MSM this morning saying PC is giving up the Duchy brand and will probably sell it on at hopefully a massive profit.

So though the regular income from the biscuits may cease, the potential windfall may help to fund Ginge & Nutmeg’s taste in multi-bathroom mansions out West.

But as of the time of writing even Goggle has no mention of the sale of the Duchy Original brand so maybe I was dreaming it...
PRINCE Charles is set to quit his landmark “Duchy Originals” farm after 35 years.

A book leaked the name of their dog. It is called "Pula" (no need to translate there thanks to Ex-A's input) after a visit they had in Bots when they started dating. I wonder where did they stay there
Sorry bit behind the drag curve here. The coinage Pula actually means 'Let there be rain' in Setswana or just 'Rain'. Our most precious resource.

RiS they stayed just down river from us at Meno A Kwena https://www.expertafrica.com/botswana/k ... no-a-kwena We have stayed there a couple of times, in fact in the same tent as them last time. Good job I didn't leave my smelly socks under the bed. It is not actually mega luxury, very rustic and a great place to stay. Excellent thing for us is we don't have to fly we can drive there. Can't get the boat there due to rapids. Might get there with an exciting ride but couldn't get back. Come and stay with us as Mr and Mrs Cape did and we will take you there for lunch. No ferries involved :-bd .

All this about her going on her own into the 'woods' for whatever. Two points. She will have been escorted by a guide who would scout around the area for no Nutmeg devouring animal then shown a tree that she could go behind. This is standard procedure for any visitor on a private concession. We don't get this kid leather glove treatment as they know that we live in the bush. Secondly we do not have 'woods' here per se it is all just considered 'bush'. Pedantic but fact.

No, but I know what it means in Romanian, it is what Ginge thinks with. He obviously speaks Romanian. Nutmeg is standing here in Botswana at one of those little sweet stalls by the roadside and says 'give me some pula huns'. He chucks her on her back in the sand and gives her one. :-o

"I know what it means in Romanian" - fascinated to know how you knew Romanian urban slang - is there another facet to ex-A we should know? :))

Ah, now then, then now. Just checked log books. Tasked on Feb 24 1991 into Constanta, the Romanians wanted to send at least a medical team into the Gulf if not troops. It was supposed to be a one hour turn around. Their CDS or summat asked me if he could come on board and bid them all well with a TV team. I thought that he was just going to address them on the PA and wave. He greeted every one in person and shook their hands with it all recorded for national TV. Log book says there from 13.35 - 16.00. got to know a few Romanian nurses on that turn around B-) They all got a standard crew buttie box including a bouncy Brize flight catering scotch egg. They thought it was their birthday and Christmas all rolled into one.

RiS now you know. You can now speak some Romanian. As you know I am fluent in many languages. I can ask for a beer in about 50. If it is two beers I have to ask twice.

Well, spent a few night-stops in Bucharest but never had the need to talk about pula. Saw a dog giving another a BJ though in the street. Amazing.

I assume that not too many Romanians go to Pula (Croatia) for their holidays then?

Romanian 1: "Unde te duci pentru vacanțele din acest an?" (Where are you going to for your holidays this year?)
Romanian 2: "Pula"
Romanian 1: "Nu trebuie să fii nepoliticos, am întrebat doar!" (No need to be rude, I only asked!)

A former work colleague, who travelled a lot, even by the standards on here. Had a collection of 80 column punched cards. One printed in each local language of wherever he went.

They read:

"Two beers please, my friend here will pay!"

When he got to SA with 10 official languages, he was in heaven.

Ex-A Romanian nurses.... I have been been impressed by your life experience but meeting Romanian nurses, my respect for you increased by many orders or magnitude.

Two beers ..... was told to do that by a Flt. Eng. when I joined BOAC and suggested that I didn’t know whether to start learning Italian or Spanish for the Rome, Barcelona, stops. Only phrase you need to know in any language, he advised.

ExSpd, in a 10 man crew you either learn to count or use fingers.

We were 'stuck ' in Germany cant remember why, broken prop seal I think. We were accommodated in a castle which was both understaffed and had very slow beer pump.

After a period of time two of us eventually got the hired help to pour two small beers and then he disappeared. More crew arrived, we eventually got him back and 5 beers were poured before he disappeared again. When we were 10 it took ages before he got 10 poured.

By now we had his measure. As he tried to make his escape we called for 10 more beers. Eventually we just had him pouring beers continually.

I thought that there seemed to be a general consensus about page 3-ish that they weren't worth bothering about any more so we could find more interesting things to talk about. What happened? here we are meithering on about a couple of nonentities 45 pages later, and going round the same sonobuoy again and again with the same whinges and cheap, quasiracist insults. Can we not just consign them to the dustbin of history and leave them there?

Let's face it: other than in the eyes of The Daily Mail, Harry is a complete non-entity. Most recognise that he's an outsider in the German tribe, just like his mother was. He certainly recognises it.

He belongs in the vacuous world of Hollywood 'stars' and tv chat show guests.

Let the little twunt get on with it. He won't bovver me 'cos I don't watch telly chat shows and I don't read the Daily Wail.
