Re: Coronabollocks..
Finding the virus in a big cat is quite disturbing.
If it turns out that domestic moggies can be a reservoir of the disease, and if they can pass it to eachother and to humans, then the epidemiologists have got a whole new set of problems.

Africa bracing for ‘complete collapse of economies’ as coronavirus takes its toll.
This is only the start, I fear
How individuals move from 'outright refutation' to 'it can only get worse'.
And how a little schadenfreude influences the rate of change...

Re: Coronabollocks..
Only two things can happen.
Either:
1. A vaccine appears.
Or:
2. We all get exposed.
My money is on 2.
If we struggle like anything with the lockdowns and so on, we just make the whole episode last longer.

Re: Coronabollocks..
There is no question that so called 'herd immunity' will eventually be achieved. This will be reached through three components:
1) Those naturally immune after being infected.
2) Those vaccinated when a vaccine is available
3) Those who have left the herd because they are deceased.
Lockdowns are intended to reduce the preponderance of component 3.
You may well think that a few old crumblies popping off a few month early is a small price to pay. But anyone who thinks lifting all lockdowns world-wide tomorrow would see business as usual must be living in a cave.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Here in India, the lockdown WILL be lifted on 14 April.
However, they intend to identify 'hotspots' and these will be isolated for a further 28 days, and there will be buffer zones established around them.
The Government here have concluded that 100% lockdown is not a feasible option for anything more than a few weeks.
This country simply cannot afford a longer lockdown.
How long can the UK afford it, I wonder?

Further to the tiger story;

I can see that any attempt to swab the inside of tiger Nadia’s cheeks might have provided a video for the masses which would have gone viral?

India is still only on the 14% growth curve. Let's see what they decide when April 14th comes around.AtomKraft wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 7:52 amHere in India, the lockdown WILL be lifted on 14 April.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Isn't there some suggestion that a laboratory in USA was aware of this virus (and may have been the source of the infection by members of the military visiting Wuhan)?

There's all sorts of conspiracy theories doing the rounds G-CPTN. The virus probably sank the Titanic if you take them far enough.
Was reading interesting stuff last night that thinks the EU will disintegrate with all thats going on and states not assisting others. Certainly the always seemed possible north/south split is back on the table. Also another lengthy article about all the statistics from each country being based on different sources. No one is comparing or recording for a like on like assessment.
Meanwhile Corona Beer is being withdrawn from the market.

Sad news, but it’ll probably be back soon relabelled as “Brexit Brew” as revenge for the Brits causing all the aggro in the first instance?

What about a rebrand as Bubonic beer? If a hygienic kitchen scouring powder can be called Cif then Bubonic Beer should go down a storm...barkingmad wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 1:42 pm“Meanwhile Corona beer is being withdrawn from the market”.

He went in for checkups, and they found summat wrong! SOP.
Doctors suspect bad things or they wouldn't order 'checkups'!

Are you referring to the virus itself or are you referring to the economic harm that will arise as a result of the virus?Jetex Jim wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 6:17 amSomeone needs to chart the trajectory of Covid-19 Denial Syndrome.Seenenough wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 2:47 amAFRICAPublished 6 hours ago

Are they going to experiment on him?
Or just use him as a voodoo doll with placebos in a blind trial?
He could turn out to have a public use other than as a clown in HIGNFY.
Has he "walked straight into a massive elephant trap"?
Re: Coronabollocks..
"China's efforts to rebrand itself as a global leader focused on humanitarian relief amid the coronavirus outbreak has hit a major snag and perhaps revealed Beijing's true intentions behind their public relations blitz.
After telling the world that it would donate masks, face guards and testing equipment to Italy, China quietly backtracked and sold the Mediterranean country desperately-needed medical equipment, according to a report.
What's worse is that the personal protective equipment (PPE) China forced Italy to buy was actually the same PPE Italy donated to China before coronavirus rushed its own shores and killed nearly 16,000 people."
How is this one for returning the favor.
