Her international popularity has sparked a small-scale backlash back home, with some people turning over covers of magazines featuring Ardern as a form of protest, saying they want their leader to put more of her focus on domestic problems, rather than international publicity.
It's a women thing, similar posing to Sturgeon, they are there to make sure the dustbins are emptied on time, not be on the world stage. Other than Mrs Thatcher, who was special, no female leader has been any good as Prime Minister.

I think that some Israelis might disagree with you!

The Jacinda bird ain't no Golda Meir. From what I have seen of her I have the impression that she is rather Me As Well and Woke, but it's what they have voted for, so good luck. I still think they would be better with a bloke.

It was not what we voted for, the National Party won most votes at the last election, it was the decision of Winston Peters, New Zealand First candidate, to go with the Labor party.
It was MMP at its worst, the two parties who got the lowest votes, along with the greens, get into power, nothing like the result what the majority vote was after.
I stand to be corrected but my impression for this move was, he knew he would get the Deputy Prime Minister job, and he knew that Jacinda was pregnant, thus he would get his wish to be the first Maori Prime Minister, even if it was only as a stand in, whilst she gave birth, and maternal leave.

But no obvious choice at the moment, bit like the US Democrats trying to choose a contender to battle Trump, but less options.

Heaven forfend that NZ, still a bastion of democracy (for all those faults, left or right), decency and hope (in an ugly world), would choose a perversion of everything that is good in life and morals like Trump!

I just came across this thread. I didn't see anything about her results as PM.

Is NZ's economy doing well, are jobs plentiful, is the currency holding up, is the country safe, are the people generally content with the state of things and the performance of government, is NZ pulling its weight in the ensuring of an orderly world?

I would say answering the above, honestly, to yourself, would direct you Kiwis as how to vote when the time comes.

Ben, we do not have to worry about the orderliness of the world as we know Trump has that well in hand.

Jacinda seem to want to tell others how to run their country, insisting that Australia has no right to expel New Zealand citizens whom commit crime.
She seems to have let the praise from the other snowflakes and lefties go to her Head.

John Hill hello there! I live in Hobart but come from New Zealand and good seeing another New Zealander. I love Jacinda and does a magnificent job. Why do so many grumpy men not like her? They have to live in that fantastic country to appreciate what she is doing. Maryanne 💕

I have to ask why does Australia allow such horrible criminals in to their country in the first place?

Hello there Maryanne! Jacinda is not liked by grumpy old men because that is their nature!

Please be careful around Hobart and Launceston as some of my rellies are around there. My grandfather left Tassie as a young man in 1898 and came to NZ to make his life here.
