Movie jobs?
Not the type of jobs I had in mind but you are a kinder and less cynical soul than I am.

When they first fell in lust, sorry, love, I always thought Harry’s dream posting was to some African village where he could dance with the inhabitants and use his skills clearing minefields?
Los Angeles seems a long way from that ambition both in geography and purpose and it’s not a particularly pleasant example of North American cities. Maybe Nutmeg can land him a part in some mega-blockbuster film and they’ll all live happily ever after, until the divorce......

Isn't it true that PH only needs a Green Card to be 'employed' in the USA?

This comes not from 1st hand knowledge, but reading about Bernard Cornwell the author of the Sharpe series. He married an American and started writing as it was something he didn't need a Green Card for.

From what I have read, there is a huge difference between 'security' and Royal Protection standards.
Being based in the US, firearms availability shouldn't be a problem.
Even PH should know how to 'handle' a rod.

G-CPTN, you've not been reading the correct detective literature. You mean a 'gat'.

Having worked very closely with Royal Protection Officers. There is a huge difference between them and a bunch of private American thugs with shooters. it is a very specialised operation. They can spot a threat at a hundred metres by the wink of an eye. Just look at any footage of the Royals on public walkabout and their PPOs, those guys/girls are on the ball. After a day out they used to come back onto the aircraft absolutely knackered.

There is also a huge difference between "bunch of private American thugs with shooters" and professional security guards in the US. I have worked with both---certainly the "professional" ones are on a par with RPO's, at least one of the ones I have worked with in the last year was ex-secret service protection detail. I am sure there are both reputable and non-reputable security companies in the UK.

G-Man, the difference in UK is private security cannot be armed.

Your Secret Service is also ready to catch bullets. Are any private security men, in it as a job, prepared to die for their clients?

A green card or other suitable visa, yes. He qualifies for a green card because he's married to a US citizen. There's a bunch of financial paperwork thrown in though, she's going to have to prove she can support him and that he won't draw on any public funds. He has to pay 40 quarterly social security payments or become a citizen (which would take three years) to get her (and any co-sponsors) off the hook for that.

When I married my Australian wife 25 years ago, April 5 is our anniversary, we didn't have to do any of the Social Security stuff. We got married and shortly after got her green card. Five years or so later she got her citizenship. Getting public assistance is forbidden in my family - we take care of our own - so I'm not familiar with the public assistance regime.

The tabloids are frothing over the Duke and Duchess shenanigans. My sense is that he will at some point become disillusioned and seek an escape. But that's mostly because I think she's a train wreck.

Seems that they are using a UK security team with ex-SAS personnel, presumably armed. Probably with grenades, rocket launchers and ballistic missiles if my experience with these guys is anything to go by.

Now, I want to set my timer. Is this departure at midnight GMT or LA time?

Can't wait to see what ***** she comes out with on the new web site.

But maybe we are all wrong. Maybe it IS what they actually want and live happily hereafter.
At least the elephants voiceover was reported to be good somewhere.

Does this not also present visa problems, especially if they are on permanent duties? If, as reported, they need 4 PPO per shift, would that be 8 or 12? And also allowing for off duty periods even more. I once did a 6 month stint on a 2 watch rota with three people on rotation. Not much fun.

If you have a team sufficiently large and paid at contractor rates you are looking at very big sums.

Does this include personnel for 'shopping'?

G CPTN, the answer to that question is directly related to salary offered. But if the salary is enough, take the money and FO and write a book.
