1 ... democracy/

Once you can get rid of the irritating adverts creeping onto the screen.

Also recommend some of his vids where he talks directly, unlike the HoC occupants.

Pity the EUSSR elite won’t read, digest, take note and even more importantly take proper action? But then their action would probably be to enact EUSSR legislation to limit the effectiveness of any election, whether national or bloc-wide!

The conclusions of the politicians will be as follows:
1. Don't hold referendums
2. Don't hold early elections

Just an idle thought; nobody talks about 'Floating Voters' any more. In my Yoof at school learning about Economics and Politics (because my Ffrench was so cr@p that I wasn't allowed to study it for O level) we were taught that it was the Floating Voters you had to woo in a General Election, not your hardened Faithfuls. However, I suspect that Grumpy Old Corbyn has done a first; not only failed to woo the Floating Voters but lost the Faithfuls as well. =))

I didn't see any evidence that Corbyn tried to woo anybody, all he did was trot, (excuse the pun) out the lunatic left ideas, devoid of practicality or common sense, take it or leave it, and he doesn't appear to be very put out that we left it. I have always thought that Corbyn and his uninspiring front bench were quite happy to remain in opposition, all they have to do is criticise everything and draw their salaries.
Corbyn, his unpleasant supporters and front bench of retards don't matter, they can just be ignored.

I think you're spot on there.
For the left, it's all about the ideology.

I think Corbyn would rather have the ideology correct (in his warped commy mind) and be in opposition, than compromise it and form the Government.

In opposition, he can maintain his socialist principles- which is never going to be possible in power.

I think they are done, for many a year....
